Chapter 495 Plateau Theme Exhibition Area

The children seemed to have a great time farming.

A few months after this rice planting, they should be able to see the rice harvest.

In recent days, Fang Ye has been thinking about the design for the new Pallas's cat exhibit!

This trip to Qinghai allowed him to see the alpine meadow environment where Pallas's cats live and the various animals that coexist with them, which was quite helpful for the exhibit design.

The first consideration was the location!

Should it be placed in the Predator Gallery, alongside other felines like lions and tigers?

But now that we have the Plateau Environment Simulator, it feels possible to set up a themed highland exhibit area and keep animals like snow leopards, Pallas's cats, cinereous vultures, bharal, and marmots.

Marmots, cinereous vultures, and bharal are fairly common in zoos.

Actually, the bharal in the zoo's mixed exhibit area is a bit out of place, as it was included with the forest elves, but the construction of a zoo is a process of continuous improvement.

We don't have that many green leaf coins to design the exhibit area perfectly in one go.

So, after some consideration, Fang Ye decided to place the Pallas's cat exhibit behind the area that used to be the zoo's dormitory and cafeteria, behind the large animal exhibit area.

An outdoor activity area of three hundred square meters should be sufficient for the Pallas's cat exhibit, which is about the same size as the red panda exhibit.

After all, Pallas's cats are small, and if the exhibit area is too large, with hiding and disguises added in, visitors may strain their eyes and still not see them.

In Xining Zoo, a space of a few dozen square meters can accommodate several cats.

The walkway outside the exhibit can be paved with white, gray, and yellow spotted stone bricks, making the ground look like a highland meadow with a thin layer of fallen snow.

Structures like restrooms can also be made to resemble small gray stone hills, creating an ambiance of their habitat.

Pallas's cats usually nestle in rock crevices or marmot burrows.

We can create a gravel beach inside the exhibit!

Use several large grayish yellow rocks as the foundation, arranged in a checkerboard pattern, with gaps wide enough for Pallas's cats in between, and some small stones on the side.

Insert some wild grass between the gaps of the rocks.

Pallas's cats can use the rocks for cover and peek their heads out from behind to spy on visitors.

Their body color is similar to the rocks, so they might be observing visitors in broad daylight, but the visitors may look for a long time and not find them.

Of course, the rocks won't stick out too much; if the Pallas's cats press their bodies down, they can hide in the crevices, invisible when standing.

The wall behind the exhibit area will also imitate the grey-green stone walls of the plateau environment, rugged and uneven, allowing Pallas's cats to jump on it.

They can usually use these rocks to jump up and down.

Let's have an area of fine sand!

Rolling in the sand should also be a fun activity for them.

The overall design is quite simple and would cost 30,000 green leaf coins.

The marmot exhibit area is even simpler; just an uneven piece of land with a few rocks placed on it to allow them to dig and burrow underground.

The cinereous vulture exhibit should be around 300 square meters, but the height of the exhibit can be twelve meters with a domed top.

This will allow the cinereous vultures to fly short distances inside.

In fact, most birds of prey are not suitable for zoo exhibits and displays because they require a lot of flying space, a space so vast it seems limitless, and because breeding them in captivity is difficult.

A large open space like the tropical rainforest aviary, where birds can have some flying space, is unachievable because most birds of prey can't be mixed, as they will fight and cause vast injury and loss.

It's not feasible to have a bird exhibit worth hundreds of millions and keep only a few raptors; the investment would be too great.

In the wild, cinereous vultures often circle over barren hills and ridges, resting perched on branches or rocks jutting from cliffs, scanning the distance.

So inside the exhibit, a few perches of varying heights are needed to provide it with places to rest and roost. The ground should also be made to resemble high mountain meadows and stony beaches, set up with a few large rocks and a small puddle for clean drinking water.

The development of the Waterfowl Area of the zoo can also begin, starting with a flamingo lake of over a thousand square meters, next to Waterfowl Lake.

Flamingos mainly inhabit shallow waters and don't require deep water, so the terrain doesn't need to change much, and the construction investment can be a little less.

And they are indeed very ornamental birds!

Between the visitors and the lake water, a barrier is made with green plants like lotus and lily leaves, and a few big trees are set up on the other side of the shore to provide shade for the flamingos.

...

The quarantine of the elephants is almost over, and they are ready to be displayed, with an announcement made on the public account.

Liu Wei is currently in an Ideological Studies on Marxism Principles class!

The front of the classroom only has a sprinkling of people, and the good spots in the back were taken early on.

He had rushed over quickly right after the calculus class ended, which is how he managed to snag a spot in the second-to-last row.

For classes like calculus, many students compete for seats in the front, but for classes like Ideological Studies on Marxism Principles, most would sit in the back, heads down, playing on their phones.

Although he didn't want to come and would rather go back to the dorm to play games earlier, there was a chance they might take attendance after class.

Attendance is related to the regular score, and if he were to fail by just a few points, what then?

So they still didn't dare to skip class.

The Ideological Studies teacher was used to this situation, seeing them bow their heads in the audience, knowing they were playing with their phones, turning a blind eye as long as it wasn't too excessive.

As class was nearly over, Zhu Yu whispered, "Hey, shall we play a few rounds of League when we get back?"

Wu Jiancong said, "I only play ARAM mode!"

Gao Kaijin hesitated, "What about the homework for calculus and advanced math? It's due the day after tomorrow!"

Zhu Yu said with ease, "No problem, we can copy from the class representative when the time comes!"

Liu Wei said gloomily, "We should do our homework first! I almost failed last semester."

College life isn't quite what I imagined it to be in high school!

In high school, teachers and parents said that although it was tough then, college would be easier, and teachers wouldn't supervise us.

So I looked forward to college life with great anticipation!

Thinking about college, with its easy classes, lack of teacher supervision, free time to play games at ease, and a sweet romance.

It was this belief that sustained me through the difficult times in high school.

But once in college, who said it was easier? The risk of failing calculus and advanced mathematics is extremely high, and there's homework to do.

You can't skip classes either, as teachers still take attendance. Read exclusive adventures at My Virtual Library Empire

Thinking about having a romance, there were only a few girls in the class, and since I didn't date in high school, I certainly didn't know how to in college.

Anyway, just following the routine, going back and forth between the dorm, classroom, and canteen every day.

The school is in the suburbs; besides a zoo, there's not much else to go around.

Finishing homework and playing League together was the most leisurely time.

This was indeed a bit better than high school.

Thinking of the zoo, Liu Wei opened the Linhai Zoo's official account to have a look and suddenly found out that the elephants would be on display this weekend!

He immediately got excited, "Hey, let's not play games this weekend; let's go see the elephants!"
