I Became the Mentor of the Weakest Demon King

Chapter 267

Chapter 267

The creator of the world. The father of all things.

There existed a being referred to as such. This being, typically called ‘God,’ created the world in the beginning with one principle in mind: that ‘conflict’ is essential for the world to cycle and endure. Though a divine entity, unlike the gods often depicted in legends or tales, this God did not believe in eternal peace.

To this end, the first act God took was to share part of His power to create two seeds: the seed of good and the seed of evil.

God planted the seed of good at the highest point in the world and the seed of evil at the lowest point. Thus, the heavens and hell were formed.

God also created beings of authority to rule over these realms, namely the archangels and the great demons.

Next, the archangels and great demons governed their respective domains and created their subordinates to assist them. These were the angels and demons. Initially, God intended to conclude the structure of the world with these creations, but soon realized something was missing.

A buffer was needed between the heavens and hell, where only conflict would occur. Therefore, He created two additional realms— the human world and the demon world— which held a slightly weaker opposition, existing in a form of conflict that wasn’t as extreme as that between heaven and hell.

In each of these new worlds, He allowed the emergence of humanity and the demon race, two species similar yet completely different. These beings were the lowest tier among those created by God. To ensure these lower-tier races would not become extinct, He bestowed them with unique traits. Humanity received wisdom and unlimited potential, while the demon race gained superior physical abilities and the blessing of magical power compared to humans.

However, a problem arose here. The inherently superior physical abilities of the demon race naturally developed into belligerence, leading to frequent killings among each other. Concerned that they might fall into internal division, God devised a clever solution.

He decided to create ‘a being to unify and govern the demon race.’ Thus, the ten original Demon Kings, known as the Primordial Demon Kings, were born from God.

After creating the Primordial Demon Kings, God took the remaining remnants of His essence to create one more being. This was the progenitor of bloodlines, the first moon, Ersha Scarlet.

As the Primordial Demon Kings and Ersha Scarlet shared the dominion of the demon world, ‘order’ was established in what had been a chaotic realm. God believed that He had completed a perfect system and chose to step back.

He had succeeded in creating a world that maintained balance and opposition between good and evil through which they continually checked and maintained one another.

However, there was a problem. The being known as God fundamentally lacked a physical form and could be considered an abstract thought. Originally omniscient and omnipotent, He found that by creating the world and splintering His power, He was no longer omnipotent.

Without omnipotence and lacking form, the only reason He could sustain life was that all beings recognized His presence. Since God had constantly been repairing the world, this was inevitable.

Nevertheless, when He withdrew from the frontlines, that process ceased. The situation arose where He could do nothing that would remain in the memory of other beings.

At first, naturally, everyone remembered God, but as generations passed, few remained who could recall His existence. By the time the generation that knew God vanished, only the archangels and great demons remained.

In fact, the humans began to revere the archangel Metatron, who communicated directly with them, as the ‘Heavenly God.’

The lack of ‘faith’ became fatal to the creator god, who had turned into a conceptual being after losing his omnipotence. Having existed through the awareness of people, he began to fade from memory, rendering his existence uncertain.

Yet, God held no dissatisfaction. He believed that since He had already accomplished His purpose long ago, it mattered little if He faded into oblivion.

And so, the moment the existence of ‘God’ was entirely replaced by that of the ‘Heavenly God,’ the forgotten creator god perished.

However, even if the conceptual being that was God vanished, the powers He wielded during the creation of the world did not disappear. Those powers naturally persisted.

They did so to the being among all others who received the greatest faith.

For humans, to the being who perfectly replaced the absent God.

Heavenly God Metatron.

Already the ruler of Kether, the being closest to God.

She was the only one who could substitute the vanished God and had received the most faith. Thus, the powers of the vanished God naturally passed to Metatron.

It was then that the way Metatron conducted herself began to change gradually, starting to mimic the absent God. The once bluish-gray eyes she possessed transformed into a gray hue at this point.

The succession of powers.

Though she had already played a significant role as the leader of the heavens, inheriting omnipotent powers was an entirely different matter.

