"Ginny, where did you get this notebook? It looks exactly like one my grandfather used to have! I'd love to get one too," Orli asked, feigning surprise.

"What notebook?" Ginny gave it a casual glance.

"I don't remember buying it. Must be some sort of freebie? You can have it if you want."

"I could trade you something for it," Orli offered, retrieving a Muggle notebook she'd bought while shopping with Hermione. Though non-magical, its cover glittered with metallic embellishments.

Ginny's eyes sparkled instantly, but she shook her head. "That must be expensive. I couldn't accept it."

"It's really not. You'd be surprised how far wizard money goes in the Muggle world. You can exchange it at Gringotts - that's what Hermione's dad was doing today," Orli pressed the notebook into her hands.

"Besides, I absolutely love that vintage-style notebook of yours. I want to use it for my Potions notes, just like my grandfather did."

"Well, if you're sure about trading..." Ginny agreed hesitantly, turning the Muggle notebook over in her hands with obvious admiration.

Orli gingerly picked up the black diary with her fingertips. This was Voldemort's diary - a vessel for a piece of his soul!

She hastily buried it deep in her trunk and secured the lid firmly. Thankfully, Ginny was too engrossed in examining her new robes to notice her strange behavior.

---

That night, while Ginny drifted off quickly, dreaming of Hogwarts, Orli lay wide awake.

Perhaps she'd overindulged at dinner? As she absently counted the floral patterns on the wallpaper, her thoughts wandered to the diary.

Tom Riddle had been an exceptional student before becoming Voldemort. With her system task still pending... surely asking Tom about Potions couldn't hurt?

If he was willing to share his magical knowledge, maybe her other subjects would become more manageable...

Since no one knew about this, perhaps she could just take a peek at the diary...

If she kept it, maybe she could avoid dealing with Snape altogether...

---

Wait!

Orli jolted violently, suddenly lucid.

What was happening?! She'd been unconsciously drawn to the diary!

She quickly accessed the system store while mentally calling out:

"System, do you have anything that can shield against magic, especially dark magic targeting the soul?!"

"Ding. The following item matches your requirements."

The system displayed an enlarged product slot.

It showed a black velvet-like pouch with the description:

[Magical Safety Storage Pouch: Department of Mysteries creation, specifically designed to contain dangerous magical artifacts and nullify their magical emanations.]

Despite the astronomical price, Orli gritted her teeth and made the exchange.

The moment the diary was sealed in the pouch, Orli felt as if an invisible film had been stripped away from her consciousness. After a brief moment of mental clarity, she was gripped by terror.

This was serious - just brief contact with the diary had affected her so strongly? No wonder Ginny had become so attached to it in the original timeline, confiding all her secrets.

If she had fallen under its influence and inadvertently revealed future events... Orli felt ice course through her veins at the thought.

---

Unable to sleep during the first half of the night due to the diary's influence, and too terrified to rest during the second half, Orli was the complete opposite of the bright-eyed Ginny the next morning, feeling so exhausted she could barely keep her eyes open.
