Chapter 15: Chapter 15

[You accepted a merchant caravan escort quest, preparing to protect them on their journey to the City of Water and Hot Springs, Alcanretia.]

[The merchants had all heard of your title, Quest King. Everyone placed their full confidence in you. On the road, you encountered an attack from starving wolves.]

[With your masterful swordsmanship, you defeated the enemies in mere moments, earning cheers from everyone.]

[At night, everyone wanted to rest, but you suggested continuing the journey, causing a dispute.]

"Rest? Sleep? You're businessmen, aren't you? Time is money! Resting for one night means earning one night's worth of money less!"

Kei spoke firmly.

He had already completed almost all of the quests in the beginner village. While looking for something else to do, he noticed this merchant escort mission and thought he could do it along the way to the new city.

But to his dismay, these people moved way too slowly, walking a bit and then stopping. At this rate, it would take forever to reach Alcanretia.

That was an enormous waste of time.

"Sir Quest King, we understand what you're saying, but everyone is exhausted. We really can't continue any further."

The caravan leader spoke cautiously.

Kei had just slaughtered dozens of demon wolves by himself. The corpses of those wolves were still piled up nearby, being processed by the caravan members.

With such overwhelming power on display, the leader didn't even dare to outright refuse Kei's suggestion.

"Don't you have stamina potions among your goods? Everyone drinks a bottle, and then we march at full speed."

"I did the math. If we move non-stop, we can reach the destination in two days."

Kei insisted.

"No wonder this guy can complete a hundred quests in three days! He's just too damn dedicated!"

"He doesn't sleep, doesn't eat, just grinds!"

"But what he's saying does make sense. If we get there faster and come back sooner, we'll earn more money."

The crowd began to discuss. Some agreed with Kei's words, while others didn't.

Mostly, the younger members supported Kei's idea, while the older ones sided with the caravan leader.

"Sir Quest King, your proposal is reasonable, but traveling at night makes us vulnerable to attacks from monsters and undead."

"Without sufficient light and preparation, it's hard to deal with such threats."

The leader explained.

Traveling at night would be exhausting, but that was secondary. The caravan members were already used to the harshness of traveling.

The real problem was the monsters lurking in the darkness.

Setting up camp allowed them to prepare all sorts of defensive and anti-demon measures. Moving along the road, however, would expose them to greater danger.

Plus, with the caravan being such a long line of people, any attack would be difficult to defend against.

"Are you underestimating me, leader?"

"Ordinary adventurers might not be capable, but I'm different. You just keep moving forward and leave all the threats to me!"

Kei spoke with absolute confidence.

"Uh..."

The leader hesitated, seeing Kei's unwavering expression. After all, this was the legendary Quest King—

The man who, according to rumors, could hunt monsters non-stop for three days and nights without sleep. He wasn't someone you could compare to regular adventurers.

Perhaps... perhaps everything would be fine.

If they could save a few days of travel time, they could make much more profit!

After considering it, the leader ultimately agreed.

"If something does happen..."

"If something happens, I'll pay you ten times the compensation. If nothing happens, you pay me double the reward. How's that?"

"Deal!"

The leader accepted without hesitation. If something went wrong, he would be compensated tenfold.

If nothing went wrong, saving time would earn them more money. Double the reward wasn't even a big deal.

No matter how he calculated it, he would profit.

"Everyone, keep moving!"

The group began to hustle. With their torches and lamps lit, the long caravan resembled a glowing, radiant dragon snaking across the plains.

Naturally, such a sight quickly attracted the attention of wild beasts and undead.

"I may not be able to send the undead to Heaven, but I can turn them into light particles flying up to the sky!"

Kei declared as he swung his dual blades continuously, flashing from the front of the caravan to the back with incredible speed.

Countless monsters fell under his blades. Throughout the entire night, the caravan was attacked numerous times.

But not a single person was harmed. Every danger was intercepted and eliminated by Kei.

[After a night of fierce combat, your willpower and combat techniques have improved.]

[Through constant battle, your physical attributes have slightly improved.]

[Your Gourmet Cells have slightly advanced from savoring the thrill of battle.]

"Come at me!"

Kei's energy only grew. Each notification was like fresh motivation injected into his body, keeping him pumped up!

By the time morning arrived...

"Damn! We actually made it through the night!"

"The Quest King really is amazing! Last night alone, we were attacked over twenty times."

"Every single time, he showed up in time to kill the monsters!"

"So strong! I guess those rumors weren't exaggerated. The Quest King truly can fight for seven days and nights without rest!"

"No, he's not just a Quest King anymore. We should call him the Legendary Adventurer!"

The younger members of the caravan all idolized Kei. To them, this was what a true adventurer should be.

Traveling alone through the dark wilderness, facing countless monsters without fear, and cutting a bloody path through danger.

This was the essence of true adventuring.

Those losers living in stables, working as laborers, unable to even defeat Giant Frogs, didn't deserve to be called adventurers.

Yes, they were definitely talking about a certain Satou Kazuma and his useless goddess companions.

After escorting them safely to the City of Water and Hot Springs, Kei received his payment and began wandering the city, looking for new quests.

[You completed the escort quest and arrived in Alcanretia. You plan to continue making a name for yourself here.]

[When the merchant caravan returned, the young merchants spread the legend of the Legendary Adventurer, Quest King, Sword Saint far and wide, until his name resounded throughout the entire nation!]

[Legendary Adventurer · Quest King · Sword Saint's Deed #1: During his early days, he completed all available quests by himself, staying awake for seven days and nights, earning the title of Quest King!]

[Legendary Adventurer · Quest King · Sword Saint's Deed #2: He once protected a merchant caravan alone, slashing through hordes of demons and even slaying two or three of the Demon King's generals, earning him the title of "Legendary Adventurer!"]

Though some details were exaggerated, Kei's name had indeed begun to spread far and wide!
