I Hijacked the Timeline (IHT)

Chapter 64: Chapter 64: The Hunting Device

After several hours of circling to the north, Feng Qi finally left the urban ruins and returned to the underground shelter beneath Star City.

At this moment, Fang Tian Halberd was dozing off, clinging to his chest.

Walking toward the still-active screen, Feng Qi stepped up to the console and began scouring the database for information about Mu Qing's death.

If he could find any photographic evidence of Mu Qing's corpse or irrefutable proof of her death in the records, he could confidently conclude that Fang Tian Halberd was not Mu Qing.

Conversely, if the records revealed otherwise, the likelihood of Fang Tian Halberd being Mu Qing would increase substantially.

As he combed through the files, he noticed that while there were no records of Mu Qing's execution, there was plenty of evidence supporting her death.

History recorded no disputes over the claim that Mu Qing had passed.

Eventually, he found a photograph of her remains.

In the image, Mu Qing lay with her eyes closed, dressed in a black outfit marred with bloodstains, her body encased within a three-meter-tall block of ice.

Feng Qi felt a pang of heartache at the sight.

However, the photo could easily be fabricated. To verify its authenticity, he began investigating the location where her body was supposedly kept after her death.

After a brief search, he came across a document describing the disposition of her remains.

Excerpt from the record: After her death, Mu Qing's body was permanently sealed in ice by Star City's military and buried in an underground air raid shelter, never to see the light of day.

Realizing that Mu Qing's body was supposedly stored within Star City, Feng Qi glanced down at Fang Tian Halberd. The possibility that she might be Mu Qing had just increased significantly.

Still, this evidence alone was insufficient to prove Fang Tian Halberd's identity.

Determined to uncover the truth, he began searching for the exact location of the underground air raid shelter.

What he discovered next caught him off guard.

According to the records, the air raid shelter in Star City had long since been dismantled. It had undergone a series of renovations and expansions, eventually becoming the current underground Star City Shelter.

In other words, the air raid shelter where Mu Qing's body was once stored was now part of the very place he stood.

Looking around, he noticed the central plaza was filled with an assortment of mechanical equipment. Surrounding the plaza were rows of tightly sealed iron doors, each standing firm and unyielding.

He had never ventured into the rooms behind those doors.

It wasn't due to a lack of curiosity about their contents. Rather, every time he entered the future dream realm, time was of the essence. With Little Black relentlessly on his tail, he couldn't afford to waste even a moment exploring the shelter.

But now, to confirm whether Fang Tian Halberd was Mu Qing, he resolved to investigate what lay beyond those doors.

With time pressing, he strode to the nearest iron door.

Noticing the handle was secured with a keypad lock, Feng Qi wasted no time. He raised his leg and kicked it with all his might.

Fortunately, the door was made of a different material than the heavily fortified metal gate at the entrance. After several forceful kicks, the door creaked and collapsed inward with a thunderous crash.

As a cloud of dust enveloped him, Feng Qi caught a strong musty odor.

But for someone like him, who could tolerate his own rotting stench, a little mildew was inconsequential.

Fumbling inside, he found the light switch and pressed it.

The room lit up with a flickering glow.

The room was approximately a hundred square meters in size, filled with stacks of white, black, and blue boxes, piled several hundred high.

Feng Qi, intrigued, decided to open one of the white boxes.

Inside, he found dozens of smaller white cartons. Curious, he opened one of the cartons and discovered three blister packs, each containing about ten small white pills.

Without an instruction manual, it was impossible to determine what these pills were.

He took one out and sniffed it cautiously before giving it a tentative lick.

It was tasteless and odorless—not the kind of energy pill made from special spiritual herbs.

Feng Qi: …

Looking down at the small white pill in his hand, he felt a twinge of awkwardness.

The presence of such items in the Star City Shelter was not surprising.

The Star City Shelter was established due to the rapid expansion of domain fields. Humanity could no longer survive on the surface and had no choice but to retreat underground.

In such circumstances, resources became crucial.

Particularly for food, even if the Star City Shelter could create a complete self-sustaining supply chain, the production capacity was still limited.

To ensure a stable resource cycle, the population had to be kept within manageable limits. Unrestricted reproduction would disrupt the supply chain, leading to catastrophic consequences.

To maintain a sustainable system, controlling the population was the best solution, keeping the number of inhabitants within a set range.

Given that preferences and requirements varied among individuals, it made sense that the room offered various options.

Just as Feng Qi was about to leave, he noticed Fang Tian Halberd chewing on one of the blister packs he had just set down.

"You can't eat that!" He rushed forward, trying to take the blister pack out of Fang Tian Halberd's mouth.

But she refused to let go, her head swaying left and right as she resisted his attempts.

In the end, to Feng Qi's helpless dismay, she swallowed the pills, packaging and all, with audible chewing.

[Probability of Fang Tian Halberd being Mu Qing +8%. This gluttonous behavior is exactly like hers—eating anything and everything.]

"I agree," Feng Qi muttered, nodding in reluctant acknowledgment.

Carrying Fang Tian Halberd out of the room that stored the pills, Feng Qi headed to the next door. Once again, he resorted to forceful kicking.

With repeated, heavy kicks, the metal door finally fell inward.

Braving the rising cloud of dust, he stepped inside.

He found the light switch and flipped it on, revealing the room's contents.

This room was much larger, at least five to six hundred square meters. It was filled with rows of meticulously arranged mechanical instruments.

The space seemed to be dedicated to scientific research. The walls were plastered with mathematical formulas, diagrams, and photographs.

As Feng Qi scanned the room, one particular photograph caught his attention.

Because the figure in the photo was someone he recognized all too well—it was none other than Little Black.
