I Became a Hive Mind in the Game

Chapter 52 - Subjugation Force

To deal with the Orcs of the plains, I created new monsters based on the Lizardmen genes I just acquired.
Because they use Lizardmen genes, they have scales and reptile-like heads, but at the same time, they are monsters created by applying dragon species genes.
The name of these monsters, which are prototypes of Dragonians—the next-generation humanoid monsters that Lizardmen will evolve into—is Drakemen.

These monsters, created using the genes of ground dragons (Drake), have a height of around 3 meters, far exceeding the 2-meter height of typical low-grade Orcs.
Defense power far surpassing mediocre Lizardmen, superhuman strength unbelievable for a bipedal type. Add to this Troll-level regeneration and tireless stamina.
With Energy Claws(C) on their limbs and Flame Blasters(C)—organic flame throwers—installed inside their throats, 2,000 of these pseudo-dragon species were created.

Of course, you might wonder if just 2,000 can handle over 500,000 Orcs, but naturally, knowing this is impossible, I prepared many other things as well.
First, there are 2,000 animal—more precisely, dinosaur-type monsters—created to give a more wild humanoid atmosphere, which these Drakemen will ride.
Drakemen in the rear ride monsters resembling small theropods or Gallimimus for mobility, while those in the front line ride large yet sturdy monsters resembling Triceratops or Ankylosaurus for breakthrough power.
In the case of the Imperial Guards mixed with other Drakemen in Drakemen bodies for combat experience, they specially ride monsters in the form of large theropods like Tyrannosaurus.

Thanks to this, they can all show tremendous mobility as if they were cavalry, and in addition to this, I mobilized 1,000 reconstructed Lizardmen as a kind of auxiliary force.
Of course, they are absolutely not for frontal combat.
Their role is to ride flying monsters resembling pteranodons and hunt fleeing Orcs while flying around.
Even if they’re just remnants, they’d be low-grade, but among these Lizardman auxiliary forces are mixed medium-grade Lizardmen, and the rest, even if low-grade, are all veterans who lived as hunters in the dangerous jungle.
Moreover, the pterosaur monsters ridden by these veterans are each grade 6 monsters, and even if they die, considering that their consciousness (soul) can be recovered and resurrected, there’s not really a problem.

Thus, the main force consisting of 2,000 Drakemen cavalry and 1,000 aerial cavalry of the auxiliary force was completed, but with only these guys, totaling just 6,000 including their mounts, it’s physically impossible to face an Orc army of over 500,000 excluding livestock.
Of course, since the Orc army is a loose coalition made up of tribal alliances of several hundred each, they would eventually win if they fought, but the important thing is that my goal is the extinction of Orcs.
Since Orcs also ride tamed monsters, there’s a high possibility of missing them if the force is small, so I have several means to supplement this small number of troops.

First, there are the humanoids captured in the process of driving Orcs out of the jungle and stabilizing public order, called slave soldiers.
Most of these slave soldiers, numbering about 7,000—about 5,000 are Goblin-type monsters.
Goblins. Monsters like distorted fairies with green skin and long ears, simply put, they are representative small humanoid species with a height between about 1 meter to 1.6 meters.
They are agile and intelligent, making them good with their hands, and thus specialized in stealth and ambush, but… in fact, aside from this, they don’t have any particular advantages.
Pure Goblins are limited to grade 7, and only a very small number of subspecies (Hobgoblins/Giant Goblins) that appear only as mutations, not inherited, can evolve to medium-grade.
Of course, Goblin subspecies that have evolved to medium-grade are not very strong and are overwhelmingly inferior to other medium-grade monsters, so in the end, Goblins in the jungle were at the bottom of the ecosystem, living in scattered groups of dozens.

Anyway, in the case of the 2,000 slave soldiers other than the 5,000 Goblins forcibly brought, many are medium-grade humanoid monsters as they need to be strong enough to survive alone in the harsh jungle.
There are low-grade humanoid monsters like Jungle Kobolds or Sugarglidemen, but in fact, most of these 2,000 are comprised of just three races.

First, there are Ogres.
Ogres, born as grade 8-9 and becoming grade 6 when adults, are large humanoid monsters with bulky builds standing about 3.5-4 meters tall.
Surprisingly, their inconspicuous yellowish-brown skin is tough enough to deflect infantry laser rifles without a force field, and inside this skin is a thick layer of fat that absorbs powerful impacts in one go.
In addition, Ogres’ trademark is their powerful strength. In the game, this was expressed as passively possessing the B-rank Superhuman Strength characteristic despite being a grade 6 monster, and in reality, it’s at the level of crushing alloy lumps with a casually swung wooden club.
It’s ambiguous to say their intelligence is very high, but it’s accurate to say they survived because of the sturdiness of their bodies.

On the other hand, there are monsters similar yet slightly different from these Ogres, namely Trolls—more precisely, Jungle Trolls.
These monsters, which are versions of Trolls adapted to the jungle, with their excellent adaptability to easily adjust to various environments, are actually not much different from their original species living in forests.
Adults grow into grade 5 monsters, with excellent regenerative abilities that easily regenerate severed body parts, and the superhuman strength from their long arms is also tremendous.
However, if there are differences between these Jungle Trolls and the original species, there are mainly three.
One is their high resistance to poison and pollution acquired to survive in the extreme environment of the jungle, another is their unique skin developed for camouflage in the jungle, and the last is their claws containing deadly poison.
Their skin, mottled in green/black/brown, has hair growing that resembles leaves or weeds, allowing them to completely blend into the surrounding environment like a ghillie suit if well hidden.
As for the venomous claws, they are hook-shaped claws on long arms, with a structure where toxic substances consumed are stored in venom glands inside the wrists and then flow through ducts on the inside of the hands.
Various poisons are cocktailed, making the composition different for each individual and difficult to antidote, and this, combined with the fast and overwhelming reach from their long arms, shows combat power different from Ogres.

And the last of these monsters, unlike the other two, has an intelligent aspect.
Its name is Crockman. It’s a monster that’s like a cousin of Lizardmen with an appearance resembling crocodiles among alligators, but unlike Lizardmen, they live solitary lives along rivers.
Capable of underwater breathing, they usually hide in water and attack monsters approaching to drink, with their main targets being Lizardmen coming to fetch water, making them practically the archenemy of Lizardmen.
Therefore, many Crockmen are hunted by Lizardmen, but still, Crockmen persistently survive and become stronger.
This is because they loot and use Lizardmen’s weapons, and their bodies themselves have a structure that becomes stronger in the process of recovering when injured, but…
Well, now they’ve all been killed or captured.

Anyway, these prepared slave soldiers are currently crammed into temporarily made storage rooms and preserved with drugs.
And as a method to control these slave soldiers, a monster specially created for me to directly control in this battle is planned to be used.

This monster, created solely for me to control and lead the slaves with psychic power and move them, has a form of just the brain and spinal cord floating in the air.
No matter how specialized it is for dominating other monsters, and even though I control it directly, being a grade 5 monster, it would probably self-destruct after moving for a certain time, but… well, it doesn’t really matter.
After all, this is just a suicide squad meant to charge at the enemy and wear them down, and there’s a separate allied commander to face the Orc Lord.

‘Seri. Prepare to advance.’
[Yes.]
