Chapter : UNDERSTANDING THE POWER SYSTEM
In this world, power is not free. It is bought with suffering, stolen from the damned, or carved from your own soul.
1. The Basics: How Powers Works
A. The Source of Power
All supernatural abilities come from one of three tainted sources
- Bloodbinding: All supernatural abilities stem from tainted blood, a corrupting force that mutates the body and soul.
- Some are born with it (cursed lineages).
- Others gain it through rituals (drinking demon blood, surviving a wraith's touch).
- The strongest powers require sacrifice of their loved one's life, one's own sanity, or years of lifespan).
1. The Flesh – Mutations, monstrous strength, or unnatural healing. (Comes from consuming the dead or alchemical experiments.
2. The Shadow – Invisibility, phasing, or controlling darkness. (Stolen from spirits or cursed places.)
3. The Voice – Curses, mind control, or summoning entities. (Learned from forbidden texts or whispered by demons.)
B. The Cost of Power
Every ability demands payment in one of three ways
1. Blood – You must hurt yourself or others to fuel it.
2. Memory – Each use erases something precious.
3. Physical Corruption: Prolonged use warps the body (blackened veins, hollow eyes, monstrous mutations).
4. Soul Degradation: The more power used, the more the user loses their humanity (hallucinations, uncontrollable bloodlust).
5. The Hunger: Powers demand fuel—blood, pain, or memories must be consumed to sustain them.
C. Gaining Powers
1. The Forbidden Rituals
- Find a dark place(a graveyard at midnight, a mirror in a bloodstained room).
- Speak the true name of something that shouldn't be named.
- Offer it something irreplaceable (your reflection, your true name, a loved one's breath).
2. The Stolen Power
- Kill someone who had abilities— take their eyes, heart, or shadow.
- But beware— their ghost will follow you.
-Kill the target while they're using their power.
Eat their still-beating heart under a full moon.
Their power flows into you—but so does their final emotion.
