Infinite Potential System

Chapter 483: Floor 15

A blinding light forced William to shield his eyes before he reached the peak of the stairwell. Five steps from the top of the now yellow brick stairs, bright sunlight more intense than the outside world shone down in rays.

Hardly a moment later, William sensed an immense source of vitality. Even when he closed his eyes, his Life Affinity allowed him to see a perfectly spherical aura that reminded him of the Superior Life Veins from back on Efretta.

Of course, the System notified him in advance that this couldn't be absorbed. When he reached the top of the stairs and adjusted to the sunlight, the Bestiary was the one to break the news.

[Bestiary] Sun Stone Golem: +1 PP Experience tales at empire

It was actually a living creature— the Boss of the 15th floor, to be exact. Its body was oddly proportioned, with a perfectly round upper body made of orange-yellow sun stone and a pair of blocky legs with giant marbles for knee joints.

Its face was squarish, and it had no mouth, though for some reason it sported a single unibrow made of the same orange sun stone as the rest of it. It stood motionlessly the entire time, like a thousand-year-old stone statue.

Is it waiting for me to make the first move? Maybe it hasn't noticed me yet.

He was more willing to believe the former, since the Sun Stone Golem's Cultivation was in the early stages of the Initial Deity Realm. This was the limit of the Ascended Cultivation Talent. Any higher and William wouldn't have been able to see through the Magical Beast.

Will used the same technique he used against the Treasure Mimic, enhancing the Starmetal Longsword with the Domain of Fire and closing the distance with Spatial Steps. With an overhead slash, he brought the Starmetal Longsword down towards the base of the Sun Stone Golem's neck.

Everything was done very smoothly, as if he had done it a hundred times even if this was only the second. He watched closely as the sheer speed of his blade created afterimages in the air that each fell on the Sun Stone Golem.

Clang!

An orange forcefield almost exactly like William's own appeared and protected the Sun Stone Golem. The Starmetal Longsword embedded itself in the walls of the forcefield but rebounded backwards after a slight pause.

The residual heat from the blade targeted the forcefield a moment later, but there was no noticeable change to the Sun Stone Golem's stance, nor its forcefield. His attack was useless!

Two slits appeared beneath the Sun Stone Golem's unibrow, a pair of solid yellow eyes opening to look at the tiny attacker. When it saw the Starmetal Longsword, the eyes flickered with surprise momentarily but returned to normal when it noticed the Cultivation Realm of the Longsword's wielder.

Just as quickly as they opened, the Sun Stone Golem's eyes closed once more, hardly taking notice of William. The orange forcefield disappeared, though William knew it would reappear the moment he made another attempt to strike the Boss.

He's not taking me seriously at all! William was slightly annoyed, but he saw this as a good thing.

The less the Sun Stone Golem paid attention to him, the more time William would have to figure out its weaknesses. He temporarily disabled the Domain of Fire and walked around the Sun Stone Golem carefully, inspecting each aspect of its body.

With the Vision Talent, William could see the smallest imperfections in a person or Magical Beast's body. While it usually took too much time to be useful in battle, this was one of the few scenarios where William could actually make full use of the ability.

A chip in the left shoulder, vitality leaking from a small point on the Sun Stone Giant's back... the number of minor problems showed up one after the other. There weren't many, but it was enough for William to get a good idea on how the Sun Stone Giant worked.

If what I'm thinking is true, that thing uses vitality to heal its forcefield quickly. It has so much though, it would take months to break through slowly. My best chance of breaking the forcefield is if I do it in one go.

It's either that or wait until the others reach this place.

The first problem with the latter, though, was that the 14th floor's path to the stairwell was currently blocked. He didn't know how often the floor layout changed, but even if the students managed to navigate the floor in a reasonable amount of time, they'd never reach the Boss without Primary Laws of Space.

Even if they did, I'm not giving up my loot to anyone! I'll take care of this guy today and get a head start on everyone else!

William reopened the Domain of Fire, followed by the Domains of Earth and Space. Together, he layered the three Domains over top of each other and cast away the Mana Particles of all other Elements.

Making use of the concentrated Fire, Earth, and Space Mana, William opened a portal in front of him that exited a few meters above the Sun Stone Golem. This portal wasn't nearly as stable as the one created earlier with the Primary Law of Space, but it would be more than enough for what was to come next.

Fusing Earth and Fire Spells into one, William cast a modified version of the Meteor Spell, sending dozens of medium-sized meteors into the portal that rained down on the Sun Stone Golem.

The forcefield rose up like expected, but the sheer power of William's Magic Spell exceeded what he could achieve with the Starmetal Longsword. After six rounds of the new Meteorite Shower Spell, the Sun Stone Golem's forcefield was covered in cracks and its vitality had decreased ever so slightly.

Not enough damage! William cursed in his mind as he continued to expend his Mana on the same Spell. He refined it further and further with each cast, modifying the shapes of the flaming rocks into giant flaming drills that spun on impact.

The Sun Stone Golem opened its eyes once more at this point and finally decided to take action. It swung its arm overhead, using the forcefield to sweep away the flaming drills with one move.

William wasn't deterred and continued to cast the double-revised Meteorite Drill Shower, forcing the Sun Stone Golem to take a few steps back as its forcefield shattered. The remainder of William's Spell targeted the marble joints in the Golem's arms and legs, embedding themselves in the creature and slowing its movement.

Two more casts and the Sun Stone Golem was forced to drop to one knee, the other shattered at the joint by the flaming rock drills. William's eyes lit up as some sparkly material spread all over the ground, though he didn't yet have the time to pick anything up.

Before William could continue, the room's ambient sunlight rose to another level, then dimmed heavily as rays of sunlight enveloped the damaged Sun Stone Golem.

As if a powerful Cultivator with the Life Affinity had just cast a high-level Spell, the Sun Stone Golem's damage was completely repaired, including the forcefield that William had just broken through.
