Chapter 163: chapter 56

Reines Archisorte swirled the tea in her cup, watching the golden liquid catch the light. She took a slow sip before setting it down with a delicate clink.

"So… the Magic Eye Collection Train seeks to claim my dear brother," she mused, voice light yet edged with amusement. "And not just his pitiable bloodline, but his very mind as well."

She exhaled, half in exasperation, half in amusement.

"Well then, I suppose I'll have to mold his mind into my own before they get the chance."

Grey blinked, tilting her head. "Huh?"

Cyd sighed, already sensing where this was going. He rubbed his temples, silently debating whether he should even attempt to stop Reines from teasing Grey.

Grey, ever pure and unsuspecting, turned helplessly to Cyd for an explanation.

"Grey, come closer," Cyd said in a low voice.

Her ears turned red as she instinctively leaned away. "Eh?! W-why?"

Reines chuckled, resting her chin on her palm. "Oh dear, Grey, is your heart racing? What kind of scandalous things are you imagining?"

Grey's entire face flushed. "T-that's not—!"

"Just listen," Cyd cut in before Reines could push her any further. He leaned in, speaking quietly.

"The Magic Eye Collection Train wants to… reshape my master's mind, molding it into something unrecognizable. Reines, in her own way, is just making sure she gets to him first."

Grey's pupils dilated. Her hands clutched the edges of the table.

"Wait, wait, wait—" she stammered. "Turning Master's mind… into Reines' shape? That's not right! That's—!"

Reines let out a soft hum. "Oh? Why so distressed? He is my brother, after all."

"B-but there should be love! Not manipulation!" Grey protested, hair practically steaming as she tried to process it all.

Cyd sighed. "This is just how they are, Grey. It's… complicated."

"Don't sugarcoat it, White Knight," Reines said with a smirk. "My brother is mine, whether he likes it or not."

Grey's expression twisted between horror and confusion.

"Wait, Cyd—y-you're okay with this?" she asked, looking at him in disbelief.

"Do I look like I'm okay with it?" Cyd deadpanned.

Grey hesitated, then quickly shook her head.

Reines chuckled. "Oh, relax. I have no interest in actually breaking him. He's just fun to play with."

Grey wasn't convinced. "T-this is too much…"

Reines sipped her tea, then gestured toward Cyd. "Enough distractions. We have a problem to solve. My brother's mind is already caught in the Heroic Spirit's grasp. That train is the final push he needs to lose himself completely."

Grey's expression darkened. "Then… we stop him before that happens."

"Precisely."

Cyd crossed his arms. "And the missing relic?"

"As expected," Reines said, unfazed. "It's been stolen, hasn't it?"

Grey nodded. "We don't know who took it yet, but—"

"Then that's our goal," Cyd finished.

Reines exhaled, glancing between the two of them. "You'll have to act fast. I won't be able to intervene directly, but I can give you an invitation onto the train. However—" She tapped the table lightly. "Only two people can board."

Grey tensed. "Then… it's just us?"

Cyd smirked, pulling something from his pocket. The Helm of Hades gleamed in the dim light.

"We'll need a trump card," he said, tossing it in the air before catching it smoothly.

Reines raised an eyebrow. "Ah, so you intend to cheat."

"More like leveling the playing field," Cyd corrected.

Reines let out an amused breath. "Fine. Just remember—my brother has been saving money in secret, thinking he can escape his debt. That's why he's so desperate."

Cyd narrowed his eyes. "Debt?"

Reines smiled sweetly, sliding a sleek black credit card across the table toward him. "Take this. When he has nowhere else to turn, use it."

Cyd picked it up, frowning. "Wait, you're just handing me a black card? You let him struggle with debt and had this the whole time?"

Reines took another sip of tea. "Of course. He's family, after all."

"Family expenses," Reines said sweetly, nibbling on a pastry. "My brother will never be able to repay it."

"Ahh, so that's why he's always acting so stressed."

Cyd shook his head as he took a moment to look at Reines. "You are a piece of work."

Reines smirked. "Naturally. Now, shall we begin?"
