Tournament of Kingdoms: The Battles Begin
The grand coliseum, bathed in golden light, pulsed with energy. The air was thick with anticipation as the remaining 100 players stood in formation, waiting for their matchups.
Thousands of spectators from various kingdoms filled the arena stands, their cheers echoing like a thunderstorm.
A floating crystal orb hovered above the battlefield, displaying the names of the next set of combatants.
[MATCH PAIRINGS ANNOUNCED!]
☑ Aleman vs. Kieran Stormcrest
☑ Lilo vs. Seraphiel Dawnblade
☑ Boris vs. Arkyn the Crimson Wolf
☑ Ezran vs. Velrick Ironheart
☑ Gregarious vs. Sylva the Silent Wind
Each name was followed by flashes of their battle statistics for the crowd to see. The moment Aleman's name appeared, the spectators roared in excitement.
"ALEMAN! ALEMAN! ALEMAN!"
He had become one of the most anticipated fighters after the elimination rounds.
Lilo whistled, nudging him. "Wow, someone's popular."
"Right? And yet I don't get a single sponsorship," August said, smirking under his hood.
Gregarious waved his arms dramatically. "Why am I always up against an assassin or a speedster?! Look at her name—Silent Wind. You just know she's fast!"
Ezran chuckled. "You'll be fine, Greg. Just try not to trip over your own feet this time."
The announcer's voice boomed across the arena.
"The first battle begins now! Step forward, Aleman and Kieran Stormcrest!"
---
BATTLE ONE: ALEMAN VS. KIERAN STORMCREST
August stepped onto the enormous battle platform, feeling the magic beneath his boots hum with energy.
Across from him, Kieran Stormcrest, a towering warrior with golden armor and a greatsword as long as his body, cracked his neck.
"I was hoping to fight you, Aleman," Kieran said, his voice calm but charged with confidence. "But I won't hold back."
"Good," Aleman replied, activating Perfect Veil. His form shimmered before vanishing.
"BEGIN!"
Kieran's sword flashed with lightning, and he swung in a wide arc, his attack ripping through the air.
Aleman dodged mid-step, using Phantom Blitz to reappear behind Kieran, his twin daggers glowing with arcane energy.
[SHADOW CRESCENT STRIKE!]
He slashed in a swift X-motion, sending a black crescent wave toward Kieran.
BOOM!
Kieran barely raised his sword in time to block the impact, skidding back.
"Fast," he muttered, before vanishing in a flash of golden lightning.
[STORM DASH!]
Aleman barely had time to react before a streak of light slammed into his ribs, sending him flying across the battlefield.
-4,300 HP!
"Damn…" August coughed, flipping midair to regain his footing.
Kieran charged again, swinging his electrified greatsword downward.
Aleman activated Phantom Blitz again, teleporting behind him.
"You're fast… but I have tricks too."
[TELEKINETIC GRASP!]
An invisible force grabbed Kieran's sword mid-swing, stopping it completely.
The warrior's eyes widened. "What—?!"
Aleman smirked. "Caught you."
He twisted his palm, sending Kieran's own greatsword flying out of his hands.
The moment Kieran staggered, Aleman closed in.
[THUNDER SPEAR!]
Lightning crackled in his palm before he hurled a blazing blue spear of energy straight into Kieran's chest.
CRACK!
"GAH!" Kieran was blasted off his feet, crashing into the barrier at the edge of the arena.
-6,800 HP!
Smoke rose from his armor, and the battle platform trembled under the force.
A few seconds passed before the announcer declared:
"Winner: Aleman!"
The crowd exploded into cheers.
---
BATTLE TWO: LILO VS. SERAPHIEL DAWNBLADE
Lilo stepped onto the battlefield, flipping her bow effortlessly in her hand.
Seraphiel, her opponent, was a holy knight with blazing white wings and a longsword that radiated golden light.
"I respect rangers," Seraphiel said, his voice smooth. "But let's see if you can keep up with the light."
Lilo smirked. "Let's see if you can dodge arrows faster than you blink."
The announcer dropped his hand.
"BEGIN!"
Seraphiel vanished in a streak of light.
Lilo fired a hailstorm of arrows, covering the battlefield in shadow-fused projectiles.
Seraphiel blocked, but one arrow curved midair, stabbing into his wing.
"AGH!" He crashed mid-flight.
Lilo didn't let up.
"Try dodging this."
She fired two arrows simultaneously, both glowing purple.
[VENOM STRIKE!]
The moment they hit Seraphiel's armor, green poison spread across his body.
"What—?!"
He tried to fly again, but his wings seized up.
Lilo casually walked forward, nocked another arrow, and smirked. "Checkmate."
