I put a leash on Catastrophe

Chapter 3

Zhi-wu, who was receiving help, experienced the same feelings.

Although Zhi-wu had survived for a long time even after the great catastrophe, it was the first time he had seen a person jump out of a sword. And he didn’t understand why he was helping him.

‘Is this good?’

He was confused, not knowing the answer to his question. This person easily deflected the intruders’ attacks, but would he be able to defend himself if the knight later turned against him? Zhi-wu was lost in thought.

“Die!”

Ta-ta-ta-ta!

The commander, with an enraged expression, started firing in bursts. Apparently, he decided that it would be difficult for the black knight to deflect this with a sword, so this time he didn’t use the sword.

He simply raised his hand, covering Zhi-wu whom he held in his arms, and moved forward. The bullets fired in this way didn’t leave even the slightest trace on the man’s armor.

“Damn psycho…”

The intruders with pale faces stopped shooting. It seemed they had completely lost the will to resist in the face of the black knight’s overwhelming power.

Among them, only the commander continued to attack. Apparently, the ammunition in his rifle had run out, so he took out a pistol from his bosom.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

When the commander started shooting from the loaded pistol, the black knight easily dodged this time. His movements were so imperceptible that from the side it might have seemed as if the bullets were simply passing through him.

Unlike Zhi-wu, who was admiring the black knight’s actions, the commander seemed to be extremely irritated, his face reddening, almost blackening with anger.

It would have been better if he had just surrendered like his subordinates, but the commander didn’t do that. Rather, apparently deciding that he had no chance against the black knight, he changed the direction of the pistol, aiming at Zhi-wu whom he was protecting.

Zhi-wu naturally thought that this time too he would ignore it and continue moving forward, but the black knight’s actions were different from expected. He stopped.

The commander, seeing the black knight stop, grinned, thinking that his intention had worked. Believing that the black knight and Zhi-wu were comrades, he decided that the black knight cherished Zhi-wu very much.

‘That’s why he holds him so carefully in his arms and protects him.’

Although the black knight’s armor was strong, it wasn’t absolutely impenetrable. Confident in his shooting skills, he aimed precisely at Zhi-wu, visible between the gaps in the armor.

Although it was a great pity that he couldn’t aim at a vital organ to kill with one shot, he grinned maliciously, thinking that the black knight would feel awful if his dear comrade was wounded. When he was about to pull the trigger…

The black knight raised his sword again.

Bang!

“Huh?”

Everyone made stupid sounds. Even the commander who had fired widened his eyes and gaped.

They thought the black knight would deflect the bullet again, but…

“The bullet…”

The bullet was cut in half by the swing of the sword and scattered to the sides. This was amazing, but Zhi-wu was even more shocked.

‘The blade…’

On the sword that had previously been as blunt as a club, there was now a bluish shining blade. It looked so sharp that it seemed it could cut just by looking at it.

“Damn…”

Now even the commander seemed to have lost his fighting spirit and stood in confusion with the pistol in his hand, but the black knight swung his sword again.

“Aaaah!”

The sword swing cut off not only the commander’s pistol but also the hand holding it.

Blood gushed from the clean-cut cross-section, including the bone, and the commander, screaming in pain, fell and trembled.

The intruders seemed to come to their senses seeing their commander’s injury, but no one dared to attack. After all, the next one rolling on the ground with a severed arm could be any of them.

They silently exchanged glances and finally made a decision. Then they started to run away, carrying the pharaoh they had taken from Zhi-wu.

“Him! We can’t let them take him away!”

Zhi-wu, looking in panic at the fleeing intruders, desperately looked up at the black knight and said.

He meant for him to let go so he could chase them, but instead, the black knight pressed Zhi-wu even tighter to himself and rushed forward.

Before Zhi-wu could be surprised, the black knight caught up with them, and the intruders screamed.

“D-don’t come closer!”

“Aaah!”

The screams full of fear soon changed to screams of pain. When the black knight swung his sword at the fleeing intruders, the leg of the nearest one was cut off.

“Aaarrgh!”

“Damn monster!”

“Die!”

Their fear intensified even more due to their comrade’s injury. Cornered, they started shooting randomly, but most of the bullets fired in panic only hit the museum exhibits.

Exhibits of national significance were destroyed, but no one regretted this or paid attention.

In a situation where it was about who would capture whom, traces of history were just past tense.

Of course, it was unclear whether the object of capture would be life or the pharaoh.

When Zhi-wu, in the black knight’s embrace, watched as he struck down several more intruders…

Boom!

A weak vibration, like a heartbeat, spread. The source of the vibration was none other than the pharaoh.

Usually, such a vibration could be ignored as insignificant, but this time it was impossible. The vibration continued to sound, and a sinister aura emanated from the pharaoh.

At the same time, an incomprehensible sound echoed in the museum.

