Hyberian Wars Chronicles

Chapter 30: Chapter 30: Zone G

Jiela decided to take advantage of her youth, to let him suffer a bit, to teach him a lesson, and to make him realize what reality truly is.

Suddenly, Jiela remembered something and looked at Qianlong seriously, saying, "I have a private commission for you. Do you want to take it?"

Qianlong was surprised to hear this, but in the end, he nodded.

Jiela spoke, "Next time there's a short-term mission, bring this guy along."

Qianlong looked at Jiela in shock and said, "You're not joking, are you?"

"I'll pay you 10,000 Points, as long as this guy doesn't die, it counts as completed," Jiela answered without hesitation.

Jie Ken immediately jumped up, "Sister, are you crazy? 10,000 Points?"

Qianlong pondered for a moment before replying, "Alright."

Jiela looked at Jie Ken, and Jie Ken immediately closed his mouth upon seeing Jiela's eyes.

"Let's settle the bill." Jiela stood up.

Not long after, Jiela packed up the food that Jie Ken hadn't finished and left with him.

Qianlong also stood up to settle the bill, totaling 20 Points.

At this moment, Phantom's voice rang out, "Why accept this mission? It's very inconvenient."

"Because accepting this mission seems like bringing along a burden, but actually, the next mission will receive special attention. After all, the plundering mission is too dangerous. Jiela wouldn't really gamble on that uncertain probability. Moreover, the main reason she chose me is probably due to age; I'm not much older than that boy," Qianlong explained.

"Understood," Phantom replied.

A message popped up from the wristband, and Qianlong was somewhat surprised to open it; it was from Kromi.

"There's a rare part-time job this afternoon, do you want to come?"

"Sure."

Qianlong replied succinctly.

"Meet at the entrance of Zone E at 1 PM."

"Okay."

At this time, in the special department of Zone G, countless staff members were running back and forth in a state of tension, with various prompts and instructions continuously broadcasting.

"Second operation, the freezing liquid will be completed in ten minutes."

"Cell activity values are being collected."

"Personnel near the operation area, begin evacuation."

"External power connection is being inserted."

In the massive special hangar, various machines were proceeding in an orderly manner.

On the transparent high observation platform stood a middle-aged man in a special combat suit, gazing at the colossal machine undergoing final adjustments before him.

"What is Robeli thinking?"

A short-haired woman in a white coat approached from behind.

"Is that what I'm going to pilot?" Robeli asked.

"Don't feel too much pressure; your various metrics match successfully, there's no problem," she reassured.

"This is the fourth-generation machine?"

"Yes, a pinnacle work that transcends eras."

"I don't know why, but it doesn't look like a mech to me; it looks more like a ferocious monster."

The woman in the white coat was momentarily taken aback, then said, "In this era, no matter what exists, as long as it can survive, that's good enough."

Robeli took a deep breath and said, "I understand."

The woman in the white coat reached out and embraced Robeli's back, "It's alright."

Robeli turned around and reached out to caress the woman's face.

"It will be."

At that moment, a small team walked out from behind.

"Colonel Robeli, everything is almost ready. Please follow us."

The woman in the white coat slowly released her hand, and Robeli did not look back, walking straight ahead.

The team's Captain saluted the woman in the white coat and turned to follow.

Before long, the entire base entered a state of alert.

"Second cooling completed."

"External power connection is starting to disconnect, severing connection."

"Auxiliary voltage is normal."

"Signal connection plug is starting to disconnect and is successfully removed."

"Pilot is entering the injection plug."

"Spinal conduction system is released, injection port is opened."

"Connection is ready."

Inside the massive hangar, countless armor plates secured a humanoid mech, standing 50 meters tall, with a menacing head fitted with a metallic horn. On either side of its head, at a 45-degree angle, were 16 sinister, dim eyes tightly closed, and beneath the eye sockets were rows of sharp teeth. If it weren't for the layers of metal armor encasing it, it would be hard to imagine what kind of creature lay within. The pilot plug was accurately inserted diagonally into the mech's cervical spine.

With a click, the pilot plug was perfectly inserted.

"Insertion complete."

"Activating."

The 16 sinister, dim eyes of the mech's head instantly opened, emitting an eerie green light.

"Maintain insertion plug depth at 30."

"Error margin to be kept at +02 to -01."

"Core fixed."

"First contact completed."

In the command room, everyone stared solemnly at the various parameters before them.

"The pilot plug is starting to inject life-sustaining liquid," the woman in the white coat commanded, raising her hand.

Lying in the pilot plug, Robeli quietly watched as the green liquid began to fill around him.

"How does it feel, Robeli?"

"Not bad."

"Beginning the second release."

"T30 neural connection starting, no abnormalities detected."

"Initial connection has no issues."

At this moment, Robeli felt a strange sensation, as if he were immersed in the ocean, enveloped completely.

"Open the exchange circuit."

"Synapse measurement, synchronization rate 43.2%."

"Synchronization rate increasing."

"It seems the experiment is very successful," a deputy on the command platform said, letting out a sigh of relief.

A gloomy-looking man wearing glasses walked out from behind.

"Our members will welcome a new companion."

"Yes," the nearby staff echoed.

"Anlishi, you did well," the gloomy man praised.

The woman in the white coat replied, "This is my job."

"Warning! Warning!"

Suddenly, all the lights on the command platform turned dark red.

"Pilot plug experiencing anomalies!"

"Repeat, pilot plug experiencing anomalies."

Inside the pilot plug, Robeli suddenly heard a strange, mocking laughter.

Then, the world before him abruptly turned red, the red color spreading out towards him. Robeli was startled; he found himself losing control of his body.

Then he suddenly felt an invisible, peculiar presence behind him, reaching out to embrace him.

At that moment, Robeli's mind went blank.

Countless bloody, despairing images flashed through his mind.

Robeli looked down at his hands, watching as red cells began to grow. His entire body sprouted countless cells, which grew larger and larger, covering his whole body, resembling a mass of flesh.

The 16 eerie green eyes of the mech instantly transformed into a sinister crimson.

"Warning, pilot plug is penetrating deeper."

"Warning, pilot is experiencing mental contamination."

"Wa

rning, pilot's mental contamination concentration has reached a medium danger level."

Anlishi rushed to the control panel, anxiously looking at the values displayed.