The announcer lifted his hand. "Winner: Lilo!"
---
BATTLE THREE: BORIS VS. ARKYN THE CRIMSON WOLF
Boris and Arkyn charged at each other like two rampaging bulls.
The battlefield cracked beneath their weight as fire and earth magic collided.
"WHO'S STRONGER?!" Arkyn roared.
"ME!" Boris yelled back, slamming his molten fist into Arkyn's gut.
A shockwave rippled across the arena, sending debris flying.
The battle was brutal—no tricks, just pure, raw strength.
But in the end, Boris stood over Arkyn's unconscious body, grinning.
"Winner: Boris!"
---
BATTLE FOUR: EZRAN VS. VELRICK IRONHEART
Ezran's Runebound Staff glowed, summoning a whirlwind of blue flames.
Velrick Ironheart, a steel-clad mage, countered with walls of enchanted metal.
Their magic clashed violently, shaking the entire coliseum.
Ezran, with a well-timed mana burst, shattered Velrick's defenses and delivered the finishing blow.
"Winner: Ezran!"
---
BATTLE FIVE: GREGARIOUS VS. SYLVA THE SILENT WIND
Gregarious immediately tripped over his own feet before the match even started.
Sylva sighed in disappointment.
But the moment she lunged to end the fight, Gregarious slipped again—accidentally dodging every one of her attacks.
"What the hell—?!" Sylva gasped.
Ezran smacked his forehead. "This idiot is literally surviving on dumb luck."
In the most absurd turn of events, Gregarious accidentally activated his knockback ability, sending Sylva tumbling off the battlefield.
The announcer was silent for a moment before sighing:
"Winner… Gregarious."
The entire crowd went wild.
August and the others facepalmed.
---
Final 50 Players Remaining
With all five battles concluded, the final 50 players stood victorious.
The announcer raised his arms.
"Congratulations to all winners! The next challenge will test not only your strength… but your wits."
The crowd roared once more, and August clenched his fists.
The next phase was about to begin.
---ss
August exchanged a few words with the chief, noting the new players around who were still struggling to leave the village. Most had not yet met the requirements to progress to higher-level zones, and a few looked visibly frustrated.
One particular player caught his eye—a short, slightly round man with a mop of curly brown hair and glasses that looked out of place in a fantasy setting.
He was pacing near the towering Tree of Life, muttering to himself. His avatar name read *GregoriusMaximus*, and his constant failed attempts to get near the tree had gathered a small crowd of amused villagers and players.
"Ugh! Why does this game hate me?" Gregorius exclaimed dramatically, throwing his hands in the air. He tried once more to approach the tree, only to be pushed back by its invisible forcefield. He landed flat on his back with a loud thud, groaning. "I'm starting to think this is personal."
August smirked, watching the spectacle. He recalled just how many times August himself failed to get past until he came along.
"I'll catch you later chief... That's why I'm here," August pointed at the tree before heading off.
The Tree of Life was as majestic as ever. Its glowing bark emanated a golden light, and its beautiful leaves rustled softly despite the lack of wind.
August took a step forward, unaffected by the forcefield that had repelled Gregorius. Each step closer felt like an acknowledgment of his progress in the game, as the tree's protective aura seemed to part for him.
Reaching its bark, he crouched slightly and jumped.
His body shot upward, soaring over twenty feet into the air until he grabbed onto one of the lower branches.
The Tree of Life didn't resist him. Its golden fruits hung like jewels, glowing faintly, pulsing with life. August plucked one, examining it.
[ System Notification:You have acquired a Fruit of Life. This item restores 100% HP and MP instantly and grants +10 to all stats permanently, boosts internal resistance, and unlocks player perception to other locations. ]
With a look of satisfaction, August pocketed the fruit into his inventory.
He was about to jump down when he suddenly glanced around and thought, 'Why stop at one?' With a smirk, he grabbed another and then another, until he had collected five in total.
As he leaped gracefully back to the ground, GregoriusMaximus was already at his feet, clinging to his boots like his life depended on it. His avatar's comical crying animation played on a loop, complete with exaggerated sniffles.
"Please! Great, noble hero Aleman! Spare a lowly peasant a single Fruit of Life! I'm begging you! I've been trying to get that stupid tree to let me near it for days! My mates are already in Tagharium, and I'm stuck here because I can't progress! Please, I'll do anything!"
August raised an eyebrow, stifling a laugh. "Anything, huh?"
"Yes, anything! I'll… I'll carry your bags! I'll clean your shoes! I'll call you King Aleman for the rest of my life!"
The surrounding villagers and a few players snickered at Gregorius' antics. August's expression softened as he crouched slightly. "Alright, alright. No need to humiliate yourself further. Here."
