I, the creator of the evil god!

Chapter 14 - Egg of the Void Shadow Spider! A Visit from the Special Department

Chapter Fourteen: Egg of the Void Shadow Spider! A Visit from the Special Department

Egg of the Void Shadow Spider: Born from the mutated egg of the Twisted Spider, tainted by the blood of an unknown evil god, it has established a faint connection with the void, transforming into a void creature.

Within it lies the power of time and shadow. Shadows and the essence of time are its preferred nourishment. Upon birth, it will possess Morning Star-level strength and maintain a connection to the River of Time. Though not adept at combat, its potential is immense.

Abilities:

Void Venom Sac:Injects void toxins that cause the collapse of living bodies.
Time Inscription:A passive ability linking it faintly to the River of Time, washing away its traces and rendering it immune to most divination, fortune-telling, rituals, and powerful entities’ detection.
Shadow Servants:Absorbs shadows to produce up to ten spider-shaped shadow minions. These natural-born assassins can merge into shadows and are loyal to the core.
Void Chest:As a creature inherently tethered to the void, it can create personal spatial storage for non-living entities, with its strength determining the size of the space.

Rating: Four-Star Excellent!

Hatching Countdown: One Month.

“This is absurdly powerful! Straight out of its shell, it’s stronger than the Fear Balloon. Although it requires time to grow, it’s on another level entirely! Being born at a point that’s the pinnacle for most is simply unfair! But I suppose most of its abilities are non-combat-related, which explains why it isn’t optimised for fighting. Still, Morning Star is Morning Star!”

Lu Yu marvelled at the opulent attributes of the Void Shadow Spider’s egg. It was undoubtedly the strongest monster in his arsenal, though he would have to wait a month for it to hatch.

During that time, he planned to keep a low profile while investigating the levels and power structures of the Awakened world, as well as exploring its cultivation systems.

Just as Lu Yu’s thoughts wandered, the system’s voice echoed:

Ding!

“Host has edited an excellent-grade monster, achieving the milestone—Elite Editor. Rewarding one-tenth of the Void Shadow Spider’s strength and allowing the selection of two skills for solidification.”

A surge of energy, far more potent than the Fear Balloon’s, poured into Lu Yu’s body, making him feel uncomfortably full.

Fortunately, the power quickly began fortifying his physical constitution, enhancing his soul in tandem.

It felt like cultivating barren fields; his meridians and organs were expanded and strengthened.

For a full ten minutes, the strengthening continued. When it finally subsided, his energy reserves had tripled!

If he were once a small bottle, he was now a sizeable jug.

And this was the strength of a non-combat-specialised, unhatched monster. A higher-grade creature might have overwhelmed him entirely with a fraction of its power.

Picturing such a scenario, a cold sweat broke out on Lu Yu’s forehead. Dying from over-absorption would be a laughable end!

Resolving to avoid such risks, Lu Yu decided he must forge his body into an unyielding fortress—layer upon layer of resilience until no enemy could harm him.

This, however, was easier said than done.

Shaking off the thought, Lu Yu addressed the system:

“I choose Time Inscription and Shadow Servants.”

He lacked for offensive capabilities, but dealing with strange techniques was his weakness.

The Time Inscription, with its ability to mask his presence from divination and prying eyes, was perfect for someone who had just looted the Spider Evil God’s essence.

It would also make future covert operations worry-free, enabling many possibilities.

As for the Shadow Servants, they were a solution to his solitude, providing reconnaissance and combat support.

Besides, commanding a retinue of shadowy minions had its flair.

Strength might be fleeting, but style was eternal.

Two beams of light entered his body, forming a rune-like arc on his right hand—a design reminiscent of an ouroboros, the Time Inscription itself.

From that day, Lu Yu no longer needed to fear divination or fate-based abilities.

The Shadow Servants skill, however, required absorbing shadows from living beings to create minions, which would have to wait until tomorrow for testing.

As Lu Yu completed his skill integration, a translucent interface, visible only to him, appeared:

Host: Lu Yu

Followers: Fear Balloon, Void Shadow Spider (Unhatched)

Skills: Hellfire Whip, Leeching Aura, Time Inscription, Shadow Servants

Rank: One-Star Monster Editor

Material Library: Twisted Venom Sac ×3, Spider Evil God’s Webbing ×1

“A personal status screen—getting more considerate by the day.”

Lu Yu praised the system, though it remained silent.

After solidifying his skills, the grey mist dissipated, returning Lu Yu to his room.

The familiar layout and scents greeted him, accompanied by the Fear Balloon, floating chaotically near the ceiling.

“Eee-yah-yah!”

Noticing Lu Yu’s return, the Fear Balloon descended, its yellow, spherical form quivering with excitement.

“Sometimes I think you’re part husky,” Lu Yu quipped, patting its head before retrieving the Void Shadow Spider’s egg. An invisible aura radiated from the golden egg.

“Eee-yah!”

Sensing the aura, the Fear Balloon reacted like a startled cat, its grotesque face contorting in a threatening display while it edged towards the corner, bravado masking its apprehension.

“Coward, calm down!” Lu Yu scolded playfully, quieting the Fear Balloon. He then addressed the egg:

“You’ll be called Little Eight, your companion is Little Seven. Get along, alright?”

Spiders had eight legs, making “Little Eight” fitting. Together with Little Seven, it was both easy to remember and pleasant to hear.

The Fear Balloon cautiously returned, its human-like face regaining a naïve expression. Tentatively, it extended a ribbon-like appendage, gently touching the egg.

Ding!

The egg remained inert, still unformed and unable to respond.

“Eee-yah-yah!”

Emboldened, the Fear Balloon began poking the egg with increasing curiosity, only to be tied to a coat rack by an exasperated Lu Yu.

Ignoring its pitiful gaze, Lu Yu securely placed the egg in his inner pocket. Losing or damaging such a valuable creation would be disastrous.

Feeling fatigued, Lu Yu decided to wash up and rest.

But just as he prepared for bed, the doorbell rang.

“Is anyone home? This is the Special Department. Please open the door…”
