Chapter 10: Chapter 10- I'm a Marine Now!

The salty sea breeze swept through my hair as I leaned against the railing of the Marine ship, watching Nowhere Island shrink into the distance. Just a few days ago, I was fighting in an underground arena, and now here I was—wearing a Marine uniform.

A Seaman Recruit uniform, to be exact.

It wasn't exactly the look I had in mind when I imagined getting stronger, but hey, life takes weird turns.

Nathan had left shortly after the battle, giving me one last smirk before vanishing into the wind like the rogue bounty hunter he was. Meanwhile, Captain Kenny had personally extended the offer for me to join the 90th Marine Branch after seeing what I could do, he insisted I'd be a valuable asset, stationed at Camelot Kingdom, funny isn't it? A fictional kingdom from my world was now here in the one piece world!

I wasn't entirely sure why I said yes. Maybe it was because I wanted to keep my word with Jiro even though I lied at first, or maybe it was because… well, I had no idea what I was doing with my life. But for now, I had a uniform, a occupation, and a new place.

Camelot Kingdom was massive.

As the Marine ship docked, I took my first steps onto the main harbor and was immediately overwhelmed by the sheer size of the place. Towers stretched high into the sky, decorated with massive banners representing different noble houses. The streets were paved with polished stone, and the people—civilians, nobles, and knights—walked with a sense of purpose.

The kingdom was known for its legendary swordsmanship, and you could see it in the way the knights carried themselves. Even the street vendors were casually flipping knives between their fingers like it was second nature.

I whistled. "Not exactly a backwater island, huh?"

"That's Camelot Kingdom for you," a voice beside me said.

I turned to see another Marine, around my age (19) with messy blond hair and a relaxed grin. He had the same Seaman Recruit uniform as me, though his looked like it had already been through some serious wear and tear.

"Jack, Seaman Recruit," he introduced himself, offering a hand. "You must be the new guy Kenny picked up."

I shook his hand. "Lucius. Guess I'm your new coworker."

Jack chuckled. "Coworker? That's a fancy way to put it. We're glorified errand boys, my friend."

"That bad, huh?" I raised an eyebrow.

Jack threw an arm around my shoulder like we'd known each other for years. "Oh, it's worse than bad. The 90th Branch is… unique. You'll see."

Jack and I wandered through the bustling marketplace as he filled me in on the details of the kingdom. Apparently, Camelot Kingdom was once a chaotic battleground, with different noble families constantly vying for power but things only settled down when the legendary king Arthur entered the battlefield and winning the war by himself as he unified the kingdom. Right now, this kingdom is ruled by King Arthur III, Three generations of the throne being passed down. Well marines being in this kingdom is due to the kingdom being affiliated with the world government, so it's somewhat a big shot kingdom, not to be underestimated.

"And before Captain Kenny, the one running the 90th Branch was Captain Kujaku," Jack continued.

"Kujaku?" I frowned, trying to recall the name, if I saw it somewhere in the series but nah all I remember is till post-wano arc.

Jack snickered. "She's the granddaughter of Vice-admiral Tsuru, got promoted to the Grand Line. But back when she was stationed here, things were… a little different."

My eyes widened! WAIT! Tsuru has a granddaughter!? Crazy, color me surprise huh? Anyway I responded back to him curious how the granddaughter handled things here?

"How different?"

"Well, let's just say she had a unique way of handling things."

Flashback: The Kujaku Era

A group of rough-looking pirates stood in the town square, sneering at a group of Marines. The leader of the group, a burly guy with an eye patch, scoffed. "What are you Marines gonna do, huh? Arrest us?"

From the rooftop above, a woman with long strawberry blonde hair, green eyes, and prominent lips. Wearing a strapless pink dress with red blotch-like patterns on it, a Marine coat draped over her shoulders and a pink cloche hat decorated with a seagull-flower accessory on the left side and an "M" on the front, looked down at them, grinning.

"Arrest you? Oh no, that's boring."

Kujaku leaped down, landing gracefully in front of the pirates. She spun her whip in her hands and smirked. "You see, I prefer reforming pirates."

The pirates exchanged glances.

"Reforming?"

Kujaku used her whip swishing at them as it hit all of the pirates when suddenly, all of the pirates were neatly dressed in butler outfits. Their weapons were gone, and in their hands were trays of tea and desserts.

"Alright, gentlemen! From now on, you're all employees of Garden Café! Now smile for the customers!"

The pirates, now looking incredibly confused and horrified, tried to resist—but every time they even thought about rebelling, Kujaku cracked her whip again, and suddenly they were refilling cups and taking orders with perfect etiquette.

The Marines, meanwhile, stood off to the side, nervously watching the whole thing unfold.

Back in the present, I stared at Jack in disbelief. "You're lying." What kind of devil fruit does she have? One whip and everyone's under her command!?

Jack raised a hand. "I swear on my ration privileges, every word is true."

"That sounds insane."

"Oh, it was." Jack grinned. "But you know what? Crime rate dropped to nearly zero while she was here. Pirates were terrified of getting turned into waiters."

I ran a hand through my hair, still trying to process the absolute madness of what I had just heard. "And now Kenny's in charge?"

"Yup. And he's the complete opposite. No theatrics, no weird punishments—just straightforward Marine justice."

I sighed. "Well, at least I don't have to worry about getting brainwashed into running a café."

Jack patted my shoulder. "Don't speak too soon, my friend. You never know what's waiting around the corner in the 90th Branch."

I had a feeling he was right.
