Infinite Potential System

William held his right hand in front of his face while scanning his memories for scenes where he may have done the same. His Vision Talent was currently disabled because of the school's Dimension, but it had a Mana Mode that allowed him to perceive things differently based on their Mana Reserve.

Coupled with a 96 times improvement to his vision, William could see his own Mana Circuits without the need of a special Spell like the one that Professor Tenningbrew showcased to the class.

William located an ideal memory of himself from when he was back in the Mortal Realms, a few days after he had just improved the Vision Talent to X-Rank. Back then, he didn't fully understand that what he was looking at were Mana Points and Mana Veins, so it wasn't a big deal.

Now, however, it was a gamechanger.

Something that the Professor had explained during the first day of class was that Mana Circuits are different for everyone. Some Cultivators might have similar Mana Circuits to others, but they would never be completely identical.

This was due to many factors, such as gender, bloodline, Elemental Affinities, and even Innate Talents.

Large families that had a lot of experience manipulating their Mana Circuits have a slight edge over others. The similarities in bloodline made it easier to avoid serious mistakes when manipulating Mana Circuits, allowing them to focus on the other differences.

In addition, powerful Families will have Spells like the one that Tenningbrew used that are passed down from generation to generation, but there was a limit to how effective those were.

For example, according to an explanation from the System, Tenningbrew's current Spell allowed him to see the current locations of his Mana Circuits, as well as any previous locations he had recorded, but it won't show him how efficient they are until the Circuit is considered complete.

If he completed the Mana Circuit incorrectly or less efficiently than the previous attempt, Tenningbrew might waste a lot of time and have to start over from scratch. This was a critical flaw, and who knew how many years it took Tenningbrew to come up with his current Mana Circuit.

This is why William was so impressed with the Vision Talent's Mana Mode. Not only could it see back then what his Mana Circuit was like, it would likely also show in real time whether he was properly or improperly rerouting it.

Combined with his Mana Dominator Talent, William could probably improve his Mana Circuits to a whole new level in a short period of time. That was assuming he could escape his current predicament.

I won't be able to make use of the Vision Talent this time. I can only go off of memory. Since it's like this, I'm no better off than Professor right now.

William thought to himself, but he wasn't bothered.

Between his high comprehension of the Illusion Element, the Element Belt based Riyald's Elemental Dials, the weakened Mana Dominator Talent, and the bonuses from various Titles, William's Illusion Magic could probably conceal him from anyone below the Deity Realm.

If he took the Illusion Elemental form into account, perhaps it would be even stronger. William had yet to test it, so he really didn't know.

Why am I speculating? System, how strong do you think my Illusion Element is right now?

What the hell? Do I really need to spend so much for a simple question?

William declined the offer immediately.

-The strength of your Illusion Element at least reaches into the Ascension level, hence the price.

William almost sighed out loud. Sometimes the Ask Function was a godsend, and other times...

-Hmph!

The System went quiet while William inspected his hand, taking note of each Mana Vein. He memorized their length and direction of travel, opting not to pay attention to anything past his wrist.

Six Mana Veins, that's easy. One leading towards each finger and two on the pinky. Five Veins flowing towards my hand and the extra pinky Vein leads away.

He nodded and started counting the Mana Points.

One, two, three... five...

The more William focused on his memory, the more Mana Points appeared until his hand was a miniature sky of stars.

Fifty, a hundred... two hundred... There's too many!

William stopped counting and blurred his focus until he could only see the largest and brightest Mana Points.

I'll do two for each Vein. That should be enough.

William decided.

There were two Mana Points on the thumb, one near its base. The other Point was located at the corner of his nail and faced his index finger.

On the patch of skin between his thumb and index finger was a third Mana Point, while the fourth was matching the second point, positioned on the corner of his index finger's nail and facing his thumb like a mirror image.

The fifth and sixth Mana Points were positioned one on the center of his palm and the other slightly offset from it. The seventh Mana Point was on the side of his hand just below the thumb, while the eighth was on the back of his hand.

The next two were located on William's little finger, while his middle and ring finger each had one Mana Point.

William used the Earth Element to create bits of mud that stuck to the locations of each of the twelve largest Mana Points and went back to reviewing his memories. A few minutes later, six thin trails of clay ran down his hand in the same manner that the Mana Veins did, his hand becoming a clear picture that he could make better sense of. Phew!

William wiped sweat from his brow and leaned back in his chair while his open palm hovered in front of him. Reaching into his own memories and looking at a single moment in time was incredibly taxing. Not only did he need to locate the specific memory, but he also needed to concentrate on preventing the memory from moving forward.

While William relaxed, he was careful not to let the hand rub against anything, so he wouldn't need to recreate the clay and mud bits. While it would be easier to visit a recent memory, it would take more mental strength from him than he was willing to use.

Now what do I do? I've seen my Mana Circuits, but how do I improve them?

William thought to himself.

According to the Professor, one simply had to shift things around until it felt right. It took a great deal of time, talent, and practice. But if this was the case, how was Professor Tenningbrew so confident that the entire class would be able to improve their Mana Circuits by the end of the school year?

He looked at Mikaela, whose hand had been restored a few minutes ago. Her head was tilted downwards, seemingly focused on some dirt in her freshly grown nails. Other than her recent... accident, she seemed to be the most successful of the students so far. It only took her a few days to make noticeable progress.

"Hey." William leaned towards the girl with chestnut hair.

Mikaela didn't even shift her eyes, asking her next question as if it was a statement, "What do you want."

"Ah, nothing in particular." William returned to his original position and tilted his head back until he was staring at the ceiling.

Mikaela didn't respond. She went back to checking her nails without a second thought.

William turned impatient after a few minutes of silence, "So about the Spell you used... Your Mana Circuits must have—"

"So this is about my Mana Circuits! I fucking knew it!" Mikaela huffed in exasperation. William's sudden behavior was already suspicious enough, so it was obvious that he wanted something from her.

William didn't take Mikaela's outburst seriously, "I just started working on my Mana Circuits today, so I haven't figured out how to improve them yet."

"Huh?" Mikaela wondered if William had really earned a top ten spot in the entrance exam or not. How could a student of one of the most prestigious Academies not pay attention on the first day?

She looked at the irritating male student, scanning his expression for any signs of insincerity. After a long pause, she heaved a sigh and handed William a blue and black notebook from her Space Ring.

"Open it to the second page, it's straight from Professor Tenningbrew's first lecture. There's even pictures, perfect for idiots like you."

William nodded and did as he was told, despite the insult to his intelligence. He was already used to the System's nonsense, so nothing Mikaela could say would bother him.

On the second page were neatly drawn notes that gave general definitions of Mana Points and Mana Veins, below which was a medium-sized diagram of the human body. It perfectly matched the diagram that Tenningbrew had drawn on the first day, with additional blue and green color coding to represent the difference between Mana Veins and Points.
