I Became a Goblin Ancestor

Chapter 21 - Gate Livestream

“Oh my, hello!”

At the 23rd district gate where I arrived by flagship.

Perhaps because the General Management Team had cleared out all the people around the gate except for security personnel, when I got off at the gate entrance that looked like a ghost town at first glance, the one who greeted me was the General Management Team’s cameraman who was said to have arrived before me.

A middle-aged man in his 40s with quite a bushy beard.

He ran towards me with a camera-equipped hat and three helicams, and gave me a bow.

“Yeah, hello.”
“Yes, nice to meet you, Hunter Shin-yeon! I’m Kim Hyun-seop, the cameraman who will be in charge of filming you today.”

He smiled brightly and greeted me again, even though hearing informal speech from someone younger in appearance than him must be quite unpleasant.

I smiled slightly at Hyun-seop’s seemingly friendly personality, but then looked around, puzzled by the surroundings that were different from what I expected.

The only ones here at the gate entrance now were 10 Punishment Team security personnel standing on either side of the gate, me, and Hyun-seop in front of me.

“Are you handling the filming alone?”

As I had expected at least three people to come, I asked with round eyes, and to my question, Hyun-seop laughed and answered.

“If there are too many people, it might interfere with your movement, Hunter. So I alone, a former B-rank hunter, was put in charge of filming. And even without people, these bird-type helicams can film everything without missing anything, so don’t worry.”
“Is that so? That’s quite to my liking.”

If he’s really filming alone out of consideration as Hyun-seop said, it would certainly cause less interference for me.

Plus, since he says he’s a former B-rank hunter himself, he should be able to take care of himself at least minimally.

Therefore, judging that there was no need to use what I had prepared to protect the cameramen, I suddenly turned to look at the helicams buzzing around beside me.

“You’re not already filming, are you?”
“Ah, no! We’re not broadcasting yet. We plan to turn on the cameras just before entering the gate.”

Hyun-seop’s words that they would start broadcasting just before entering the gate to prove that the gate I’m entering is indeed the 23rd district one.

I nodded once at that and then tossed the Hwa-gon I was holding onto my shoulder.

“Alright, let’s go then.”
“Yes! Then I’ll prepare for broadcasting now.”

As I took the first step, Hyun-seop followed behind me, adjusting the cameras of the helicams.

And as we approached the Punishment Team security guards standing at the entrance, they immediately made way without any verification procedure.

I smiled at my heart, which started burning as I felt the chilly wind flowing from the gate brushing past my legs.

“Well… shall we see just how amazing and wonderful this dungeon is?”

The time to satisfy the curiosity I hadn’t been able to resolve until now.

The red light indicating the start of broadcasting blinked from the camera.

“As you can see, Hunter Shin-yeon, who has been causing much controversy, is entering the upper A-rank gate of the 23rd district…”

“Ah, it’s started.”

At the Hunter Association located in the 11th district.

Along with the soft voice of a woman from the TV, an employee’s voice echoed in the Hunter Association bustling with numerous hunters and staff today as well.

A voice that would have been buried in the chatter of hunters and the noisy work processing sounds of staff on a normal day.

But for some reason, that single small voice clearly filled the association today.

So clearly that it echoed.

And the reason for this could be easily understood just by looking around the association once.

“……”

After all, the hunters who should be exchanging mana stones and looking for their next gate, and the staff who should be processing their work, were all fixing their gazes on the huge TV screen in the center of the association.

“As this is her first gate challenge, it could be quite dangerous, but Hunter Shin-yeon looks very relaxed even in the dungeon of the Snake People (蛇人族) in the 23rd district gate.”

The hunters and staff had come out to the association as usual, but since the General Management Team had notified them of a live gate broadcast to prove their exclusive hunter today, everyone in the association had been looking only at the TV since the moment it was tuned to the General Management Team’s broadcast channel earlier.

And in the TV that everyone’s attention was focused on, a white-haired girl smiling relaxedly as the broadcast woman said.

The one called Shin-yeon by name was whistling and playing around while lightly stepping into the dungeon.

“She’s completely crazy…”
“Is she saying that the 23rd district gate is simple?”
“She’ll learn once she gets badly hurt…”

Seeing her overflowing with composure to the point that her liver seemed to be popping out, small mutterings could be heard from here and there inside the association.

Of course, the owners of these mutterings were A-rank hunters who had experienced the dungeon of the Snake People in the 23rd district gate.

The 23rd district gate, called the Snake People’s dungeon because it was a world that different races with snake characteristics had crossed over to.

Those A-rank hunters knew how dangerous the monsters coming from the Snake People’s dungeon were, and because they had been badly hurt by the monsters there, they couldn’t help but treat Shin-yeon, who was even playing around, as a crazy girl.

