I am Thor

Chapter 209: Chapter 209: War Breaks Out

Wong chuckled, his laughter echoing through the stillness. His sense of humor was infectious, even if it wasn't always well-timed.

"It's over," he said, wiping a tear from his eye. "We did it."

Strange stood nearby, his expression far less celebratory. "We succeeded, but not without consequences," he said quietly. "Breaking the laws of nature, as we did, never comes without a price. Karma will catch up to us—sooner or later."

"I'm done," Mordo said, his voice cold as he turned to leave. "We've tampered with forces we can't control. You've broken the rules just like she did. It's only a matter of time before we all pay for it."

Wong hesitated as Mordo walked away, glancing at Strange. Before disappearing into the distance, Mordo paused and added, "That Asgardian who visited Kamar-Taj twice—Thor, wasn't it? He's another rule-breaker, isn't he?"

Without waiting for a reply, Mordo continued on his way, leaving Wong and Strange in uneasy silence.

The events in Hong Kong, though extraordinary, received little media attention. A few outlets reported strange phenomena, but public interest quickly shifted to a more pressing crisis.

After receiving Bruce Banner's urgent call, Tony Stark wasted no time contacting the military. But his warnings were met with derision.

"Since when did Iron Man become such a coward?" one general scoffed. "A third-world country like Wakanda? We could wipe them off the map in minutes."

Frustrated, Tony divulged some of Wakanda's secrets, including its Vibranium reserves and advanced technology. His effort was met with laughter.

"Black Panther? Vibranium suits? What is this, a comic book?" the general mocked.

Defeated, Tony left the meeting in a fury. With few options left, he headed to Trudheim Manor, hoping Thor could help.

Natalia met him at the door, her expression calm but resolute. "Thor's not here," she said. "But I can speak on his behalf."

"Then help me convince him to act," Tony pleaded. "This could escalate into global chaos."

Natalia shook her head. "Thor's position is clear: until the Sokovia Accords are repealed, he will not intervene. And neither will I. We've been burned too many times. You want us to throw everything into saving the world again, only to be accused of breaking the law when it's over? No, Tony."

"But the people—"

"The people elected those politicians," she interrupted coldly. "And we didn't cause this crisis. Wakanda's decisions are theirs alone. It's not our responsibility to clean up their mess."

Tony opened his mouth to argue, but Natalia wasn't finished. "There's one more thing," she added. "Thor contacted me. If war breaks out and Earth becomes unsafe, Asgard will extract everyone from Trudheim Manor via the Bifrost. We'll leave Earth behind."

Her words hit Tony like a punch to the gut. He left the manor in stunned silence.

Back at home, Tony hesitated before pulling out an old, familiar phone. He dialed a number he hadn't used in years. When the line connected, he spoke quickly. "Steve, it's me. We need you. War is coming, and the Sokovia Accords won't matter much longer."

That afternoon, chaos erupted across the Western world. In coordinated attacks, Wakandan fighter planes targeted major cities. The most shocking was in New York Harbor, where the Statue of Liberty was obliterated by a missile. The Wakandan planes vanished into the clouds, invisible to radar and the naked eye.

Elsewhere, key government buildings and landmarks were destroyed, including George Washington's former residence. The United States erupted in rage and panic as Wakanda claimed responsibility for the attacks.

For the first time in decades, the American mainland had been struck. Riots broke out in the streets, and political chaos swept through Washington. But amidst the turmoil, a rare moment of unity emerged. The government authorized the formation of TF58, a task force led by three Nimitz-class aircraft carriers, to launch an immediate assault on Wakanda.

The fleet set sail, brimming with confidence in its overwhelming firepower. But the Atlantic Ocean became their graveyard. Wakandan technology struck with brutal precision, crippling the task force in a swift and decisive battle.

The largest naval engagement of the century lasted just thirty minutes. By the end, the American fleet was utterly annihilated.