Grooooo.

Perhaps this is how a voice from deep, very deep hell would sound. As soon as everyone heard this sound, like a sobbing howl, they collapsed to their knees as if losing strength in their legs.

“Uuuu…”

The sound was full of malice. The intruders lay face down on the ground, emitting only groans. Some even wet themselves.

It was easier for the black knight, but even he seemed unable to resist this sound and half-bent his knees.

Only Zhi-wu didn’t fall to the ground. This was thanks to being in the black knight’s embrace.

“Uuu…”

Did the black knight protect even from the sound? Zhi-wu, chattering his teeth and trembling, could still look around.

‘Could it be… could it be…?’

Zhi-wu’s face turned even paler from the sudden assumption that arose in his head. And as if confirming that this was the correct guess, the pharaoh’s condition became alarming.

Jingle, jingle-jingle.

The precious stones attached to the chains wrapping the pharaoh’s body began to tremble, then rang as they collided with each other. This was by no means a pleasant sight.

“No!”

Zhi-wu, thinking that if he didn’t destroy him now, it would be too late, tried to break free as if in a fit, but couldn’t.

This was because the black knight was firmly holding his body.

“Let go!”

Zhi-wu kicked, but the black knight remained unshakable. When Zhi-wu punched his armor, this hand was also easily caught by the black knight.

Rather than blocking Zhi-wu’s attack, he seemed to be trying to prevent his injury from hitting the armor, as he held the hand very gently.

As if that wasn’t enough, he completely pressed Zhi-wu against himself, turning his back to the pharaoh as if trying to hide him. This resembled a mother protecting her cub.

“If not now, then…”

Although it was hard for him, the only thing Zhi-wu could do was groan in frustration.

And, as Zhi-wu had predicted, it happened.

With the ringing of chains, the pharaoh’s body rose into the air.

The trembling chains blackened and crumbled as if corroded, and now only cream-colored silk enveloped the pharaoh’s body.

Crack! Crack! Crack! Crack!

Like a caterpillar turning into a butterfly inside a cocoon, sounds of tearing came from under the silk.

At first, only sounds. And then soon the silk began to bulge as if something was trying to get out from inside. This looked like a struggle to exit an egg, but the emotions experienced by the observers were far from admiration for the wonderful birth of life.

“U… uuu…”

“Scary…”

The intruders groaned from the growing malice that intensified with each movement of the silk.

This malice was too heavy for humanity accustomed to peace. Perhaps this was natural, for even hunters accustomed to death after the world’s destruction couldn’t help but submit to this malice.

‘Where did it all go wrong?’

The pharaoh, who was supposed to wake up only in the distant future, awakened now.

People who tried to steal the pharaoh, who was supposed to remain in this museum until that time.

Much had changed compared to the future he knew. After all, even Zhi-wu himself wasn’t supposed to be in America at this time originally.

The butterfly effect. Why did this expression come to mind?

‘I wish I hadn’t come.’

If he hadn’t returned in time. Or if there had been a strong hunter here instead of him, wouldn’t everything have been different?

Zhi-wu felt like he wanted to cry blood. He didn’t know where to put himself from the feeling of guilt, sensing that he had ruined everything.

While Zhi-wu was berating himself, a hand resembling a dried tree branch peeked out from the center of the undulating silk.

Breaking through the fabric, it slid back inside, then appeared again along with another hand and tore the silk apart in both directions.

Crack! Crack!

Through the torn and completely disintegrated silk, a skeleton-like corpse appeared. The only difference from other corpses was that this one moved.

When the gap became wide enough for the body to exit, the pharaoh stretched his leg outside. Death descended into the world of the living.

When he fully extracted his body, the silk scraps floating in the air easily fell to the floor.

The moment both feet fully touched the floor, the body that looked like an old tree began to grow flesh. On the swollen, seemingly inflated muscles and body, there were no longer any traces of a corpse visible.

There stood the pharaoh, transformed into a handsome man with dark skin, sun-scorched, and long hair shining like sand under the sun’s rays.

A strong body and smooth skin, a beautiful face making one doubt his gender. Although he was naked, it didn’t evoke any sexual feelings.

Despite looking like a slender model, the only feeling experienced by everyone who saw him was fear, as if they had stuck their heads into the mouth of an enraged crocodile, so people instinctively tried to crawl away from him.

The pharaoh, looking down at these miserable beings with an arrogant gaze, slightly spread his arms.

And then the pharaoh’s burial items, exhibited along with him, flew towards him and enveloped his body.

A wide necklace descending to the chest lay on his shoulders, and a fabric wrapped around the lower part of his body, hiding his nakedness.

A luxurious belt encircled his waist and hung loosely between his thighs, and at this moment these items, worn and decayed over centuries, shone as if new, full of life.
