Chapter 117: Mind Your Image, Hey!
Chapter 117: Mind Your Image, Hey!
“Ah, Aier! You’ve already started eating? That’s way too fast!”
As Yake and a few others entered the hall, they spotted Aierjisi devouring cake all by herself. The Celebration Feast hadn’t even officially begun yet, and here she was, sneaking in cake – that’s pretty sneaky!
“It’s fine, it’s within reason to have a bit of cake before things start. Besides, not many of the Soldiers here are interested in the cake anyway. If she can finish it all by herself, that’s great! It’ll help prevent waste.”
“But… isn’t it a bit uncouth to eat before the event has actually begun?”
Yake looked at Aierjisi; even if it was permissible to eat cake before the start, it just felt so embarrassing.
“You think so too, huh? I feel the same. This child has always been like this at past feasts, completely oblivious to others’ opinions and only caring about her own little treasures. It’s a troublesome flaw.”
Carl scratched his head. Three hundred years had passed, and his daughter was still so immature. It truly made him uneasy about entrusting the future of the Blood Clan to her.
Though she hadn’t expressed any ambition about taking over the throne.
“By the way, how many has she eaten? If it’s just one or two, it’s not a big deal. I’m worried if she’s devoured too many in one go.”
“Not much, maybe about a dozen?”
“What do you mean not much?! That’s not acceptable! I can’t let her continue like this; I must put a stop to her behavior.”
As a servant, Yake felt it was necessary to correct his master’s rude conduct.
“I feel the same; let’s go over and stop her. I doubt you can do it alone.”
Carl agreed; he simply couldn’t watch his daughter act out like this in front of so many people.
“Huh? Why do I suddenly feel a chill on my back? Yake, Father King, what’s wrong with you two? Are you hungry too? Want some cake?”
Aierjisi turned around, holding out the cake to them, eyes shining with innocence.
“No, we’re not hungry right now. But Aier, I think it’s necessary to correct your behavior.”
“Huh? What’s wrong with my behavior? Why do I need correcting?”
Aierjisi tilted her little head; to be fair, she looked somewhat cute like that. But it was utterly useless to the two of them right now.
“The Celebration Feast hasn’t officially started yet. Just have a nibble or two; don’t gobble down too many!”
“Exactly! I’ve mentioned this to you before. It’s been 300 years; how can you still not change?”
Carl and Yake each took hold of Aierjisi’s arms, trapping her in a tug-of-war stance, forcibly dragging her away.
“Don’t! I’m not done eating yet!”
Aierjisi struggled and wailed, unwilling to leave the little cakes behind.
“At least show some restraint, my Little Princess. In front of so many people, you should maintain some dignity!”
“That’s right. You are the future queen of the Blood Clan; how can you be swayed by mere cake?!”
In that moment, Carl and Yake strangely synchronized, ignoring Aierjisi’s struggles, dragging her out.
“Hey, are cakes really that delicious? I don’t see it! Maybe I should try a couple myself.”
Weirafiya had just thought of that, getting ready to grab a couple of cakes to taste, when suddenly, her neck was caught by the nearby Yaser.
“Miss, you might want to be mindful of your etiquette. Once the Feast starts, you can eat however much you want, but it hasn’t officially begun, so hold off a bit.”
“Why?! Why can Aierjisi do it but I can’t?!”
“Miss, people are different. Besides, you did see what happened to Aierjisi just now, right?”
Feeling Weirafiya still struggling in his grip, Yaser tightened his hold, ensuring she wouldn’t break free.
“Oh, are you all in this hall? You five Meritorious Officials should really enjoy today’s Celebration Feast! Yaser, what are you doing, holding Miss Weirafiya’s neck like that?”
Just then, Gaia walked past the hall, spotting the familiar faces and greeting them.
“It’s nothing; just that my young lady wanted to eat a couple of cakes before things officially started.”
“Then why not let her? It’s just a few cakes.”
“Gaia, it’s easy for you to say that! If we don’t keep an eye on this young lady, she’ll devour all the cakes, just like the Little Princess who was just dragged away.”
“I wouldn’t be that silly, okay?!”
Hearing Yaser’s description of her actions, Weirafiya retorted, claiming she’d never do such a thing.
“Dragged away Little Princess? Now that you mention it, I haven’t seen Aierjisi’s figure around. Nor Yake. Did those two go to another hall? Or did they not come to my Celebration Feast at all?”
Gaia realized at this moment that the two people he was most familiar with were absent from the hall.
“No, Aierjisi ate too much cake, and Yake and Carl were worried that if she ate too much, she wouldn’t have room for the real meal, so they dragged her out.”
“Oh, I see! But with the Blood Clan’s appetite, that little bit of cake shouldn’t affect her ability to eat a proper meal, right? Isn’t she able to eat a lot normally?”
If memory served, during regular meals in the Royal Palace, Aierjisi’s plates would always be stacked high. The kitchen had really been busy for her, preparing food and cleaning the dishes she left behind.
“Well… Gaia, it’s better not to sweat the small details. Just know they’ll be back soon enough. Speaking of which, that outfit of yours looks quite nice today!”
Unlike the black suit Yaser wore, Gaia was sporting a white suit today, with his hair meticulously styled.
“Of course! After all, I’m the host today; I must dress handsomely!”
