Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Saving Roronoa Zoro

People were shocked to see Luffy punch Helmeppo.

"Luffy! Contain yourself! They represent the Marines!" Koby tried to stop Luffy.

"I know! But they're still trash!" Luffy said angrily.

"Y-You hit me! How dare you?! Not even my father has ever dared to hit me!" Helmeppo said, holding his face. "I am His Lordship, the son of Captain Morgan! I'll tell my father!"

The people were frightened upon hearing that.

"That's if you make it to the base."

Oliver stepped in and landed a second punch to make sure he stayed quiet.

"Man, it feels good to hit him."

Once again, the people were stunned.

"Are you guys going to hit us too?"

The Marines looked at each other, then grabbed Helmeppo and quickly left.

"What have you done?! This is a disaster! The Captain will mobilize the Marines!"

Koby was panicking, unlike Luffy and Oliver.

"Why did you hit him?" Luffy asked.

"I just felt like it," Oliver replied.

"Oh, okay. Let's go see Zoro."

Both of them headed to the Marine base to recruit Zoro.

"You again? I already turned down your invitation!" Zoro said.

"I'm Luffy! I came to untie you because I want you to be my nakama!" Luffy told him.

"Did you not hear anything I said?!" Zoro asked again. "I already told you I still have things I want to do. Who in their right mind would become a pirate just for fun?"

"Yeah, whatever. But what about you? Everyone says you're an evil bounty hunter," Luffy said.

"I don't care what people say about me. I have my own convictions! I've never done anything I regret, and it will always be that way... That's why I won't become a pirate!" Zoro declared.

Luffy listened but didn't really care about his opinion.

"That doesn't matter! I've already decided you'll be my nakama!" Luffy said confidently.

"Don't be so selfish!" Zoro shouted.

"I don't think you'll change his mind. I accepted right away because of that," Oliver added.

"They say you use a katana, right?" Luffy ignored what had just been said.

"That's right, but you'll have to untie me so I can show you," Zoro responded.

"And your katana?" Luffy asked.

"That stupid kid took it. After my life, that katana is the most important thing to me. It's my treasure!" Zoro said.

"Your treasure? Wow, it must be important! Alright! I'll go to that stupid kid and take your katana back," Luffy said. "And if you want it back, you'll have to be my nakama!"

"That's unfair!" Zoro shouted. "If you get my katana back, I'll think about it."

Luffy ran toward the Marine base.

"That's just how he is. You'll get used to it when you're his nakama," Oliver said with a smile.

"Sounds like you've known him for a long time," Zoro replied.

"... Someone told me about him, but yeah, that's how he is. And he's pretty entertaining," Oliver said. "Well, it's time for me to go too."

"You're just as crazy as your captain. Do you really think it's easy to enter a Marine base?" Zoro asked.

"I don't think so, but Luffy will take care of that, and I'll handle the distraction."

Oliver looked up and saw the upper half of Captain Morgan's statue falling.

He walked over, leaving Zoro alone.

"How egotistical do you have to be to want a statue of yourself when you didn't even capture Kuro?"

He noticed that the head of Morgan's statue was still intact, so he grabbed it and, testing his strength, threw it into the sky.

On top of the Marine tower, Captain Morgan was furious at the destruction of his statue.

"Captain! There's someone in the execution yard!" A Marine reported.

"What?! Those traitors will fall one by one! Kill them all!"

Captain Morgan was a tall man with a metal jaw, blond hair, and an axe where his right hand should be.

"Yes, Captain!"

A Marine aimed toward the yard when something flew past him and crashed on top, shattering.

Morgan looked and realized it was part of his own head.

"WHO DID THAT?!" He roared in fury.

"Sir, it's someone down below," a Marine told him.

Morgan went to see who it was and spotted Oliver waving at him.

"Get down there and kill those bastards!" He shouted, slamming his axe down.

Oliver had heard Morgan's shout, so he headed toward the arena to wait for the Marines to arrive.

As he was on his way, he heard through the base's megaphones that all Marines were ordered to capture and kill the intruders.

He hurried to get there and saw several Marines arriving at the arena, so he pulled one of his two axes from his inventory and threw it at them.

The axe struck, forcing them away from Zoro and Koby.

"Sorry, I took too long."

He grabbed the axe and rested it on his shoulder.

"Are you guys okay?" he asked Zoro and Koby.

"Y-Yeah," Koby replied.

"Where is he?" Zoro asked about Luffy.

"He should still be inside the base."

At that moment, Morgan shouted an order to surround the entire base, ensuring Luffy wouldn't escape.

