Orli's mind raced frantically. Never had she felt her knowledge and skills so inadequate, but she had to find a solution!
Suddenly, as if divinely inspired, she spotted a potion in the system store:
[Sleeping Draught: Commonly used in transporting dragons and other giant creatures, capable of inducing powerful sleep.]
"That's it, system, exchange!" Orli mentally shouted.
"Sorry, insufficient contribution points," the system responded mechanically.
"Can I use Galleons instead? All my money plus all my contribution points!" Orli pleaded desperately.
"If you don't let me exchange, I'll have to help them myself. If I die, you'll disappear too, right? Please!"
"Detecting potential life-threatening situation for host. Making one-time exception for exchange. Host contribution points zeroed, host pending payments zeroed. Double compensation required for deficit afterwards."
Orli watched as all the numbers in her mind flashed to red negative values. Then she felt something cool in her hand - a small bottle of dark liquid had appeared in her palm.
"Harry! Get away! Jump down!" Orli shouted from behind the pillar.
Fortunately, Harry still had his glasses. He spotted Orli immediately and without hesitation leaped from the troll's back onto a nearby toilet.
The next moment, the bottle in Orli's hand flew high and smashed against the troll's head with a "crack." The black potion ran down the troll's face. It stood dumbfounded for a few seconds, then closed its eyes and fell face-first onto the floor with a thunderous crash that shook the entire floor.
Ron got up from the ground, staring blankly at the troll, panting heavily. Harry stood pale-faced, clutching his chest in shock. For a moment, no one spoke. Finally, Hermione broke the silence:
"Is it dead?"
"No, it's just unconscious," Orli said, helping her up from the floor and using a handkerchief to cover her facial scrapes.
Before they could say more, loud footsteps echoed from the stairway. Moments later, Professor McGonagall burst into the girls' bathroom, followed closely by Snape and Quirrell.
Snape's eyes first swept over Harry, then Ron and Hermione. When they finally landed on Orli, they narrowed dangerously. He bent down to examine the troll carefully.
"You're lucky you weren't killed by the troll!" McGonagall almost roared, her lips white with anger, her voice ice-cold with fury. The young lions had never seen her so angry.
"Why weren't you in your dormitories?!"
A small voice came from behind them - it was Hermione.
"Professor McGonagall, I'm sorry. They were looking for me."
"Miss Granger!"
"I went looking for the troll. I thought I could handle it alone. I'd read about them and thought I knew how..."
Ron looked at Hermione with an expression of pure shock.
"Ron pulled me out from under the sink, Harry stuck his wand up its nose, and Orli used a potion to knock it out. They didn't have time to fetch anyone - I was about to be killed."
Orli hung her head, trying to minimize her presence. Harry stood beside her, acting as if he was completely familiar with this scenario.
"I am very disappointed in you, Miss Granger," Professor McGonagall said, staring at Hermione.
"How could you think you could tackle a mountain troll alone? Five points will be taken from Gryffindor for this."
Hermione lowered her head, her eyes reddening, but she held back her tears.
Orli quietly took hold of her clenched fist, and Hermione quickly squeezed back. They didn't speak or even look at each other, but they both knew they had reconciled, and were closer than ever before.
"However, for your bravery in facing the troll and successfully rescuing your classmate," McGonagall turned to Orli, Harry, and Ron,
"You three each earn five points for Gryffindor. Now, those who are injured, go to the hospital wing immediately."
As Harry and Ron prepared to leave with visible relief, and Orli was about to follow with Hermione, Snape suddenly called her back.
"Waters, stay behind. I have some questions for you."
