Chapter 145: Chapter 145: Uravity Suit (2)
[Third Person's PoV]
Tony led Uraraka to the center of the expansive training room, where a diverse array of obstacles, weights, and simulation targets stood ready to test the full range of her new suit's capabilities. The virtual environment stretched far and wide, and holographic projections shimmered around them, able to mimic various landscapes and weather conditions. Mountains, forests, and urban scenes flickered in and out, providing a backdrop for nearly any situation imaginable.
"Alright, Uraraka," Tony said, folding his arms as he watched her, a faint smirk playing at his lips. "Let's see what you've got. We'll start with the basics of your Zero Gravity control. Now, with this suit, you're not just flipping gravity on and off. You can actually adjust how light or heavy you want things to be."
Uraraka blinked, looking at him with curiosity and slight disbelief. "Wait, what do you mean by that?"
Tony went on to explain "Before, when you touched something, your Quirk would make it go from normal gravity to full weightlessness in an instant. No gradual transition. But I made an adjustment. Check your visor screen—see that pink dial in the corner? I call it the Gravity Dial. You can control your Zero gravity gradually now, so you're not just limited to 'all or nothing.'"
"That... changes practically everything about how I use my Quirk," Uraraka said in amazement. She took a deep breath and focused on the dial, willing it to turn to 50. She placed a hand on her stomach and activated her Zero Gravity function on herself. Instantly, she felt a tingling sensation as her body lightened—but instead of becoming weightless, she felt almost as if she were underwater, just a fraction of her usual weight. She bent her knees and sprang into the air, her body responding with effortless grace as she soared upward, then descended gently to land several feet away.
"This is... amazing!" she exclaimed, her eyes wide with excitement as she leaped around the room, making controlled jumps that sent her gliding with newfound agility. She felt like a leaf in the wind, able to command every movement.
Her confidence growing, Uraraka adjusted the Gravity Dial to zero, pointing her fingers at a training dummy across the room. Her fingertips glowed a bright electric pink, and her bracelets hummed softly as she fired a pulsing wave of energy. As soon as the pulse struck, the dummy floated up from the ground, as if gravity itself had been switched off just for it.
Landing back on the ground, she grinned and shot several more pink pulses at different objects around the room, watching them lift and drift. But after a moment, her smile wavered slightly, and she pressed a hand to her head, feeling a faint strain. "I don't feel nauseous like before, but there's still this… heaviness. Almost like I'm carrying a weight in my mind."
Tony nodded thoughtfully. "I managed to minimize the vertigo with the suit's ear extensions; they help stabilize your inner ear. But the weight problem is a bit trickier—it's psionic, more mental than physical. Your brain's like a muscle. The more you practice lifting heavier objects, the stronger it'll get. Right now, your max load is about three tons. But if you keep training, that limit should increase."
"Three tons?" Melissa chimed in from the sidelines, letting out an impressed whistle. "That's impressive"
Uraraka beamed with pride, and Tony continued, motioning to her suit's various components. "Along with the Gravity Dial, you've got some new tools. Your wristbands now hold grappling hooks. They're pretty versatile; you can latch onto buildings or pull objects and people toward you. The grappling hooks can even double as guides for the electric pulse, helping you aim it precisely."
Uraraka's eyes sparkled with excitement as she tested the grappling hook. She aimed it past one of the training dummies and launched it toward the far wall. As soon as the hook latched, she pulled herself forward with a swift, controlled yank, flying toward the wall while she punched a nearby dummy with her other hand. She released the hook, landing smoothly and spinning around to face another target. With a quick flick of her wrist, she launched another hook to dummy before sending a pink charge at it, watching it float helplessly. Grinning, she spun the dummy in the air, then hurled it toward the wall, where it shattered into a spray of digital pixels.
"And then there's the rocket boots," Tony added, watching her progress with approval. "That was one of the main reasons we needed this suit in the first place. Along with the gravity adjustments, the padding on your gloves and boots lets you cling to walls. Pretty handy for tight spots."
Uraraka took a moment to look over her hands and feet, testing the grip. She took a running start, dashed up a nearby wall, and quickly found herself perched high above the ground, staring down with exhilaration. With her abilities enhanced in so many new ways, she felt like a whole new hero.
"Alright, now for my favorite feature," Tony said with a grin. "Tap your wristbands together twice."
Uraraka looked down at her wristbands and gave them a double tap. Suddenly, the colors shifted, transforming her suit from its familiar pink hue into a regal, deep purple that shimmered under the training room lights.
