In This Life, I Will Extremely Pamper My Short-Lived Husband

Chapter 6: Chapter 6 What to Do When Xie Yanchuan Misunderstands

Watching Xie Yanchuan become increasingly conflicted, Xu Jinzhi quickly said, "Then I'll head back first."

"Okay," Xie Yanchuan nodded again, even seeming to breathe a sigh of relief.

Xu Jinzhi left the office, took only a few steps, then turned back to look at Xie Yanchuan standing at the office door, feeling somewhat disconcerted in her heart.

At this moment, Xu Jinzhi missed the Xie Yanchuan who would have given her a farewell kiss proactively.

Xie Yanchuan just stood at the door, watching Xu Jinzhi look back at him, he slightly moved his lips, as if wanting to say something, but not knowing what he could say.

Xu Jinzhi didn't speak either, just smiled, turned around, and truly walked away.

Xie Yanchuan stood there, watching Xu Jinzhi's figure disappear from his sight before he returned to his office.

Inside the office, Xie Yanchuan was left alone, with not much different from usual, except for the extra cup on the desk proving that someone had indeed been there just before.

Xie Yanchuan sat down, pondering the conversation he had just had with Xu Jinzhi, and for some reason, he always felt it was a bit subtle.

If all went well, they would marry soon, and Xu Jinzhi would become his wife.

At that thought, Xie Yanchuan lowered his head and blinked slightly.

Two days later.

In the Xu Group's corporate office building, a line of directors and executives sat in the conference room, with representatives from the Xu Group and the Xie Group seated on opposite sides of the table.

The conference room was quiet, with only the slight rustling of papers as Xie Suian and Xu Zhen signed the contract.

By signing this contract, the Xie Family and the Xu Family would be permanently bound together.

Once the contract was successfully signed, three copies were made, with each family keeping one for their record.

Xie Suian stood up and reached out to Xu Zhen, "Mr. Xu, from now on, we're truly one family."

"Yes, one family," said Xu Zhen, who didn't forget to cast a glance at Xie Linchuan standing next to Xie Suian, his eyes filled with undisguised contempt.

Xie Linchuan felt somewhat apologetic, enduring such scornful looks in silence, while Xie Suian said nothing; after all, at the end of the day, it was the Xie Family that had been less than honorable to start with.

After the contract signing was over, the group prepared to head to the hotel. It was a day to celebrate the formal cooperation between the two families, and arrangements had already been made at the hotel.

Work matters had been settled, so now seated together, no one continued to discuss work-related topics.

Xu Jinzhi's tolerance for alcohol was pretty good, and since today was such an occasion, she hadn't drunk much. Halfway through, she went to the restroom.

When Xu Jinzhi came out again, she saw Xie Linchuan standing at the end of the hallway.

Xu Jinzhi paused in her steps, unable to help rolling her eyes; if it weren't for her experiences in her past life, she wouldn't have seen through what kind of person Xie Linchuan really was.

But because of her past life, Xu Jinzhi knew all too well the ensuing entanglements between Xie Linchuan and that woman, and just how detestable Xie Linchuan's character was.

Hence, with the perspective of a god, Xu Jinzhi looked down upon Xie Linchuan.

Xu Jinzhi walked past him, blatantly ignoring Xie Linchuan, yet he still stopped her, "Mr. Xu."

Xu Jinzhi halted and said impatiently, "What do you want, Mr. Xie?"

Xie Linchuan took a couple of steps towards Xu Jinzhi, then very apologetically said, "About our matter, I owe you an apology."

"Our matter?" Xu Jinzhi sneered with evident disbelief, "Don't you dare!"

"It's like you're making it seem as if I'm so in love with you. It was just a casual mention by our families, and besides, the person who is getting engaged to me now is your brother! Saying such suggestive things, what if Xie Yanchuan misunderstands?"

Upon hearing this, Xie Linchuan's expression grew somewhat complicated, "What I mean is..."

"I don't care!" Xu Jinzhi directly interrupted Xie Linchuan, then said indifferently, "As for you, just go on being all lovey-dovey with your girlfriend. As for me, I will naturally be lovey-dovey with Xie Yanchuan."

"It would be better if we avoid any non-work related interactions in the future."

After finishing her words, Xu Jinzhi turned around and walked away, not giving Xie Linchuan any chance to speak.

Xie Linchuan just watched Xu Jinzhi's retreating figure, frowning uncontrollably. He still felt somewhat sorry, for Xu Jinzhi, and for his own brother, Xie Yanchuan.

But he was helpless; he was still in love with that woman, unable to forget her.

When Xu Jinzhi returned to the private room, the people inside were still chatting merrily. She sat down in her spot and, seeing Xu Zhen already flushed from drinking, whispered, "Drink less."

Xu Zhen nodded, then continued drinking, clearly brushing off her advice.

Xu Jinzhi fell silent, not saying anything more. She took out her phone and found Xie Yanchuan's WeChat, thinking about what to send him.

After hesitating for quite a while, Xu Jinzhi finally messaged Xie Yanchuan, "What are you doing?"

These past few days, busy with negotiating contracts, she hadn't had time to contact Xie Yanchuan.

After sending the message, Xu Jinzhi constantly watched her phone, clearly waiting for Xie Yanchuan's reply. However, he seemed busy with something and didn't respond for a long time.

Even after the meal was over, Xu Jinzhi still hadn't received Xie Yanchuan's message, making her feel rather bored. She guessed Xie Yanchuan must be busy in the lab again.

But Xu Jinzhi wasn't discouraged. She would have time tomorrow, and then she would go and find Xie Yanchuan herself.

The next day.

At seven-thirty in the morning, Xu Jinzhi came downstairs to have breakfast in the dining room.

Xu Zhen was already eating by then. Hearing the noise, he looked up and saw his daughter with a smile blossoming like flowers, the embodiment of a girl with springtime in her heart.

"What's with you?" Xu Zhen asked, raising an eyebrow.

Xu Jinzhi responded coolly, "What do you mean, 'what's with me'?"

Seeing Xu Jinzhi not giving a direct answer, Xu Zhen didn't press further. But he glanced at Xu Jinzhi twice; how could he, an old fox, fail to see that there was something off with Xu Jinzhi?

After all, who hasn't been young before?

Xu Zhen decided to see through it without saying it.

After breakfast, the father and daughter headed to the company to start the day's work.

There was a senior executive meeting that afternoon, and by the time it ended, it was already almost three.

Xu Jinzhi was the first to leave the meeting room. She dropped her assistant Chen behind and hurriedly went to her office. At this time, everyone had yet to notice anything amiss.

It wasn't until Xu Jinzhi quickly came out of her office again, carrying her bag, that it became clear she was going out.

"Where are you off to?" Xu Zhen asked casually as Xu Jinzhi walked by.

"Just some business," Xu Jinzhi said, and without waiting for Xu Zhen to ask more, she had already walked away.
