Chapter 25: 25-Silver-tier Provocation: The Level Gap is Unbridgeable? So You Say.
---
Old Man Lin was utterly baffled by the accusation, scratching his slightly balding head as he mulled it over.
Could the Lin family really be hiding a once-in-a-generation genius like this?
No way—there were only three kids of exam age in their family this year. Unless… a secret lovechild out there somewhere?
The more he thought, the more plausible it seemed. He was about to call home when his phone rang first.
Seeing the caller, Old Man Lin's face bloomed with delight. He answered eagerly, only for his expression to darken moments later.
"Old Zhang, you're still messing with me! It's clearly your Zhang family's kid, and you're pinning it on my Lins—think it's fun to toy with an old man?!"
The more he spoke, the angrier he got, nearly ready to throw hands.
Principal Wang stepped out of the security booth. "You're both ancient—can't you behave? If you're gonna fight, take it outside."
He paused, then added, "Wait, what're you two squabbling over now?"
Old Man Lin, red-faced and fuming, didn't swing but jabbed a finger at Old Man Zhang. "Old Zhang claimed my Lin family produced a genius. I almost believed it, but my family just called—not one of ours! Isn't that infuriating?"
Principal Wang blinked, confused. "Hold on—you don't know if your own family has a genius without a call? What's there to argue about?"
"I didn't explain clearly," Old Man Zhang cut in. "Word just came in—a kid in a Tianfu High uniform soloed the Hell difficulty Boar Forest instance. He's not from our Zhang family…"
Old Man Lin interrupted, "Not yours, sure—but he's not ours either!"
"Don't play coy after getting the upper hand, Lin! Keep this up, and I swear—"
Principal Wang's mind flashed to Su Mo. He slapped his bald forehead. "Stop bickering—I've got it!"
Both old men turned to him in unison.
Wang didn't mince words. "He's not from your Zhangs or your Lins—he's a Tianfu High student!"
That only deepened their confusion.
"A Tianfu High student?" x2
Wang couldn't suppress a smirk at their dumbfounded looks. "Yup, our student. Been here since high school, awakened just four days ago!"
"Four days ago?!"
"Old Wang, this isn't a joking matter!"
"Yeah, there's a limit to kidding around—you believe this yourself?!"
"Which family stuffed their prodigy in your school now?"
Wang snorted. "Look at you two, so sheltered by your clans you've forgotten what a real genius is.
You just got the call—where's he at? Today, I'll show you what a true genius looks like!"
The two old men exchanged glances, unsure.
Wang's words sounded absurd, but his confidence left them second-guessing.
Old Man Lin hesitated. "I heard he's out of the instance, heading to Tianfu City's west gate. Probably two or three kilometers out by now."
Wang waved a hand. "Good enough—let's go!"
Golden light flared around him, and he shot into the sky, vanishing.
Left staring, Old Men Zhang and Lin glowed gold too, about to follow—until they noticed the eight sharply dressed youths still gawking on the ground.
With a wave, they scooped them up and soared off.
…
Su Mo trudged on, the near-10-ton tusk on his shoulder, the crowd around him swelling.
At first, it was just awakeners trailing from Boar Forest.
Then silver lights flashed as silver-tier powerhouses from the city appeared, bombarding him with questions.
"Hey, kid, is that really from the Hell-mode Boar Forest?"
"What's the Hell instance like—spill it!"
"There's really a golden boss in there? What's it look like?"
"You soloed a golden boss all by yourself?"
…
At first, Su Mo tossed out a few answers, but as the questions looped, he clammed up.
One silver-tier awakener, after getting no response to his barrage, snapped.
Blocking Su Mo's path, he barked, "What's your deal, kid? I'm talking to you—don't you hear me?!"
Su Mo frowned. "You're in my way. Move."
The silver-tier grinned smugly at the reply. "Oh, so you can talk! Thought you were mute. Didn't hear me earlier, huh?
Telling me to move? You didn't build this road—I'm standing here. What're you gonna do about it?
Think you're hot stuff for clearing a Hell instance and beating a level 20 golden boss?
You don't even know the gap between 20 and 40! If that instance wasn't off-limits to me, I'd choke that level 20 golden boss with one hand—"
[Boom!]
Before he finished, he flew back 300 meters, snapping five or six trees before stopping.
The silver-tier, trembling, raised a shaky hand toward Su Mo, tried to speak, then spat blood and passed out.
The surrounding awakeners didn't catch what happened, but the scene told the story.
Two silver-tiers zipped over to check him, their faces grim after a quick look.
Flying back, they whispered to the others, "Eight broken ribs, organs trashed. Even if he survives, he's done."
At that, over 20 silver-tier awakeners surrounded Su Mo in a flash.
"You dare ambush a Silver Wolf Guild member?! Guess you don't know how to spell 'death'!"
"Big bro, let's waste him!"
"He only hurt our guy with a sneak attack—let me take him out!"
"Think beating a level 20 golden boss means you can take on silver-tiers? Today, I'll teach you the level gap's unbridgeable—"
**Boom!**
Su Mo dropped the 10-ton tusk with a dull thud, shaking the nearby ground.
