Honkai Simulator: I'm Really not Seele!

Chapter 17: People die when killed, simulate and open

"Well! I think Bronya's suggestion is quite reasonable. What do you think, Kiana?"

Looking at the map, Mei quickly assessed the situation. The suburb they needed to reach was indeed some distance away, but as long as they could navigate a rough, muddy road, it wouldn't take more than half an hour to get there.

Mei nodded slightly, already leaning towards Bronya's suggestion. She then turned her gaze to Kiana.

"Hmph! Since Mei agrees, I have no objections!" Kiana crossed her arms and huffed.

She knew deep down that Bronya's suggestion was much safer than her own reckless idea. Even though she felt reluctant, she wasn't the type to oppose just for the sake of it, especially in a situation this serious. It wasn't just about her own safety—it was about Mei's as well. Even if she had to swallow her pride in front of that brat Bronya, she would do it.

But what truly made Kiana back down so easily was something she couldn't bring herself to admit.

The moment she heard Bronya suggest this particular route, an odd, almost superstitious premonition washed over her. It wasn't logical, but she had experienced this feeling before, and every time she followed it, fortune always seemed to favor her.

After all, she was someone blessed with absurd luck, officially recognized as someone who could pull an S-rank Valkyrie with a single draw. So, how could she just ignore this gut feeling?

There was no way someone as lucky as her would be led into danger. No—this sensation was different. It told her that something good was waiting for her at the end of this path.

"Since there are no objections, let's get moving."

Time was of the essence. Delays could bring unexpected trouble, and no one could predict what they might encounter on the way.

Kiana, who usually enjoyed butting heads with Bronya, surprisingly didn't argue this time. Once they finished a short rest, the three of them quickly set off, following the map's direction towards the residential area where Lunelle was.

At the same time, completely unaware of their approach, Lunelle was dealing with her own problems.

If she knew what was happening, if she knew those three were heading straight for her—

She would probably turn pale, her expression twisting into an abstract grimace, and scream internally:

'Don't come over here!!!'

But for now, Lunelle had no idea. She had more pressing concerns.

As the impact of the third Honkai event spread across Nagazora City, she had witnessed the terrifying reality with her own eyes—zombies emerging one after another, swarming the streets like mushrooms sprouting after the rain.

Luckily, the area where Lunelle lived was remote, one of the least populated suburbs of Nagazora. Under normal circumstances, this was an inconvenience, but now, it was a blessing. The Honkai outbreak had turned the bustling parts of the city into a death trap, yet here, in this forgotten corner, the risk factor was much lower.

Her rental apartment was on the second floor of a five-story building.

The zombies created by the Honkai weren't like those in movies. They weren't mindless creatures driven purely by hunger; rather, they were incomplete, degraded versions of Honkai-corrupted entities. They retained their aggression but lacked intelligence. If they couldn't sense a living presence, they wouldn't act. More importantly, they didn't have the ability to climb.

Because of this, Lunelle—unlike those poor souls on the first floor—wasn't in immediate danger of being overwhelmed.

In that sense, she had been lucky. But she also knew… this wouldn't last forever.

The zombies were just the beginning. As the Honkai energy continued to spread and accumulate, true horrors would emerge—Honkai beasts. And even the weakest, the fly-like ones, could easily bypass physical barriers and attack from above.

And then there were the stronger ones. Each one capable of obliterating an entire building with ease.

Realizing this, the brief sense of security Lunelle had felt vanished.

She had to prepare.

With no time to waste, Lunelle set about fortifying her tiny apartment.

The first step was sealing off all openings. She shut and locked every intact door and window. However, some had been damaged by the earlier tremors caused by the Honkai surge, leaving them warped and unable to fully close.

Before, she might have just left them be. But that was the old Lunelle. Now, she had the physical strength to do something about it.

She might look small and delicate now, but her body was absurdly strong.

For instance, a single punch from her tiny fist could shatter a grown man's ribs.

With that in mind, Lunelle got to work.

She knew she wouldn't be able to take any large furniture with her if she had to escape. So rather than leaving it behind, she repurposed it. Heavy wardrobes, useless appliances—she dragged them one by one, using them to barricade potential entry points.

Despite her petite frame, she lifted each object with ease. The sight of such a small girl effortlessly hauling massive furniture created an almost comical contrast, but Lunelle had no time to dwell on that.

By the time she finished reinforcing her makeshift fortress, it was already the evening of the next day.

At this point, she recalled something important.

The simulator.

She had asked Systema before—how long did it take for the cooldown to end without entering deep sleep?

Systema had informed her that based on her current state, the cooldown period would fluctuate between one to two days.

And now, a day and a half had passed.

Her heart pounded as she focused her thoughts and summoned the system within her mind.

"Systema, can I start the next simulation now?"

[Simulation cooldown complete. Would you like to begin?]

Lunelle took a deep breath, her lips curving into a smirk.

"Of course. What do I have to lose? It's just a simulation, after all. What's there to be afraid of?"

For the first time, she felt a strange sense of liberation.

Maybe it was the adrenaline. Maybe it was the realization that she was already in too deep.

Either way, she was ready.