"What an interesting situation, don't you think? Are you trying to stage a coup?" Morgan asked. "Roronoa Zoro. I know your reputation, but you shouldn't underestimate me."

As Morgan spoke, more Marines arrived, weapons at the ready.

"Against my power, you and your strength... are nothing but scum! Aim!"

All the Marines prepared themselves, just as Oliver did, unsure if Luffy would make it in time.

"Fire!"

The Marines opened fire, but Luffy arrived just in time, blocking the bullets with his body, shocking Koby, Zoro, and even some of the Marines.

'He made it,' Oliver sighed in relief.

"Bullets don't work on me!"

All the bullets that hit Luffy bounced off his body, striking everyone around and knocking Koby out.

"Tell me! What the hell are you?!" Zoro asked.

"I am... the one who will become the King of the Pirates!" Luffy said with a smile. "By the way, which one is your treasure? Since I didn't know, I brought all three."

"They all belong to me because my style is Santoryu," Zoro replied.

"If we fight together against the Marines, you'll be seen as a villain opposing the government, or we could die here. What do you choose?" Luffy asked, holding Zoro's katanas.

"Are you a demon? If I'm going to die here, then I'd rather do it as... a pirate!" Zoro declared.

"Great! Then you'll be my nakama!" Luffy shouted joyfully.

"Well, you heard me. Hurry up and untie me!" Zoro demanded.

"I'm happy that Zoro accepted, but..." Luffy glanced at the still-shocked Marines. "... I don't think we should waste time."

The Marines were still trying to comprehend how the bullets hadn't affected Luffy.

"That kid isn't normal. I've heard rumors about the Devil Fruits. He must have eaten one," Morgan said.

"Are you talking about one of those treasures of the sea?!"

"Then he possesses a power from the Devil himself!"

The Marines were stunned until they saw Luffy freeing Zoro, prompting Morgan to order them to attack with swords.

"This knot is really tight," Luffy muttered as he struggled to untie him.

"Come on, you're taking too long!" Zoro yelled.

"Luffy, let me," Oliver said.

Using his claws, Oliver easily cut the ropes.

Zoro grabbed his katanas and blocked every Marine attacking him with just his three swords.

"Wow! Incredible!" Luffy shouted, amazed by his skill.

"Impressive," Oliver said. 'I'll have to reach a similar level of what the system told me is true.'

"Nobody move, or you'll all die," Zoro warned the Marines.

The Marines flinched at Zoro's threat while he turned to Luffy.

"I'll join your crew," Zoro began.

"I told you I'd join you. After this incident, I'll be a criminal, but I still have my own goals! I will become the World's Strongest Swordsman!"

"I don't care if my name is clean or not, good or bad, it doesn't matter! As long as I'm known across the world! But if you do anything that gets in my way, I'll kill you myself!"

Luffy just smiled at his words.

"Great! The best swordsman in the world! Since you're part of the future Pirate King's crew, if you don't achieve it, I'll be really disappointed!" Luffy replied.

"Heh, well said!" Zoro smirked.

Oliver watched them, seeing how both had dreams to fulfill.

'They're truly impressive.'

Morgan yelled at the Marines, ordering them to stop making a fool of themselves and to finish them off.

"Zoro, get down. Gomu Gomu no...Muchi"

Zoro obeyed, allowing Luffy to stretch his leg and kick every Marine in sight.

"What did you just do?" Zoro asked.

"I'm a rubber man," Luffy replied.

The Marines were wounded and unable to defeat them.

"I order all who surrender to commit suicide immediately," Morgan commanded. "I don't need trash like you. That's an order!"

The Marines trembled but still raised their weapons, preparing to take their own lives. Before they could act, Oliver pulled out his second axe and, using Electro, hurled it at Morgan.

Morgan saw the axe and attempted to block it, but the electricity paralyzed him, causing him to fall to the ground.

"That bastard," Oliver said angrily, disgusted by Morgan. "Luffy, leave him to me. I want to practice something in a fight against him."

"Alright."

Oliver sprinted toward his first axe while Morgan struggled to get up.

Reaching him, Oliver swung the axe, which Morgan barely blocked, forcing him to stagger backward.

'This doesn't feel right.'

Oliver put the axe away and attacked with his fists instead, preventing Morgan from getting up.

He punched Morgan in the face repeatedly, keeping him down.

'These hits are too weak.'

He tried increasing his strength, but with a single punch, he sent Morgan flying through the wall, crashing into one of the towers.

'That was too strong.'

Looking at his hand, he saw blood.

"From 1 to 100... I need to learn how to fight better, or I'll end up killing someone."

He clenched his fist tightly at the thought of taking a life.
