Hong Meiling Sleepwalks Through the Heavens

This move of hers may scare ordinary humans, but it is no threat to adequately powerful people.

Although Meiling knew that she was not the most powerful youkai in Gensokyo, she knew that she was definitely more powerful than Cirno.

Meiling punched the air several times in the blink of an eye, and the sheer force from her punches generated a wind strong enough to shatter the cones of ice from a distance.

Cirno blinked with a blank expression. This strange lady seems more powerful than expected!

But no matter how strong you are, you are no match for the almighty Cirno!

Although Cirno has lost many battles, that would never discourage her.

Cirno held her breath as she hovered in the air, causing her face to turn a little red, like a tiny tomato, as if she was charging up to unleash her strongest attack.

Countless hailstones began to rain down from the sky around Cirno, and she spun rapidly on the spot, forming a hailstorm.

Then, she stopped, seemingly dizzy, before pointing her finger towards Meiling and launching the whirlwind of hail towards her!

“Diamond Blizzard!” Cirno yelled from beyond the hailstorm.

Although Cirno is just a fairy, her strongest move is still strong enough to kill an ordinary human.

Facing the whirlwind of hail raining down upon her, Meiling simply smiled. If you have a special attack, then so do I!

Meiling lifted her arms above her head as she spun rapidly, causing colorful, rainbow cyclones to shoot out from her palms rapidly. The wind gathered around her violently, forming a dazzling, iridescent hurricane as she twisted.

This is one of Meiling’s spell cards: Colorful Sign “Extreme Color Typhoon!”

The whirlwind directed from the qi within Meiling’s body was much more powerful than the hailstorm generated by Cirno. The shards of rainbow pushed Cirno’s icy hailstorm back in an instant as countless shards of danmaku plunged into her body.

“Agh!”

The ice fairy let out a shrill scream as she was shot down from the air, falling to the ground like a blue comet.

Meiling knew to save her strength when fighting against Cirno. Otherwise, Cirno might be launched straight towards the Misty Lake.

“Ow! That hurts!” Cirno grumbled as she struggled to get up from the ground. Dusting off the dirt stained on her tattered dress, she walked up to Meiling and pointed at her with a red face, yelling, “Just you wait!”

The fairy then turned around and stomped away rapidly.

Is… is she going to call backup? Meiling wondered, watching Cirno stumble over a rock.

Sure enough, after leaning on the brick wall for about ten minutes, she could see Cirno flying back in the distance. However, this time, there were two other girls that flew alongside her, and both look about ten years old.

Meiling, of course, knew who they were.

On the left of Cirno is a girl with blonde hair clipped with a red amulet, and she donned a black dress. Rumia, right?

And to the right is a girl with green hair and translucent wings on her back. She, too, is a fairy like Cirno, and her name is Daiyousei.

Rumia, on the other hand, is a youkai able to manipulate the darkness. Despite the menacing ability, she is no stronger than Cirno.

As for Daiyousei, she might be weaker than Rumia and Cirno.

Even if the three were to fight Meiling, they will not pose any threat to her.

Cirno has a brash, unrelenting personality, but Daiyousei seems to be the smarter one of the three. When Cirno first yapped about needing help to fight a ‘green lady,’ she immediately agreed out of loyalty. However, seeing that Cirno brought them to the Scarlet Devil Mansion, she felt a little apprehensive.

“Um, Cirno…” Daiyousei tapped on Cirno’s shoulder and whispered in her ear. “T-this isn’t the ‘green lady’ you were talking about, right? I heard the other fairies talk about t-this place… and they told me that big, scary people live in it!”

“I heard about that too!” Cirno boasted, with her chin held high. “That’s why I want to go into that stupid house and beat up all those stupid people inside to show how strong I am! I need to let the world know that I am the strongest in Gensokyo!”

Rumia held her arms up to her side, as if she was being crucified, and asked, “Is that true?”

This is Rumia’s habit, Meiling remembered.

Meiling also heard Cirno’s loud boasts from the short distance between them and sighed. If you can’t even beat up the gatekeeper, how are you going to do all that and beat up my mistresses?

Immediately, Cirno pointed her finger towards Meiling and shouted in a loud voice, “Rumia! Daiyousei! Chaaaaaarge!”

