"It's not a matter of whether I want to witness it or not! The main issue is… it's simply impossible!" Hestia exclaimed. She had lived for an untold number of years, and the worldview she had built over countless millennia was suddenly being challenged. How could she possibly accept such a notion so easily?
Seeing Hestia's stubborn reaction, Alexander sighed and shook his head helplessly. Letting go of Kurumi, he approached Hestia and said with a faint sigh, "Don't use your worldview to judge what others are capable of. Don't assume your perspective defines reality. It's not just anyone—I'm telling you, even a goddess like you could become a member of my Familia."
Alexander's statement wasn't just a boast—it was the truth. But hearing it, Hestia froze in disbelief.
"What?! What nonsense are you spouting? Are you saying I could become a part of your Familia? Are you dreaming? This has to be some kind of joke!"
From her perspective, the idea was absurd. Since ancient times, it had always been the gods who created Familias and granted power to mortals. The notion of a mortal turning a god into part of their Familia was utterly laughable—an insult to her divine dignity!
"Well then," Alexander said with a confident smile, "if you don't believe me, how about we make a bet?"
That smile sent shivers down Kurumi's spine. She exchanged knowing glances with Utaha, and the two women silently reached the same conclusion.
"Kurumi, it looks like Hestia's about to have a rough time."
"No doubt about it," Kurumi replied with a smirk. "Every time Alexander smiles like that, someone ends up regretting it."
Their laughter didn't go unnoticed. Athena, standing nearby, instinctively stepped away from the pair. Even though she exuded grace, she understood one thing clearly: they were absolutely right. Whenever Alexander wore that particular smile, trouble was sure to follow.
"A bet? You're betting with me?" Hestia puffed up her chest, hands on her hips. "Fine! Let's bet! There's no way I'd lose to you!"
Alexander looked at the indignant goddess and shrugged, his tone calm but teasing. "Alright then, how about this? We'll exchange gifts and see who manages to make the other a member of their Familia. Deal?"
"Wait… what?" Hestia hesitated, her confidence faltering slightly. Deep down, she was uncertain. She had no idea what Alexander was truly capable of. What if… just what if he could pull off something she thought was impossible?
As Hestia wrestled with her doubts, Alexander added fuel to the fire.
"Wow, it's so sad. A dignified goddess, yet you don't even have a single Familia member to stand by your side."
"Ugh…" Hestia's face fell. Alexander's words pierced her heart like a dagger.
Her expression drooped as she thought about her lonely life in the dungeon. Despite being a goddess, she had to rely on the kindness of friends to scrape by. She often worked odd jobs and endured humiliation, all because she lacked her own Familia.
If only… if only she had her own Familia. Things would be different.
Alexander saw her hesitation and pushed a little further. "You know, I'm not sure how strong the best adventurers in your world are, but your strongest—Ottar from Loki's Familia—wouldn't stand a chance against me. If you made me part of your Familia, I'd make sure you could walk through the dungeon without a care in the world…"
His words struck a nerve, and Hestia couldn't help but imagine the possibilities. She pictured herself strutting through the dungeon, unchallenged and proud, with Alexander by her side. She envisioned herself finally silencing Loki's snide remarks, standing tall as the goddess she knew she could be.
With Alexander as her Familia member, wouldn't she finally be able to show everyone just how powerful and important she was?
Seeing that Hestia had been thoroughly tempted, Alexander delivered the final blow with a calm and confident sentence.
"I can even let you do the blessing first."
Whoosh!
Those simple words completely broke Hestia's resistance.
"Bet! Bet! Do you think I, a goddess, would be afraid of this? And besides, I'm a goddess! If I go first, how could I possibly lose?"
The more she spoke, the more confident Hestia became, puffing herself up with self-assurance. However, the girls standing behind Alexander struggled to keep a straight face as they watched the scene unfold.
Kurumi smirked, whispering, "This girl… she's done for."
Utaha shook her head, sighing. "Poor, naïve girl… she's boarded a thief's ship without even realizing it."
Athena's expression softened with pity. "Hestia… she's so unfortunate."
Altair: "Alexander even managed to deceive such a simple girl. I need to remember to keep my distance from him in the future."
Setsuna nodded in agreement. "Yeah, definitely."
From their perspective, the moment Hestia agreed to the bet, her loss was sealed. They knew Alexander too well—there was no way he would bet on something where he had even the slightest chance of losing.
Meanwhile, Alexander stretched out casually on the sofa, removing his shirt to reveal his muscular back. He glanced over his shoulder at Hestia and said with a teasing grin:
"Come on then. Get on and make your move."
