Chapter 3:
Chapter 3: Strangling the Fiancée:
“Boom!”
The sound of bones breaking echoed loudly through the hall. It was sharp and chilling. The force of Shen Wuxiao’s kick was simply too terrifying—the entire platform collapsed beneath them. As the dust settled, everyone gasped.
Lin Chen’s neck was completely broken. The connection between his head and body bent unnaturally, like it had no bones at all. Blood bubbles kept spurting out from his mouth, and he still had a faint trace of breath. “A**hole… my brother… will never let you go…”
“Oh? You’re still trying to threaten me?”
Seeing this, Shen Wuxiao crouched down and slammed his fist into Lin Chen’s head. “You’re still threatening?”
“Bang! Bang! Bang!”
Each punch landed like a drumbeat, shaking the hearts of everyone present. Blood splattered everywhere—it was a horrifying scene.
This time, Lin Chen was truly dead.
Shen Wuxiao slowly stood up and stretched out his hand. Uncle Wu quickly handed him a wet towel, though his eyes still held visible shock. How had the young master suddenly become so powerful—he was even stronger than Uncle Wu himself.
“Drag him away. Oh, and stab the soles of his feet a few times. I read somewhere that some people’s hearts are in their feet. Don’t let him come back alive!”
“Yes, Young Master!”
Uncle Wu waved, and men came up to drag Lin Chen’s body off the stage. Blood trailed behind him, leaving deep stains that burned into the guests’ minds.
Shen Wuxiao exhaled slowly, wiped his hands clean, then calmly scanned the room with a smile on his face.
The banquet hall was completely silent. The only sound was the occasional nervous gulp.
[Ding, congratulations to the host for completing the mission. You have killed the Son of Luck. Reward: 1,000,000 points.]
[Since the mission was completed within thirty minutes of acceptance, a special bonus is granted: Random Martial Arts, Weapon, and Elixir Gift Packs (available for immediate use).]
Shen Wuxiao wasn’t in a hurry to check the rewards. Instead, he smiled and said, “Everyone, sorry to make you laugh.”
Then, his eyes turned to Liu Qingqing, who was lying weakly on the ground. He jumped down from the stage and, ignoring his image completely, sat right next to her.
He used the blood-stained towel in his hand to gently wipe away her tears. “Let me sit with you for a bit and chat, okay?”
Liu Jinshu, who had been frozen in fear, finally tried to step forward to intervene. But the moment Shen Wuxiao’s gaze swept over him, his body trembled, and he didn’t dare take another step.
Only now did he truly realize—this man wasn’t just a “son-in-law.” He was the heir to a powerful and terrifying family.
When he liked their daughter, they were treated like in-laws. Now that things had turned out this way, they were less than ants.
But was it already too late to regret?
“Qingqing, don’t be afraid. We’re just talking.”
“I want to ask you something—am I ugly?”
Shen Wuxiao’s question pulled Liu Qingqing back to reality. Her body trembled. Suppressing her fear, she shook her head.
Not only was Shen Wuxiao not ugly, he was absurdly handsome. Even the most popular stars couldn’t compare to him.
“So, does my family have no background?”
Again, Liu Qingqing shook her head.
If Shen Wuxiao’s family didn’t count as powerful, then no family in the entire Dragon Country could say they were. The Shen family stood second to none. Even the top martial artists of the country came from their ranks. They were the cornerstone of national defense and the front line against beast invasions.
“In that case, were my feelings for you fake?” Shen Wuxiao asked.
Liu Qingqing nodded while sobbing, tears flowing down her face. Shen Wuxiao had treated her with unmatched sincerity. He had answered her every request—not with affection, but with deep, unconditional love.
Shen Wuxiao sighed. “I’m handsome. I come from a top-tier family. I have status. And I genuinely loved you.”
“So, how messed up is your brain that you ignored all that just to worship Lin Chen?”
Liu Qingqing was stunned. Speechless.
She had been spoiled and arrogant for so long that she forgot who Shen Wuxiao truly was. Maybe Shen Wuxiao himself had read too many romance novels and dreamed of sweet love. Over time, his softer side had overshadowed his former cruelty.
After changing his personality, people mistakenly assumed that he had always been gentle.
“Qingqing, I was ready to bring you and your family enormous wealth, status, and power. All thanks to you.”
“Even the top officials in Zhonghai would have to call you Young Madam and treat you with utmost respect. And this… this is what you did with that privilege?”
Liu Qingqing suddenly felt as though cold water had been dumped over her head. Her mind cleared.
She thought about how Shen Wuxiao had treated her over the past two years—and how she had treated him in return.
He had never once raised his voice. He obeyed her every whim. Where else could she find a man like him? And yet, when she had him, she pushed him away… and chose Lin Chen.
Did she love Lin Chen?
Yes. But just a little.
It was probably infatuation. Or maybe a fantasy born from being saved once by a “hero” years ago. That mysterious moment had stayed in her heart ever since.
But now, that illusion was shattered.
Could she still turn back?
“Wu Xiao…” Liu Qingqing cried out through tears as she looked at the man before her. Slowly, she pushed herself up from the ground… then got down on her knees in front of Shen Wuxiao.
“I’m sorry… I know I was wrong. Please give me another chance. Let’s get married, okay?”
“I’ll listen to you from now on. I’ll only love you. Please, I’m sorry…”
She clung to Shen Wuxiao’s pant leg and begged desperately.
The smile on Shen Wuxiao’s face twisted into something even stranger—something that sent a chill down the spine of anyone watching. But his voice was still gentle.
“Be good… don’t cry. If you keep crying, your eyes will swell and you won’t look pretty anymore.”
He lifted his hand and gently wiped away her tears, then quietly moved behind her.