Cirno immediately took the lead and rushed towards Meiling, and Rumia followed closely behind.

Daiyousei’s eyes widened in a panic, but since Cirno was her friend, she reluctantly flew close behind as well.

Meiling smiled slightly watching the three fly towards her, and took a bold step forward.

“Kick of Showering Brilliance!”

Meiling leapt up to the sky and directed a powerful kick towards the three of them. Before they could even react, three swift and colorful kicks struck at them in a quick succession, launching the three of them backwards in a dazzling light.

The three drew an arc of smoke in the air, and the three crashed to the ground one after another.

Meiling’s attack was a little stronger than the one she unleashed previously, and it took them about ten seconds to gather themselves from the impact of Meiling’s kick.

“C-cirno! She’s too powerful! We can’t beat her!” Daiyousei pleaded and held onto Cirno. “Let’s retreat!”

“No!” Cirno rejected. “There’s three of us! It’s im-poh-ssible to lose!”

Cirno put her hand to her chin, pondering deeply, “She just seems powerful, but we are a-okay! ‘Tis but a flesh wound! She is not strong at all! The three of us! Together! We will give it our all and win!”

Meiling once again heard her blabbering and felt the corners of her mouth twitch. Isn’t it obvious why I’m going easy on the three of you?! If I let all my strength out, the three of you will be in the depths of Misty Lake by now!

Cirno really is stupid!

However, Meiling caught a glance of something, and simply smiled to herself.

“The two of you,” Meiling corrected, pointing at a distance.

Cirno did not understand what Meiling was saying, but Daiyousei held onto her and shook her, “R-rumia escaped!”

Cirno whipped her head back, and a ball of darkness could be seen floating away erratically with her arms spread out wide.

Rumia was not as close to Cirno like Daiyousei is. Their ‘friendship’ started to feel a little dangerous at this point, and Rumia decided to pack up and leave immediately.

Cirno’s face turned beet red again, as if she was thinking: That coward Rumia!

Cirno then glanced back at Meiling. At this time, a fairy maid opened the gate to the Scarlet Devil Mansion, pushing a cart over to Meiling.

On the cart was a bento and a large cup. The maid glanced at Cirno and Daiyousei and tilted her head, as if acknowledging that they were all the same kind. The maid felt a little confused, but said to Meiling, “Ms. Meiling, your lunch.”

Meiling smiled and nodded to the maid, “Thank you.”

The maid bowed and closed the gate behind her.

Meiling sat down by the gate, cross-legged. Opening her bento, an aroma flooded her nostrils, and she could feel saliva gathering in her mouth.

The food provided in the Scarlet Devil Mansion is excellent. Today, Meiling gets to eat a freshly baked, crispy seven-inch ham pizza, and a succulent fried chicken drumstick.

And the cup held a generous amount of fragrant black tea.

Cirno watched the sequence of events unfolding before her azure eyes and pouted. This green lady is sitting and eating in front of me! She is not scared of how strong I am!

However, the aroma of the food soon wafted towards Cirno’s nostrils, and she swallowed the saliva gathering by her lips.

Hmm… I’m hungry. We will make a tactical retreat! For food! We will be back soon! She thought to herself.

“Let’s go!” Cirno said to Daiyousei before flying away.

Seeing that Cirno decided to give u- make a tactical retreat, Daiyousei breathed a sigh of relief and hurriedly flew alongside Cirno.

To be honest, Meiling wouldn’t care if Cirno continued to stay. If they tried to attack her, she could simply just brush them off while eating. Of course, if she had the gall to interrupt mealtime, she wouldn’t go easy on the ice fairy.

Finishing lunch, Meiling patted her belly and felt content. She placed the bento and emptied cup back on the cart for the fairy maid to retrieve.

It was about afternoon, and Meiling continued standing by her post. Watching. Standing guard by the Scarlet Devil Mansion’s gate.

The afternoon Sun was warm and gentle. Although Meiling had already dozed off in the morning, after eating her lunch, she couldn’t help but feel a drowsiness overtake her again with how gentle the Sun was on her face.

Leaning against the brick wall, her eyes struggled to stay open, and she simply gave in to the darkness.
