I chose Luck and was given Infinite Luck

Chapter 41: A Mind That Won’t Be Silenced

A Mind That Won't Be Silenced

1. The One Who Refuses to Forget (Tom's POV)

Tom gasped, his body frozen in place as the illusion pushed down on his mind like a crushing weight.

Forget.

The whisper curled through his thoughts, soft, soothing—but also wrong.

Forget your doubts.

His vision blurred, the world around him rearranging itself.

The Hunter's Guild. The dungeon raids. His flawless victories.

They were trying to rewrite him again.

Tom gritted his teeth. No.

His hands clenched. Not this time.

The pressure in his skull intensified, memories slipping through his fingers like grains of sand.

His past, his struggles, the life before this world—all fading.

A warm sensation curled around his thoughts, like a mother gently tucking her child into bed.

Sleep, Tom.

You're safe here.

For a terrifying moment, he wanted to listen.

To give in.

To let go.

Then—

A flicker of gold.

Deep in the recesses of his mind, the Roulette Wheel spun.

A spark of probability. A chance.

Tom latched onto it.

The illusion fought harder, trying to smother him in dreams of comfort—scenes flashing before his eyes.

He saw Stacy crowned champion of the Hunter Academy, her face glowing with joy.

He saw Diane smiling at him over dinner, a warmth in her eyes he had long forgotten.

He saw Mike, at peace, no longer weighed down by regret.

It was so tempting.

But it wasn't real.

And he would rather face the cruel truth than live a beautiful lie.

His lips parted, a single word slipping free—

"Spin."

And in that instant, the world shattered.

2. A Forced Awakening (Stacy's POV)

Stacy collapsed to her knees, her head pounding.

The Guardian's voice echoed through her skull.

Sleep. Forget. Accept.

She couldn't fight it.

Her mind felt heavy, drowning in waves of compliance.

Then—

A ripple in the air.

Something cracked.

The weight on her mind lifted just slightly.

She gasped, lifting her head.

Across the courtyard, Tom stood rigid, golden light crackling around him, his eyes blazing with defiance.

The illusion was breaking.

She felt it.

The once-flawless sky flickered, cracks forming in its perfect blue expanse, revealing an inky void underneath.

The Guardian's voice turned sharper, desperate.

"Don't do this, Tom," it hissed. "You'll ruin everything."

Stacy's fingers curled into fists.

She knew what ruining everything felt like.

She had lived it before.

And she wasn't going back.

---

3. The World Fractures (Diane's POV)

Diane clutched her head as the house trembled violently.

The whispers were screaming now, trying to pull her under.

The walls rippled, like a mirage trying to hold itself together.

The dining table vanished again, reappearing a second later.

The flowers on the counter wilted and regrew in the span of a breath.

Reality was unraveling at the seams.

And at the center of it all—

Tom.

His power wasn't just resisting.

It was undoing.

Diane's heart pounded.

If Tom could break it, so could she.

She focused, gripping the edge of the counter as she forced herself to remember.

The real world. The Council. The illusion's trap.

She clung to those thoughts like a drowning woman grasping a rope.

For a moment, the illusion fought back.

It tried to rewrite her thoughts, pulling her into a warm scene—

A flash of Jerry's face, standing in the doorway, smiling at her.

Her breath hitched.

But she knew better.

She exhaled.

"No more."

The kitchen exploded into white static.

---

4. A Name He Can't Ignore (Mike's POV)

Mike was fixing a broken lightbulb in the hallway when he heard it again.

The whisper.

"…Orion."

His fingers tightened around the screwdriver.

"No," he muttered. "Not real."

"…Orion."

Louder this time.

He turned sharply.

And someone was standing at the end of the hallway.

A shadowed figure.

Watching him.

Waiting.

Mike's breath caught.

The air felt too thick, too heavy.

He stepped forward—

And the figure became clearer.

A woman.

Her face was blurry, but her voice was clear as day.

"Mike," she whispered. "Stay."

His chest tightened.

She reached out, her hand hovering over his.

"Your family is happy," she murmured. "Your children are safe. Your wife still loves you."

His throat burned.

This wasn't real.

It couldn't be.

But her touch—

It felt so warm.

And Mike wasn't ready to let go.

Then—

Tom's voice cut through the storm.

"WAKE UP!"

And something inside Mike snapped.

The illusion had tried to rewrite him.

But he was Orion.

And he had always been a rebel against fate.

Mike lifted his head. "No more."

And the world exploded.

---

5. The Battle Begins (Final Scene – Group POV)

The illusion tore apart at the seams, light fracturing into shards of false reality.

The Guardian's form distorted, flickering between a calm, composed figure and something twisted and monstrous.

"You were supposed to be happy," it hissed, eyes glowing with fury.

Tom wiped the blood from his lip, standing firm. "Happiness isn't real if it's forced."

The Guardian snarled.

"Then you will regret this."

The air shattered, reality warping into something darker.

The illusion was done pretending.

Now, it would fight back.

And Tom, Stacy, Diane, and Mike would have to fight their way out.