"It changes color? That's awesome!" Toru exclaimed, nodding approvingly. "So, if you don't feel like wearing pink one day, you can go with purple instead!"
Tony slowly turned toward Toru, one eyebrow raised in incredulity. "Do you seriously believe my favorite feature of the entire suit is just that it changes color?"
"Could be," Toru shrugged, unbothered.
Tony sighed, pressing his palm to his forehead and shaking his head. "Anyway," he continued, regaining his focus, "I call this mode 'Pressurizer Mode.' It lets you add gravitational force to your target. One pulse adds the equivalent of Earth's gravity, two pulses double that, and so on. It's perfect for pinning down opponents."
"What?!" Uraraka gasped, staring at her hands in amazement. "You've practically just redefined my quirk! How did you even make this possible?"
"Simple," Tony replied with a proud smile. "The electric pulse you send out causes the gravitons in a person to disperse, but I've reversed the charge. Instead of dispersing, they're drawn toward your target, essentially amplifying gravity around them." He gestured toward the far side of the room. "Go ahead, give it a try."
Uraraka eyed her hands with awe, then turned to face a practice dummy across the room. Focusing, she flicked her wrists, releasing a faint purple pulse that struck the dummy. The effect was instant; the dummy's movements slowed, its frame sagging under the newfound weight. She released a second pulse, and the dummy slumped further, practically anchored to the ground by the intensified gravity.
"You can also adjust the gravity levels to suit your needs," Tony added. "And to release the pressure, just do it like you would with your Zero Gravity ability."
Taking a breath, Uraraka pressed her fingers together, and the dummy instantly returned to its upright stance. "This… this is insane," she murmured, her hands trembling slightly.
"Oh, there's more." Tony's grin widened. "With Pressurizer Mode, you can also channel a short burst of super strength through your movements. Just concentrate on your hands and feet—try a punch."
She took a steadying breath, clenching her fists. Focusing, she swung a punch at the metal punching pad nearby. Her fist connected with a satisfying, resonant clang, as if amplified by an unseen force.
Numbers flashed on a nearby monitor, spiking to around 4,000—equivalent to about two tons of force. Uraraka winced slightly, flexing her wrist. "My hand felt really heavy when I punched."
"Naturally," Tony replied, crossing his arms. "You added weight to your fist. With practice, it'll feel second nature."
Uraraka looked down at her hands, then back at Tony, a mix of excitement and nervousness crossing her face. "If… if I may ask, how much would something like this suit cost?"
"It's free," Tony replied smoothly. "Part of the deal."
"I-I know," Uraraka stammered, rubbing the back of her neck, "but… if you actually put this up for sale, how much would it cost?"
Tony's expression was unreadable. "I'd rather not say."
"Huh? Why?"
"Because if I told you, you'd probably start worrying about the value and wouldn't want to use it to its full potential, or not use it at all and try to give it back" he replied, giving her a pointed look.
Uraraka chuckled awkwardly, shaking her head. "Yeah… that sounds like something I would actually do."
"Exactly," Tony said, smirking. "So let's just call it a gift from a friend and leave it at that."
Feeling a wave of gratitude, Uraraka impulsively stepped forward and hugged him, surprising both herself and Tony. "Thank you for this. I'll make sure to treasure it."
Melissa shot them a quick look but remained quiet. Tony awkwardly patted her head. "Yeah, yeah… it's just a suit. Don't get all sentimental."
Uraraka quickly stepped back, blushing, unused to showing affection so openly. Tony cleared his throat and reached into his pocket, pulling out a sleek, high-tech pink phone.
"Here, an instruction manual for the suit."
Uraraka blinked in surprise. "But… that's a phone?"
"Yes," Tony replied, looking at her as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. "What, did you expect a printed booklet on all the suit's functions?"
"Well… yeah, kinda."
"Woman, just take the phone." He pressed a button on its side, causing the phone to match the suit's purple color. "It syncs with the suit, and it's got everything you need to learn about it. Besides, how else are you supposed to figure out all the features?"
Smiling, Uraraka accepted the phone, running her fingers over its smooth surface. "You did this because you saw my old phone, didn't you?"
Tony scoffed, turning away with a dismissive wave. "And people call me narcissistic. It's an instruction manual, not a charity case." He glanced back, smirking. "Anyway, I'll leave you ladies to the training room. I've got work to do."
Melissa rolled her eyes as Tony exited. "He really can't admit when he's being kind, can he?"
Uraraka just chuckled, clutching the phone close.