A cold wind seemed to sweep through the hall.
It made everyone feel a shiver down their backs.
Then, Shen Wuxiao reached out from behind Liu Qingqing… and embraced her.
His hands slowly moved upward and rested on Liu Qingqing’s shoulders, one of them gently caressing her face.
“Wu Xiao…” Liu Qingqing trembled, her voice filled with fear and unease.
“I’m here. I’ve always been here,” Shen Wuxiao replied softly.
As he spoke, his hands naturally slid up and around her neck. From an outsider’s perspective, it looked like he was simply embracing her lovingly from behind.
“Qingqing, I want to hold you. You always pushed me away before, but please, not today. If you do, it’ll break my heart.”
As soon as the words fell, Shen Wuxiao suddenly tightened his grip. His arms exerted tremendous force and strangled Liu Qingqing’s neck.
Her eyes widened in horror as she struggled wildly. Her legs kicked helplessly against the floor.
Shen Wuxiao maintained a gentle smile as his grip tightened. “Take a deep breath… it’s normal to feel a little dizzy.”
The Liu family was in a complete panic. Liu Qingqing’s parents screamed and rushed forward, but before they could get close, they were kicked back by Shen Wuxiao’s men.
They thought of calling for the family’s martial artists to help, but the moment they saw Uncle Wu, all hope vanished. They knew they couldn’t compete. They had no backing. No chance.
They could only hope Shen Wuxiao would be merciful.
“Hmm…”
“Urgh…”
Liu Qingqing’s face turned red, her eyes bulged, blood vessels popping in them. A harsh choking sound came from her throat. Her hands slapped desperately at Shen Wuxiao’s wrists, trying to break free.
The entire banquet hall was dead silent. Only the sounds of her desperate struggle echoed.
Ten seconds… twenty… thirty…
Time passed quietly.
Liu Qingqing’s movements weakened. Her arms dropped. Her legs went limp.
No breath remained.
Shen Wuxiao didn’t let go. He gently leaned forward and placed a kiss on her cheek.
He whispered tenderly, “Baby, just sleep for a while. Everything will be okay. From now on, it’ll just be us. No one will get between us ever again.”
Then, with one hand pressing on the top of her head, he violently twisted her neck to the right.
Ka-la~
A crisp sound rang out. Liu Qingqing’s body trembled… and then collapsed completely.
The Liu family members clutched their mouths, tears streaming down their faces. Some were so terrified they wet themselves.
The guests stood frozen, paralyzed by fear. They were afraid Shen Wuxiao had truly lost it—and would start killing indiscriminately.
Shen Wuxiao calmly stood up and covered Liu Qingqing’s now hideously twisted face with the blood-stained towel.
He smiled again, clapped his hands, and looked around. “So, what did everyone think of today’s show?”
No one dared respond. Heads lowered.
A madman. He was an absolute madman.
Shen Wuxiao’s smile faded slightly, and his tone deepened. “What do you think of this scene?”
Someone, trembling, finally forced a reply, “Master Shen, you’re joking… this wasn’t a show at all!”
“Wasn’t this just a banquet to celebrate your promotion to Grandmaster? That’s why you invited us all here!”
Others quickly echoed, “Yes, yes! Congratulations to Master Shen!”
“Congratulations to Master Shen for advancing to Grandmaster! Truly worth celebrating!”
The hall echoed with forced congratulations. Some guests quickly ran to tear down all the red ‘囍’ banners that decorated the venue.
“Good, thank you all for your congratulations,” Shen Wuxiao said with a pleasant smile. “The banquet is now over. I won’t keep you.”
Hearing this, the guests let out a collective sigh of relief and rushed to say their farewells.
Some members of the Liu family tried to slip away amidst the chaos—but they were quickly captured.
Once the unimportant guests had left, silence returned. Only Shen Wuxiao’s subordinates and the remaining Liu family remained.
Shen Wuxiao looked at them and shook his head. “When Qingqing got engaged to me, your Liu family enjoyed all the benefits.”
“Now that she’s committed such shameless acts, you think your family should escape punishment?”
“A family that rises together must also fall together.”
“Are you all ready?”
His smile was terrifying. The Liu family members panicked and tried to flee, but the hall had been fully surrounded. Shen Wuxiao’s warriors were everywhere.
“My dear son-in-law… please, it’s all over now. Let’s just move on from this!” Liu Jinshu begged, his voice trembling.
“From now on, the Liu family will follow your lead…!”
“Yes, yes! Just treat us like loyal dogs!”
“Please, Master Shen, have mercy…”
“Tsk tsk tsk… I don’t need dogs like you,” Shen Wuxiao chuckled coldly. “Besides, you took advantage of my name to grab everything you could.”
“And it wasn’t just that. You acted like kings—raising your heads high and barking at your master like mutts who forgot their place.”
He turned his gaze to Liu Jinshu.
Liu Jinshu’s heart sank. He finally understood—Shen Wuxiao planned to kill all of them.
“Master Shen, you can’t! So many people saw what happened today. If something happens to us, it won’t be easy for you to explain!”
With a playful look, Shen Wuxiao suddenly slapped him across the face. “Master Liu, you really don’t know your place.”
“Everyone knows who I am—Shen Wuxiao. Who dares to say a word against me? Whoever does… will die before they finish their sentence.”
“No more nonsense!” Shen Wuxiao pointed to Han Zhen. “Take him too!”
At his command, the warriors stepped forward and began herding the Liu family into a corner.
Shen Wuxiao turned and walked toward the exit.
Cries, pleading, and curses rang out behind him—but he acted like he didn’t hear a thing.
Just as he reached the door, he stopped. His expression lit up with a manic gleam.
“Close the door… leave no one behind!”
