I paid off the debt for the most beautiful sisters in the school, and then they barged into my house where I live alone. “Please go back home; you don’t need to repay the favor.” “No way.” “We don’t want to~☆”

Chapter 12 - Interlude - Sister Conference - Part 1

A fairly spacious Japanese-style room.

Two sets of futons were laid out, and inside them lay two young girls.

A boy had been there until a moment ago, bringing them porridge, but now the room was occupied by the girls alone.

“Big sister, what’s your temperature?”

“It’s 38.8 degrees Celsius.”

“It’s the same as mine. Just like sisters.”

“This is not the time to be saying such things. It’s quite shameful.”

With a red face, she mumbled.

The fact that they were in a weak position as lodgers to begin with, and now that they were physically weakened, seemed to be quite taxing on them mentally.

“It can’t be helped. A lot has happened to us lately.”

“That’s true.”

Indeed, the many situations that had befallen the sisters recently were undoubtedly a heavy burden for them, given their young age.

The change in their living environment was significant, and their physical malaise was inevitable. However, Karen was not one to easily accept such excuses.

“It’s certainly an inexcusable situation for Seiichiro-kun.”

She had already indebted him, and now she had even let him take care of her when she was sick.

In Karen’s mind, the words “putting the cart before the horse” kept appearing and disappearing.

However, her younger sister, Erika, seemed to feel no shame at all.

“Really? At first, he seemed reluctant to live with us. But now, I think he’s not feeling too bad about it. So when he says not to worry, I think he really means it.”

To Erika, the softening attitude of the landlord was clearly apparent.

When it came to seeing through others, the younger sister was far superior to her elder sibling.

“Is that so?”

“I think so. But still, I must say, before meeting him, I was really curious about what kind of person he was, in a rather bad way. But after meeting him, my impression was quite different.”

“What kind of impression did you have?”

“Normal. Neither good nor bad, just ordinary. It was kind of anticlimactic. I even thought he might be a dangerous guy targeting big sister.”

The man who had suddenly appeared and saved her sister’s dire situation, and the entire Shinto family’s plight, and also her sister’s classmate. Living with such a person.

At first, Erika had come to the Kagami house with rather complex emotions.

No matter how you look at it, he’s not normal.

Taking over a classmate’s debt all of a sudden is unthinkable, something even Erika could understand.

“But once we started living together, I understood right away. In other words, he’s just a bottomless good-hearted person! In some ways, he’s a good match for big sister, isn’t he?”

“I’m not exactly a good-hearted person… but Seiichiro-kun is, that’s for sure.”

Karen thought of herself as rather realistic, but to Erika, her sister seemed just as good-hearted as the landlord boy.

However, the boy seemed less straightforward than her sister, or rather, there were times when he acted maliciously.

To Erika, it even felt like he was desperately trying to hide his true nature from those around him.

“Hehe. What a silly big brother. Just a little bit of kindness, and he easily lets his guard down. He’s not hiding it at all.”

Erika giggled uncontrollably, holding her stomach, tears in her eyes.

“Yes, it seems so.”

Karen placed the memo back on the desk, unconsciously placing her hand gently on Seiichiro’s head.

“He might be quite foolish, you know.”

Erika looked at her sister with a surprised expression, as this was an unexpected move.

“Really, Seiichiro-kun might catch a cold too.”

She petted his head once, and Seiichiro stirred.

Karen quickly pulled away.

“…Hmm… Huh? Oh?”

“Good morning.”

Seiichiro woke up, rubbing his eyes lightly, yawning once, then addressing the sisters.

“You’re awake. How’s the fever?”

“Thanks to the medicine, I feel better. I’ll measure it again later, but I think it’s gone down quite a bit.”

“My throat doesn’t hurt either, thanks to the candy.”

“I see. That’s good. There are chilled bottled drinks, jelly, and fruit in the refrigerator. Take them whenever you like.”

Jelly and fruit were things that hadn’t been in the refrigerator before. It seems he had gone out to buy them again.

Seiichiro said that much, then slowly left the living room.

He seemed relieved to see that the sisters were recovering.

“Hey, Erika.”

“Hmm?”

“I’m really going to give it my all.”

The younger sister clearly sensed what her elder sister’s profile was saying.

(Big sister’s switch has been flipped…)

Erika knew better than anyone how action-oriented her sister was once she made a “resolution.”

After all, they were here, living in this house to repay a favor.

Now she was saying she was “going to give it her all,” meaning she had decided to intervene in Seiichiro’s private life.

(This is going to be tough for big brother from now on. But it’ll surely make life more enjoyable.)

Erika chuckled to herself, making sure her sister couldn’t see.

Afterward, the two ate jelly at the desk, wrote a thank-you note to Seiichiro, and left the living room.