“Indeed… this is still quite overwhelming,”

Especially since she was not a complete god from the beginning, she could not fully utilize this power. Even imperfect powers placed a significant burden on her body, leading her to bleed profusely as a side effect.

Metatron wiped the blood from her body and the surrounding area. The considerable amount of blood vanished completely due to her divine power, and she picked up the veil she had discarded in pain.

“It seems the duration of the power is still short…”

Metatron’s manipulation of Camiel had only been an experiment. It was about evaluating how much of God’s powers she could wield with her own hands.

If one were to speak of the greatest powers of God, it would naturally be the power of creation, however… as an incomplete god, Metatron could not use that power at all.

Several powers aside from creation were also inaccessible to her since she was not a complete god, no matter what methods she attempted. However, among the powers available to her, the most useful was undoubtedly commanding higher-tier beings.

To make it slightly easier for her to manipulate, she had even secretly inserted her divine power into him, yet still experienced such considerable side effects.

“To command a great demon is far from enough.”

Indeed. The designation of a high being did not only apply to archangels.

Great demons were also creations of God. Since God had never interfered with the opposing structures of the world He created, He had never commanded great demons before, but Metatron was different.

She harbored intentions to one day control great demons, destroy hell and the demon realm by their hands, and subjugate all archangels… with the ambition to bring all realms and all beings beneath her.

“I’ll need more faith.”

Judging that faith was necessary to utilize her powers better, Metatron cleared her throat momentarily. Instead of the crackling voice she had previously used with Camiel, she called out to the angel outside the door with a sweet voice.

“Israfel.”

At that, the angel with six wings opened the door and entered. The striking detail was that one of the two middle pairs of wings was not pure white, but instead stained black. Four pure white wings complemented by two black wings.

The angel with the peculiar pairs of wings held a large trumpet in her hands.

“Have you called for me, Lady Metatron?”

“Go down to the human realm and deliver a revelation.”

“A revelation, you say?”

At Israfel’s query, Metatron explained.

“The recent event that transpired in the human realm was an unprovoked invasion from the demon world.”

“…Understood, I will deliver that.”

By attributing the past incident to the demon realm, Metatron intended to instill an even greater animosity among the humans, who already harbored strong negative feelings toward the demon world.

Thus, the heavenly realm would be portrayed as the protector against the demon world’s invasion, while the retaliation of the holy kingdom that had suffered damage would also be directed toward the demon realm. Left unattended, distrust would continue to accumulate, but by sending Israfel in person for a revelation, the citizens of the holy kingdom, who fundamentally worshiped the Heavenly God, would tend to believe it.

“Then I entrust this to you, Israfel.”

“Yes, Lady Metatron.”

Nahun, who had sighed heavily, slowly opened his eyes. He had entered the 72nd floor castle to rest before sunset, and now, looking out the window, it was already dark with the blue moon gently illuminating the darkness.

Feeling a bit hollow, Nahun glanced beside him. There should have been Seere lying next to him, but there was no one there.

“…Where did she go?”

Rubbing his eyes, Nahun stood up, threw on his discarded coat, and stepped outside. Coming out into the hallway, Nahun began to walk. While he had no word of where Seere could be, he walked straight, guided by the faint trace of Seere’s magic.

Just as Seere was sensitive to Nahun’s magic, Nahun was likewise. Amidst the surrounding external magic scattered in the atmosphere, he distinctly sensed Seere’s magic and headed towards the backyard.

“Seere.”

And there she was, exactly where he expected. Sitting at a tea table set up in the grass, she noticed Nahun approaching and stood up.

“Teacher, did you sleep well?”

“Yeah.”

Seeing Seere smiling brightly, Nahun reached out. He gently patted her head and asked,

“What were you doing?”

“I just came out to get some fresh air and ended up sitting here blankly.”

That Seere was sitting there blankly made Nahun chuckle involuntarily. As a child, Seere often had that vacant look when staring at something, and it seemed that trait still lingered.

“Being away from busy tasks gives you some leisure, huh?”

“Yes, after resting all day, my energy is overflowing.”

“Is that so?”

Nahun sat down at the chair opposite Seere. Seere, who had been standing, also sat down, and the two briefly stared at the night sky.

