Imperial Academy Girl Magic Officer

Chapter 17 - She Had Such Abilities?

As I raised the mana throughout my body, a burning heat welled up inside.

Whoosh!

Based on that intense and firm energy, I moved forward roughly.
It’s refreshing.
And I’m happy.
I trembled with pleasure from the excitement. How much I wanted to unleash such power, it felt good during the duel with Wolf, but now I was incomparably happier.

Because I’m handling real ‘mana’! It’s not just for the purpose of increasing muscle strength, but really drawing out magic to handle magic, right?
In the past, if I operated by pressing buttons like ‘Use Skill’, now I was enjoying directly feeling and commanding all the power.

Whoosh─!

As the target suddenly appeared right in front of me, I instantly concentrated all my mana into my hand.
Crack!
Then I created a huge and solid piece of ice.
If someone saw magic floating in my hand, they would be shocked. It was a size that Grade 7 generally couldn’t handle.

That’s how much I was giving it my all.
“Hnngh─!”
After a few more seconds, when there were only a few steps left to the steel structure, I kicked the ground to close the distance. Then I swung my hand, hardened by ice magic, vigorously.
Crash─!
A fierce tearing sound that didn’t seem to come from such a delicate hand pierced my ears.

“Ugh!”
As ice shards and steel fragments flew in all directions, I plunged into the dirt floor and rolled several times.

“Haa, haa.”

Only when the movement stopped did I roughly exhale the breath I had been holding.
My face, which had been dry, was drenched in sweat with hair sticking to it, and my clean arms and legs were covered in gravel fragments.
In an instant, I became close to exhaustion.
What terribly poor stamina.
I tried clenching my fist while lying spread-eagled on the ground. It trembled as if convulsing. As if I had never been vigorous, I couldn’t move a single finger. Other parts were no different.
In other words, it was a sign of mana depletion.
Rustle, rustle─
I carefully raised my upper body and leaned against a nearby rock. Then I unbuttoned my chest and took a deep breath.
I activated magic that I couldn’t handle with my own hands. As a result of gathering and releasing mana to the maximum, I exerted power that Grade 7 generally couldn’t even attempt.
The target, crushed in the shape of that huge ice lump in front, was proving this.
It would be about Grade 3.
In a world where one grade changes an officer’s status, I jumped four grades. Even thinking simply, the aftermath would be tremendous, which is why I was exhausted after one punch.
The pain as if I had been hit by a hammer on my arm was also because of that.
Well, if I lower the level of magic to fit this body, I could last ten minutes as I said before, but…
Isn’t it the way to grow faster by pushing the body harshly? I just want to train as efficiently as possible.
“Phew──.”
With continued rest, the pain surrounding my body gradually disappeared. I felt much more comfortable, to the point where I could feel the sensation of silk fluttering in the wind tickling my thighs.
Warmth rushed to my limbs, which had been clearly empty due to mana depletion.
It was all an effect of mana recovery.
“But this is……”
Too fast.
Not even thirty minutes had passed, but half of my mana had recovered. What kind of astonishing recovery is this, I stood up, my loosened hair fluttering.

Stagger─

My legs wobbled as I hadn’t fully recovered yet, but I was able to stand on both feet.
This doesn’t make sense.
Since I used magic by scraping up everything to the bottom, it should have taken at least an hour to regain strength. Even this was calculated as the minimum.
In a normal case, I would barely be able to move my arms on the rock by now, but look at my body now,

