Looking at the sudden appearance of several system prompts, Mikazuki fell into thought.
Although he didn't know why these missions were triggered, the outcome was undeniably favorable.
Two training missions, coupled with the rewards from exam achievements—by the end of this term, Mikazuki's chakra would undoubtedly break into five digits.
Unfortunately, there wouldn't be a tie for first place in the practical exam; a clear winner and runner-up would be decided. As a result, one task's reward was destined to be slightly less lucrative.
"Would it be better if one of them encountered an 'unexpected' obstacle, delaying their participation until next term?" Mikazuki seriously pondered this option.
He hesitated, knowing he had the means to execute such a plan.
However, he couldn't guarantee this was the optimal solution. Since there had never been a situation where two training missions overlapped, Mikazuki assumed that a disciple could only trigger one training mission at a time.
If one of them delayed until the next term to complete the task, there would be a three-month gap during which no new training missions could be triggered.
Stretching the task's duration might enhance the base rewards, but was that truly better than completing more training missions in the same time frame?
Based on the trigger mechanism for training tasks, Mikazuki speculated that the disciple who placed second might, out of frustration, immediately trigger another task to achieve first place.
He decided to play it by ear, focusing first on planning the next stage of Obito and Guy's training. Regardless of the final outcome, increasing their strength would guarantee better rewards.
On Tuesday morning, Anko hummed an unknown tune as she walked toward the Ninja Academy, looking unusually cheerful.
Having taken Monday off, she hadn't attended school for three days, including the weekend. She hadn't heard Mikazuki's lectures or hung out with her "brothers-in-arms" during that time.
That's why she was especially excited to return today.
"Will Mikazuki-sensei ask if I was sick? Will Kotetsu and Izumo have won their match? I'm so looking forward to finding out!" The more she thought about it, the more Anko felt that going to school was something to anticipate.
"Isn't she Mitarashi Anko? One of those 'talented trio' people."
"Yeah, that's her. I remember her. She came second in the practical exam last time."
"Second place in the practical exam? That's pretty strong, but isn't she kind of... eccentric?"
As Anko approached the academy and the number of students increased, she noticed several people casting her odd glances.
"Do people not usually take days off at the academy? Did my absence somehow become a big deal?" Anko muttered, confused by the attention.
Entering the classroom, Anko immediately sensed something was off—Kotetsu and Izumo weren't chatting. Instead, they were lying face down on their desks as if they were asleep.
Usually, when Anko arrived, the two were either discussing ways to deal with Kotetsu's troublesome cousin or brainstorming ideas for meeting girls.
She was about to walk over and wake them to ask what was going on when a classmate she was friendly with called out to her.
"Anko, you've become quite famous at the academy over the past two days." The girl covered her mouth, struggling to suppress her laughter.
"Huh? I haven't even been here. How could I become famous just for taking a day off?" Anko scratched her head, unable to figure it out.
"That chair-summoning jutsu—did you develop it?" the girl asked, her laughter barely contained.
"Chair-summoning? Do you mean Confuse Enemy Jutsu? Sort of. Kotetsu, Izumo, and I worked on it together," Anko replied.
At this, the girl couldn't hold back anymore. She burst out laughing. "Haha! You should ask your 'good brothers' about it yourself!"
"Kotetsu! Izumo! Didn't you guys sleep well last night?" Anko, increasingly baffled, decided to wake her "brothers-in-arms."
However, trying to wake someone pretending to sleep is futile. The two boys acted as if they were in a deep slumber, ignoring Anko's repeated calls.
A more reserved classmate might have given up at this point or tried gently poking them awake. Not Anko.
Realizing they were faking, she immediately landed a punch on each of them.
"What are you two hiding from me?" Anko demanded, suspicion written all over her face.
Knowing they couldn't keep pretending, the two reluctantly opened their eyes.
"This is all Kotetsu's fault! He embarrassed himself on stage and dragged us into it!" Izumo blurted out, throwing his friend under the bus as he explained the events of the weekend competition.
"He even made a point of loudly saying all our names. Truly despicable!" Izumo now stood beside Anko, angrily denouncing Kotetsu.
Anko's fists clenched as she listened. She couldn't believe this. She had only missed a day, yet Kotetsu's antics had dragged her reputation down with him.
Sensing her rising fury, Kotetsu quickly revealed the plan he and Izumo had hatched. "Wait, Anko! Don't trust him! It was Izumo's idea! He said that since you weren't here, we might as well claim you developed the jutsu on your own!"
Anko fell silent, her gaze shifting to Izumo. Her eyes brimmed with unspoken fury.
To think, she'd been looking forward to her friends winning and treating her to dango with their prize money. And yet, both had betrayed her without hesitation.
"You're both the worst! Prepare for a beating!" Anko shouted, grabbing each of them.
Knowing they were in the wrong, neither dared fight back. Chaos filled the classroom as the trio dashed about, bringing a lively energy to the room.
The ruckus only ended when Mikazuki arrived.
"Mikazuki-sensei! My reputation has been ruined! I'm no longer 'Genius Anko'; now I'm 'Talented Anko'!" Anko grumbled in frustration.
"If they're not calling you 'Useless Anko,' it means your abilities are still recognized," Mikazuki said with a smile, trying to comfort her.
"But I still think 'Genius' sounds better."
"Then prove it next time with your performance."
"Will doing well earn me dango?"
"If you perform well."
"Yay!" Hearing this, Anko's mood brightened instantly, and she flashed a broad smile.
Just then, the bell signaling the start of class rang.
"Let's begin," Mikazuki announced, starting the day's lesson.
[Lesson Completed]
Evaluation: AReward: Water Release: Water Formation Wall
[Bonus Reward]: Due to your teaching, Year One Class A students have made significant progress in ninjutsu.
Reward: Proficiency in Advanced Transformation Techniques.
Once the lesson ended, Mikazuki noted the unexpected bonus reward with some surprise.
"So there's more than just the regular teaching rewards," he mused.
After more than two months of teaching, this was the first time he'd triggered such a reward. Though it was just an advanced-level technique, it would still prove useful in practical scenarios.
Reflecting on this, Mikazuki realized it made sense. This was a teaching system, not just a master-disciple one.
By continuously guiding a large group of students and improving their skills, extra rewards were a logical addition.
"If I teach higher-level ninjutsu, would the rewards improve?" Mikazuki wondered, contemplating ways to maximize his gains.
The idea was appealing, but current academy regulations only allowed teaching basic techniques during ninjutsu lessons.
While restrictive, Mikazuki could understand the reasoning behind it. With forty students per class, each possessing unique chakra natures, it wasn't realistic to expect a single teacher to master jutsu from all five elements—or to cater to every student's learning pace.
These limitations didn't bother Mikazuki, who possessed an extensive repertoire of jutsu and exceptional teaching skills. However, he knew better than to reveal the full extent of his abilities.
"Perhaps I should propose to the Third Hokage that I take over Class A's taijutsu lessons as well," Mikazuki thought.
He recalled that the students had expressed dissatisfaction with their current taijutsu instructor, frequently complaining that the lessons were both poorly taught and boring.
If he were to personally handle their taijutsu training, their progress would undoubtedly accelerate.
After lunch, Mikazuki continued brainstorming ways to improve Class A's overall strength as he returned to the office.
Inside, his colleagues were busy, much like the previous month.