“Teacher.”

“Hmm?”

“Are archangels… very strong?”

At Seere’s question, Nahun nodded honestly.

“They are strong.”

“How long would it take for me to become stronger than an archangel?”

“Well, I’m not sure about that timeframe. It would depend on how you go about it. But one thing I can certainly say is.”

“What is it?”

In response to Seere’s question, Nahun spoke with conviction.

“You will become stronger than any archangel. Just like Belzebut now.”

“…Sometimes I feel like you overestimate me greatly, Teacher.”

“Haha, I want to return that sentiment back to you.”

“You really can’t help but overestimate me!”

“Well, since it’s this teacher you hold in high regard, trust what I say.”

At Nahun’s words, Seere fell silent for a moment. Then, as if pondering something, she shyly asked him,

“How far have I caught up to you?”

“…Huh?”

“I’m curious.”

Nahun felt a bit flustered. Her goal had always been rank number one, so the obvious objective was to catch up to the Demon King, Belzebut von Deus.

However, the nuance in Seere’s current question seemed to indicate that she was targeting beyond that, towards Nahun himself.

“Do you want to catch up to me?”

“…Yes.”

Nahun experienced complex emotions. While he found her quite audacious, he also held her ambition in high regard. Initially, she may have chosen him as her goal simply because he was her teacher, but now, even after learning he was a great demon, she still aimed to surpass him, which he found fascinating.

“Don’t rush it too much. You’re only twenty… well, soon to be twenty-one. Regardless, you’re still too young to be anxious already.”

“……”

“In the years to come, ten years, twenty years… even a hundred years of training lies ahead. By then, you should have achieved everything you wish for. You might even surpass me, truly.”

“…During that time.”

Seere lightly placed her hand on the table.

“Will you stay by my side until I can stand with you, Teacher?”

“……”

Nahun momentarily closed his eyes. His original purpose was to set Seere as the ruler of the first floor, believing that perhaps it would allow him to return to reality upon reaching the ending.

However, he now realized that remaining in this place would be infinitely more enjoyable and happy than returning to reality. No, more accurately, it’s not about what he remained with that’s important.

Wherever he went, Seere von Debata had to be by his side.

Nahun spoke softly.

“Even if this decision causes me to miss the opportunity of a lifetime.”

And he gently overlapped his hand over the one resting on the table.

“I will be by your side.”

Seere’s hand twitched. Nahun thought it was a cute reaction and laughed, and noticing this, Seere slightly turned her head shyly.

The pale hair of Seere, imbued with the soft blue moonlight, sparkled like beautiful silk. The faint blush tinted her complexion contrasted with her hair, making her already beautiful face appear even lovelier.

Whether it was the effect of the striking contrast of light or Nahun simply being infatuated, at this moment, nothing seemed more beautiful than this girl.

“…Haha.”

“Teacher?”

“Really, your wish seems to have come true perfectly.”

“Really?”

As Seere appeared momentarily bewildered, Nahun stood up, holding her hand. Still firmly gripping her hand, Nahun approached where she had been sitting and said.

“It feels like I can’t live without you now.”

“…!”

Seere, who had been gazing at Nahun with wide eyes, soon broke into a wide smile. She intertwined her fingers with his hand that held hers tightly and stood up.

“Really?”

“Indeed.”

“How much of your heart am I occupying now, Teacher?”

Nahun lovingly wrapped his arms around Seere’s waist. Then, gently pulling her closer, he pressed a brief kiss against her pretty lips.

After the short kiss, Nahun raised his head, wearing a smile.

“All of it.”

“Hearing this from you, I had only imagined it.”

A smile spread across Seere’s lips. The brightness of her expression was so vivid it could even overshadow the darkness of the night.

“I’m so happy.”

“You should have said it sooner.”

“Please say such things often from now on. That would suffice.”

“Of course.”

Seere leaned slightly forward, pressing against Nahun. Burying her face in his chest, she spoke.

“While you are away in hell, make sure to help me forget all the loneliness I will feel.”

In response to Seere’s bold request, Nahun slowly lowered his head and pressed his lips against hers.
