Chapter 7: His appearance has also changed into Seele's shape

[You are dead!]

To maximize his chances of survival when the Honkai erupts, Lunelle pushed himself to the limit.
Setting aside the two simulations that took an entire day, he spent the next two days conducting three additional simulations, refusing to waste even a second.
But every time he entered a simulation, he was killed immediately upon landing.
To make matters worse, the pain from each simulated death was synchronized to his real body, intensifying with every failure. Frustrated, Lunelle suggested to Systema, the simulator AI, that they should just rename the simulator to "Landing Death Simulator."
As an AI, Systema naturally acknowledged Lunelle's feedback and assured him that his suggestions had been noted.
And then, the feedback was promptly ignored.
Of course, Lunelle had expected that. He never truly believed his input would lead to any changes.
His complaint was merely an outlet for his frustration over the constant and instantaneous deaths in his simulations.
However, even with only three seconds to act before each inevitable demise, Lunelle managed to uncover several crucial details.
First, his forcibly assigned talents had transformed his body—his skin was unnaturally pale, and his voice had taken on an ethereal quality.
Secondly, after observing his deaths twice, he confirmed a suspicion: these forced talents were likely inherited from the simulated identity he had been placed into—Seele!
Three seconds was an incredibly short amount of time. However, making slight movements or noticing his own physical characteristics was still possible.
By his third simulation, Lunelle had started exploring the functions of his simulator, attempting an action he wasn't sure would succeed.
According to the playback descriptions, his simulated self was successfully placed in the identity of Seele, even if only for a brief period.
So, within those three precious seconds, wouldn't it be possible to access Seele's status panel and examine her attributes?
Driven by curiosity, Lunelle decided to test this theory during his third simulation. The moment he loaded into Seele's identity, he immediately attempted to open his own attribute panel.
And then—predictably—he died once more, consumed by the embrace of the end in a mere three seconds.
But when the simulation ended and the memories synced to his real self, Lunelle, still caught in the aftershock of death, smirked faintly.
His attempt had worked!
However, it seemed the simulator had anticipated his prying eyes. The attributes of Seele's identity were largely obscured, with many sections filled with "???"
All of her talents and special relationship fields were completely hidden.
The only information available to Lunelle were Seele's basic attribute values, her overall evaluation, and the expected identity name.
What he saw on the attribute panel was:
[Host: Lunelle (Seele Vollerei)]
[Basic Attributes] [Charm: 100] [Intelligence: 20 (100 Hidden)] [Physical Strength: 4+ (??? (Not activated))]
[PS: Intelligence does not directly represent IQ (developer's oversight). The bracketed values indicate the attributes under special conditions. Intelligence mainly influences spiritual strength and willpower. Higher values lead to greater resistance to mental attacks and stronger control over Herrscher powers.]
[Special Attributes] [Honkai Adaptability: ??? ???]
[Affected by the rules of the Honkai World, the higher the host's Honkai adaptability, the stronger their physical body. The current conversion rate of perfect physique to Honkai adaptability is 1:10. Upon standardization, this ratio will become 1:1,000!]
[Talents: ???] [Special Relationship Status: ???]
[Overall Evaluation: An unparalleled, perfect Herrscher vessel. Once fully developed, the host will obtain the power to destroy the world in an instant.]
After getting a glimpse of the attribute panel's hidden potential, Lunelle finally understood just how terrifying it was to be a true chosen one in the world of Honkai.
Take, for example, the Honkai adaptability conversion rate.
Seele's was an outrageous 1:10.
Meanwhile, his own was a pathetic 10:1.
Her talent was at least a hundred times greater than his!
And that wasn't even considering the absurd 1:1,000 rate that would activate upon standardization.
It was truly miserable being a man in a world where the laws themselves seemed to favor certain chosen ones.
After three consecutive instant deaths, Lunelle was left with no choice but to rely on the bare minimum guarantee mechanic, earning a meager 6 points in Honkai adaptability.
Whether this result was fortunate or unfortunate, Lunelle couldn't say.
What he could say, however, was that the three forcibly assigned permanent talents had significantly altered him, though not to an unbearable extent.
Rather than listing out his entire status panel, he focused on the most important changes:
[Permanent Talents Obtained:]
[Eyes of the Vast Ocean (Quality Unknown/Permanent): A special talent granted as part of the guaranteed bonus (gold). Grants the host deep, pure, and flawless eyes that seem to possess an irresistible allure for certain individuals with... particular tastes.] [Affected Stats: Charm +2, Intelligence +2]
[Dark Blue Hair (Quality Unknown/Permanent): Another talent from the guaranteed bonus (gold). Alters the host's hair color to a designated shade and limits their hairstyle choices. Appears to attract individuals with... particular preferences.] [Affected Stats: Charm +1, Intelligence +3]
[Slender Waist (Quality Unknown/Permanent): The final guaranteed bonus talent (gold). Enhances the host's body structure to have a perfect, slender waistline. When hugged by someone, there is a chance their affection increases. Seems to appeal to individuals with... peculiar inclinations.] [Affected Stats: Charm +1, Honkai Adaptability +2]
Summarizing his gains after three simulations:
[Total Stats Gained] Charm: +4 Intelligence: +5 Honkai Adaptability: +2
[Current Attributes] Charm: 12 Intelligence: 10 Strength: 4.4 Honkai Adaptability: 14
In just three days, Lunelle had boosted his Honkai adaptability from 0 to 14.
This meant that, in terms of Honkai adaptability alone, he had already surpassed the average adult female of the Honkai world by nearly threefold.
This rate of improvement was unheard of.
So much so that the Will of the Honkai, which had previously paid him no attention, suddenly took notice of him and performed a scan.
And then, upon realizing he was a mere man with an abysmally low Honkai energy conversion rate, promptly lost interest and dismissed him as insignificant.
It continued to ignore him, treating him like a mere speck of dust.
Even so, this level of adaptability was still far from the threshold required to become a Herrscher.
However, at the very least, if he were to be consumed by Honkai now, he wouldn't turn into a mindless zombie.
At minimum, he'd at least die as a warrior.
And now, the moment had arrived.
According to the simulator's calculations, the Honkai disaster in Nagazora City was set to break out tomorrow.
And with that, Lunelle's final pre-Honkai simulation had come to an end.