Already vitality had returned to my fingertips and toes, and there was nothing particularly wrong even when I swung my arms around.
In the end, there was only one answer.
It was one of the changes gained when my body changed.
But questions remained.
The letter I saw in the temporary lodgings said penalties were given, but isn’t this power contrary to that? In a way, it was in line with being able to control magic of multiple attributes.
“Hmm……”
Well, I’ll just use it well.
Thud─!
I took out a new steel dummy piled up on one side of the training ground and placed it in the center of the open space. I decided not to worry anymore.
My goal is to train my body anyway, right?
Because my mana level was low, I had to train for a long time, but I gained an effect that could greatly shorten the period. I just had to use my abilities diligently.
It’s not like I’ll get answers by racking my brains now anyway.
It was a decision made under rational judgment. The priority was to increase strength and mana quantity as quickly as possible.
If I live like this, someday I’ll know the whole story.
“Haaa……”
As I finished my contemplation, my head cleared. I took a deep breath and lowered my posture. Then I sent mana from my ankles, to my calves, to my thighs.
I won’t miss this opportunity.
If mana fills up quickly, I just need to push myself more harshly. I will transform myself with double, no, several times the intensity of the existing training.
I will finally be reborn as the Empire’s best officer.
Whoosh─!
I split the air with blue light in my eyes.

An infirmary filled with the smell of alcohol.

Among the cadets visiting the infirmary for various reasons, such as getting medicine for a cold or resting on a bed with a fever, one noticeable man was seated.

“Gu, guuh……”

He, who had bandages wrapped around various parts of his body or splints added, made a groaning sound. Even that wasn’t pronounced properly as he had gauze in his mouth.

“Hey, hey, are you okay?”
“What on earth happened…?”

Wolf glared at the two cadets who came to visit him. Unlike when they were laughing together about Yena, their faces were full of bewilderment.

“Be quiet for a bit.”
“O-Okay.”

Wolf glanced at them and raised his upper body, frowning.
It was difficult to maintain consciousness due to the pain.

‘What kind of trick did she pull?’

His head throbbed as if it was about to burst. However, he couldn’t forget the face of Yena Freud, that damn woman.
Something was wrong.
He should have won. That woman was Grade 7, literally trash. She was someone with nothing special about her.
But why?
“Fuck!”

Crunch─
Wolf clenched his jaw until veins popped out on his forehead and opened his eyes wide. His killing intent was so thick that the friends who came to visit him trembled.

“Sh-Should we tell your father? He’s the head of the Imperial Conservative Party, so he might be able to get rid of that girl……”
Perhaps aware of the atmosphere, one of the cadets standing by his side carefully opened his mouth.
“Shut up!”
Bang─!
Wolf cut off his words by slamming the wooden wall next to the bed.
It was a typical scene of survival of the fittest. Although they were in the same class and year, they were not equal relationships.
They were just gathered because they were children of high-ranking nobles who had some power in the Empire, merely a group that fluctuated at every word of Wolf, who had the most powerful family.
“I won’t tell my father for now.”
“O-Okay.”
“If you say so, then that’s how it is.”
Wolf checked the children nodding with sour expressions, then dropped his head and clutched his forehead.

He bit his lips hard behind his palm covering his mouth.
‘I don’t need to borrow the family’s power for something like this.’
His father would be racking his brains over the intensifying domestic political situation, he didn’t want to reach out and ask for help unnecessarily.

It hadn’t even been a month since he declared his ambition to become the best in the military academy, how would he think if he now asked for revenge because he was beaten by a commoner?

‘He would say I brought shame to the Streman family.’
He didn’t want to unnecessarily lower his father’s evaluation of him. As long as he doesn’t look at me unfavorably, there’s no need to throw bait to be bitten.
Just quietly inherit the power your father has. To do that, at least I shouldn’t show embarrassing behavior.
“Just stay quiet.”
“O-Okay.”
Wolf steeled himself while demanding thorough silence from his friends.
‘Yes, it was just a coincidence.’
This result came out because I let my guard down for a moment. I underestimated Yena’s skills too much and a small ‘mistake’ occurred. If I had displayed my true skills, Yena wouldn’t have been a match.
If I display my true skills, such trivial problems will be solved before long.
Squeeze─
Wolf justified his mistake like that, and rubbed his thickly swollen cheek with an ice pack beside the bed.

‘I’ll give you hell.’

I tried to end the bad relationship with light education, but you insisted on making it a big deal.
Under the warmth where most cadets would be enjoying the sunshine while walking in the park, he vowed in a room filled with a pungent scent, shaking his fist tightly gripping the cold ice.
“Ugh, uugh……”
That he would return the pain he was feeling now doubled.