Of course, Seo-hyun, the leader of the Punishment Team, had said that “Shin-yeon is worthy of an S-rank hunter,” but that had long been accepted among hunters as a lie written to quell the initial controversy.

Therefore, the A-rank hunters trembled with the fear they knew, and the hunters below that rank bit their lips at the unknown fear, focusing on Shin-yeon’s actions.

Boom—!

“Bad luck, they came out right away.”
“Centaur golems…”
“And a whole group… She’ll surely die…”

The next moment, as the rocks in front of Shin-yeon began to move and form shapes, sighs filled the association.

The top-tier monster of the Snake People dungeon, the Centaur Golem.

It was literally a stone golem in the shape of a centaur, half-human and half-horse, with each one measuring at least 6m in size, and they were monsters that moved in groups of at least 4-5.

It was nearly impossible to catch them with swords, spears, or bows, and they had to be smashed with hammers, maces, or magic, making them tricky opponents.

Such monsters appeared in front of Shin-yeon in a group of 5.

“Ce-Centaur Golems…! The first monsters encountered in the first dungeon. We’ll have to see how Hunter Shin-yeon responds!”

“How is she going to catch Centaur Golems with that iron bat?”
“It probably won’t even scratch them…”
“…There’s nothing more to see.”

Although the woman said we should watch Shin-yeon’s response, the weapon Shin-yeon was holding in the TV was none other than an iron bat.

It looked like nothing special, just an iron bat.

Of course, being the exclusive hunter of the General Management Team, it wouldn’t be an ordinary iron bat, but it wasn’t a blunt weapon with a wide surface area like a hammer or mace, so it was insufficient to break Centaur Golems.

Therefore, as it was obvious that she would soon be crushed by the stone weapons or hooves of those Centaur Golems, some hunters closed their eyes tightly.

They turned their eyes away, not wanting to see the horrible sight that would be visible if they kept their eyes open.

However.

The sound that was heard the moment they closed their eyes was a sound that defied everyone’s expectations.

Boom—!!!

Not the sound of being crushed, but a thunderous boom like an explosion of rocks bursting.

Then, the low horse-like neigh of the Centaur Golems echoed through the association via the speakers.

At that unexpected sound, those who had closed their eyes slowly opened them, and at the sight they saw on the TV, they gaped.

No, not just them, but even the woman doing the broadcast was gaping in surprise.

“Hu-Hunter Shin-yeon caught and threw a Centaur Golem with her bare hands! What an unbelievable…”

Of course, because Shin-yeon had grabbed the hoof of a Centaur Golem that was about to stomp on her with her bare hands and threw it towards another golem.

“She just grabbed and threw that rock?”
“Huh…”
“Am I seeing this right?”

And two Centaur Golems were shattered in an instant by that throw.

Although they were still alive, with more than half of their bodies already blown away, they were not in a state to engage in battle, and then when the remaining Centaur Golems were confused, Shin-yeon moved again.

『Adjusting appropriately… the next one with Hwa-gon…!』

This time, no one closed their eyes and everyone clearly watched the series of actions Shin-yeon performed.

The series of actions where Shin-yeon jumped up from where she had deflected the hoof attack and swung the bat she was holding tightly in her hand towards the head of the Centaur Golem standing in front of her.

It was undoubtedly an ordinary bat swing, but what happened when the bat touched the golem’s head was enough to surprise everyone again.

Boom—–!!!!!

An even louder thunderous sound than when she threw the Centaur Golem rang out thrillingly.

And befitting that thunderous sound, the head of the Centaur Golem hit by Shin-yeon’s bat was completely shattered and scattered on the ground where they originally were, and at that sight, the remaining two Centaur Golems chose to flee, having lost their will to fight.

The sound of horse hooves clattering and echoing throughout as the Centaur Golems turned around and fled.

However, unfortunately, their belated escape couldn’t escape Shin-yeon’s grasp.

『Now, grow grow, presto!』

With a strange incantation, Shin-yeon landed on the ground and threw her bat, which grew enormous in the blink of an eye and separated the bodies of the two fleeing Centaur Golems from their lower halves.

Now, without further ado, with a painfully loud collapse sound, the golems crumbled and eventually extinguished the light in their eyes.

And Shin-yeon’s battle, which caught 5 Centaur Golems in just under 5 minutes, was enough to shut the mouths of everyone in the Hunter Association.

Shin-yeon’s battle, which completely erased the words of inequality and discrimination that everyone had in their hearts.

But even though they had already surpassed the limit and acknowledged it, Shin-yeon’s conquest of the 23rd district gate had only just begun.
