Hong Meiling Sleepwalks Through the Heavens

Chapter 26 - Plusle and Minun

Hong Meiling exited towards the East of Celestic Town. If you were to pass through Route 210 and 215, you will be able to reach Veilstone City. However, the journey is relatively long, and it would take an entire day on foot.

Of course, with Meiling’s speed, she would arrive in no time.

But there’s no need to do so. Cynthia suggested that I capture some wild Pokémon along the way.

As she skipped down the path, she could see dense grass and trees on both sides of the road, which is usually where wild Pokémon reside. If you decide to venture through the grass, you could bump into wild Pokémon at any moment.

Meiling wasn’t worried at all, and decided to plunge deep into the grassy path beside the road.

The grass and trees occupy a large area, stretching endlessly as far as the eye can see. The weeds beneath her feet tickled her knees.

However, despite walking for a while, she didn’t encounter anything.

Are you kidding me? I would bump into a wild Pokémon every two seconds in game, so why have I not bumped into anything yet?!

However, just as she was complaining inwardly, she could sense the grass moving.

Finally!

The Pokémon was like a coyote crouching within the grass, prowling towards her. It was as if it wants to launch a sneak attack on her.

Of course, she could sense it. Enhancing her senses, she could see that it was a Poocheyna. Its body is covered in a light-gray fur, with the fur on its face and limbs a darker gray.

Meiling had no interest in fighting it.

Her requirements for capturing Pokémon are simple – good appearance, good strength. If they have both, great; if not, at least one condition must be satisfied.

Appearance-wise, they must be as lovable as an Eevee, or as graceful as a Gardevoir, or as majestic as a Lucario.

And in Meiling’s standards, despite Poocheyna’s dog-like appearance, neither its current form or its evolved form satisfies Meiling’s aesthetic standards.

Mightyena is a popular Pokémon, but Meiling didn’t bother.

With Meiling’s eyes trained on the patch of grass that hid the Poocheyna, it knew that it had been exposed, and instead pounced on her.

Meiling simply chuckled and stretched out her index finger, flicking the pouncing Poocheyna on the forehead.

She only used a trace of her strength, but she sent Poocheyna flying – it arced across the air for more than ten meters before crashing to the ground like a shooting star. Its forehead now has a red, swollen patch.

The Poocheyna fled immediately, whimpering as it limped away.

Now, she can continue to search for desirable Pokémon.

However, it seems that it was difficult for her to find the Pokémon she wants.

She encountered Geodude, Bibarel, Kecleon, Volbeat, etc. Some of them would pounce on Meiling, but some chose to stay far away. No matter what, they didn’t fulfill her criteria.

After wandering around the grassy area for about an hour and a half, she decided to venture deeper into the forest, and yet, she still found nothing.

She wasn’t discouraged, however. She knew that she had plenty of time.

And true enough, her eyes lit up upon spotting something.

Next to a large rock, a Plusle and a Minun could be seen playing with one another.

Their appearance resembled Pikachu, but lighter in color, with their ears resembling a rabbit’s. Both of them are a pastel yellow, and their ‘blush’ holds their electric charge. The difference between them is that Plusle, the one with red ears, hands, and tail, holds positive charge, while Minun, who has blue ears, hands, and tail, holds negative charge.

By themselves, they are not very strong, but together, their strength increases exponentially.

Most Pokémon battles, including the Celestic Town competition, are not Double Battles.

Meiling didn’t care, however. The most important thing to her right now is that they are extremely cute!

Seeing such a menacing person approach them, the Plusle and Minun stopped playing with one another, and fled immediately.

She simply phased forward, blocking their escape route before flicking the two Pokémons’ foreheads.

The two immediately felt shock coursing through their body, followed by an instantly paralysis. Meiling gently tossed two Poké Balls, and the two were captured. The Poké Balls shuddered slightly before calming down.

Again, she barely used any strength, which was enough to cause the two to faint immediately.

As she collected the Poké Balls, the electronic voice of the Pokédex sounded, “Plusle and Minun have been added to your Pokédex.”

She tapped on her Pokédex to check them out.

“Plusle is an Electric-type Pokémon – it is able to produce sparks in its hands and mimic the appearance of pompoms to cheer up its allies! It is 0.42 meters tall and weighs 4.21kg, and is male. His abilities are: Nuzzle, Growl, Helping Hand, Thunder Wave, Charge, and Discharge.”

“Minun is also an Electric-type Pokémon,” the Pokédex continued. “Alongside Plusle, it is able to generate electricity that soothes and energizes the soul. It is 0.39 meters tall and 4.18kg, and is female. Her abilities are: Nuzzle, Fake Tears, Helping Hand, Thunder Wave, Charge, and Shock Wave.”

What a useful thing this is! Meiling thought as she listened to the Pokédex. All this information in the palm of my hands!

The average height and weight of these two Pokémon is 0.4 meters and 4.2kg, but each individual Pokémon is bound to have their differences.

Plus, they are male and female respectively. They might be a pair!

Thinking of this, she thought of her Heatran, and tapped on its profile in the Pokédex.

“Heatran is a Legendary Fire and Steel-Type Pokémon that resides in the caves of volcanoes. It is able to grab objects with its cross-shaped claws and walk on steep cliffs and ceilings. It is 1.72 meters long, 430.17kg, and is male. His abilities are: Lava Plume, Flamethrower, Heat Wave, Magma Storm, Stone Edge, Metal Sound, Iron Head, Leer, and Scary Face.”

N-nine abilities, Meiling gulped. Except for Leer and Scary Face, he used the seven other abilities in our fight.

Closing the Pokédex, she released her Plusle and Minun.

Bouncing out, the two looked at Meiling in confusion, obviously still in a daze from being captured. However, after recognizing that she is their Trainer, they smiled at her.

How scary… what dark magic are they putting into these Poké Balls? If they were me, I would’ve started zapping at me!

This doesn’t necessarily mean that Pokémon will never betray their trainer. For some stronger Pokémon, if the Trainer displays a weak personality, they may choose to leave. In the same way, if the Trainer is abusive, the Pokémon will choose to escape.

Meiling took out some Pokémon food and an empty bento box from the large bag that Cynthia gave her, pouring it into the bento for them to enjoy.

Plusle and Minun’s diet usually consists of wild fruits. They seemed hesitant, and sniffed at the Pokémon food, wondering if they should eat it.

As they licked it, however, their eyes immediately lit up.

Pokémon food is prepared by processing plants, and their texture and taste is consistent to what a Pokémon likes.

At first taste, they couldn’t stop eating and stuffed as much food into their mouths as possible, displaying a happy expression.

However, at this moment, the Poké Ball in Meiling’s waist grew strangely hot, and Heatran leapt out on his own volition.

Meiling’s eyes drooped and stared at Heatran. This isn’t a good sign…

Immediately, Heatran stomped towards the Plusle and Minun, and although he couldn’t speak, the look in his eyes could not be anymore obvious.

“How dare you lowly Pokémon eat before the Legendary Pokémon does?” his eyes conveyed.

The two delicately hugged at each other and backed away, shivering. Only then did Heatran let out a low growl of satisfaction and dug in himself.
