Chapter 409: 409: New Chaos Sect Leader!
Grevor lifted his head, casting Orson a venomous glare. With a cold laugh, he said, "I was chosen by the Light God to be His emissary walking the world. Who do you think you are, to have me serve you as my master?"
"I'm no one special, just someone who can take your life whenever I want," Orson replied, a smirk creeping onto his face.
Grevor wasn't particularly strong at the moment, but once he completed the soul fusion and became a Four-Winged Archangel, he would be a legitimate Demi-God Supreme. Earlier, even though he couldn't use the Demi-God Laws, he and the Crimson Lizard King were still being suppressed by the Archangel.
If it weren't for Veijander, Orson might already have been slain by Jenonis.
An ancient parchment floated in front of Grevor.
Grevor sneered, "You think you've got it all figured out, but it won't go the way you want. The soul of the Archangel is merging with mine, and the Archangel represents the will of the gods!"
"You think I'm one to waste time?" Orson smiled faintly. The Crimson Lizard King stepped out from the space rift, her bone sword pressed to Grevor's neck.
"Submit!"
The Crimson Lizard King exuded an overwhelming aura, her face becoming clearer as the black mist around her faded slightly. Orson turned to look at her, his eyes widening in surprise.
She had a cold, regal demeanor, her skin pale like frost. Her long black hair cascaded down her waist, and her slender, elegant form was wrapped in black armor. Her ruby-like eyes emitted an alluring yet commanding aura, filled with a chilling, murderous energy.
Holy shit!
A dragon can look like this?
Orson's gaze instinctively wandered to the Crimson Lizard King's neck, his sharp insight as a top-tier mage taking over. It wasn't intentional, just an automatic response.
"Well, well! I thought the terrifying Freya from Pondenorlin City was bad enough, but now there's an even scarier one!"
Orson's mind raced as he realized that even the mighty Dragon Master had been startled by his own employee.
The Crimson Lizard King sensed his thoughts, glancing at him with a slight blush on her pale cheek.
A sigh echoed in Orson's mind, and then, with a wave of her hand, the black mist once again obscured her features.
"Is she rejecting me? Am I not allowed to look?" Orson was stunned.
He coughed awkwardly, feeling a bit embarrassed. He had initially planned to use the master-servant contract to force the Crimson Lizard King to remove the "mosaic" over her figure, but then decided against it.
After all, as a kind-hearted capitalist, how could he have bad intentions toward his own employees?
Grevor: "Mortal, you won't succeed. The master-servant contract cannot control me."
"Let's see about that." Orson's eyes narrowed, and he pushed the master-servant contract toward Grevor's face.
Grevor grinned coldly, pressing his bloody handprint onto it.
Orson felt a sharp pain in his chest as a prompt rang in his ears.
"You have desecrated the will of the Light God. Experience points reduced by 10%."
His experience bar dropped significantly, and Orson frowned, noticing Grevor's smirk as he pressed the contract again.
"Get lost, you thief! Stealing my experience?" Orson cursed, pulling the master-servant contract back.
According to the records on the world's ancient stone tablets, the Light God wasn't just one deity. The one with a human body and bird wings was called Aurora Goddess, Monanna.
The various angels in the heavenly kingdom were her creations.
Monanna, one of the creators of Infinite Dimensions, had sent Jenonis, the Four-Winged Archangel, to represent her divine will.
Although the master-servant contract was one of the highest laws in Infinite Dimensions, it couldn't override the game's rules. Trying to enslave the will of a creator god using this contract was nothing but a dream.
Orson sighed in frustration and gave up.
"Mortal, fulfill your mission, and I will forgive your past deeds," Grevor said smugly, believing he had Orson in his grasp.
Orson turned away, shrugging. "The masses are but pawns of the gods. I can't escape the rules of Infinite Dimensions, so I will have to accept the Legendary-Tier quest to guard the Golden Pillar."
Grevor: "At least you're not beyond saving."
"But did I ever say I was going to spare you?"
Suddenly, Orson's expression changed, and he grinned wickedly at Grevor. "Since you're merging with the Archangel's soul, if I kill you, I'll slay a Demi-God. That's a huge win for me."
"No! He's only been deceived by the Archangel. Please spare him!" Flame Fosset spoke up with a worried expression.
"Oh? What do you mean?" Orson turned to his master brother, intrigued.
Flame Fosset explained, "Grevor was raised by me to become the next Chaos Sect Leader. But after he found the Tiamat Chaos Cauldron!, he became the target of the Light Church, who elevated him to become the Light God's Envoy."
Flame Fosset had planned to use Grevor as a tool to avenge the Golden Dragons by slaughtering the Chaos Cultists. But things went awry when the Holy Light Dragon King, Tulikiki, used a Forbidden Curse to summon Jenonis from the heavenly kingdom, forcibly binding her soul with Grevor's.
On the surface, it looked like a soul fusion, but in reality, the power gap was too vast. The fusion turned into a one-sided soul devouring. The real goal was to control the Tiamat Chaos Cauldron!, a broken Godly Relic.
Flame Fosset sighed, heartbroken. Despite Grevor's deceitful and underhanded ways, he couldn't bear to see him killed by Orson.
Flame Fosset: "The soul fusion is not complete. If we can find the Divine Item: Starry Soul, we can break the fusion."
Flame Fosset: "As a reward, the position of Chaos Sect Leader will be yours!"
Orson waved his hand frantically. "No! I beg you, stop..."
"Congratulations, you have become the Chaos Sect Leader!"
Orson froze, a dark red title flashing above his head: Chaos Sect Leader. It looked impressively intimidating.
Title: Chaos Sect Leader
Effect: Increases your understanding of the basic elemental magics of Wind, Fire, Water, Earth, Light, and Darkness.
Reduces the cost of upgrading these basic magics by 50%.
Removes the level requirements for upgrading magic.
"You have obtained the ability to control the Chaos Sect's followers!"
"You can now declare war on other cults outside of dungeons."
"You have gained control over 3 Chaos Temples!"
"Current Chaos Cultists: 2178."
"You can now build your own statues, and your followers' fervent faith will grant you Faith Points."
"The more followers who believe in Chaos Sect, the faster you will gain Faith Points."
The notifications kept coming, and Orson was stunned. This title was incredibly useful.
Now, as long as he had enough skill points and gold, he could even max out Forbidden Curse to level 10, a feat that would normally take at least a year of grinding.
The Faith Value store opened.
"Faith Value Store..."
Orson's screen revealed a new option: Faith Store, and he nearly choked on his breath when he saw the prices.
[Divine Soul Seal Series]
[Divine Soul Seal: God: Seraphim Wings]
Effect: Unknown
Price: 30 million Faith Points
[Divine Item Series: Ancient Divine Item - Sky King Star Battleship]
Effect: Unknown
Price: 270 million Faith Points
Orson's jaw dropped. These items were outrageous! Even Divine Soul Seals were available.
His Faith Points: 14,000.
This was the "inheritance" that Flame Fosset had left him.
Even the worst Ancient Relic or a set of Forbidden Magic jewelry designs would require millions of Faith Points.
But if he could expand the Chaos Sect and attract millions of players as followers… someday, he might be able to afford it.
Orson felt a little better after that thought.
Then came another message:
"You have inherited a debt of 52.2 million gold coins from Chaos Sect's 1700 years of history."
"You must pay off all debts before you can accept new followers and gain the right to preach."
Orson's smile instantly froze, and he turned to glare at Flame Fosset.
"Over 50 million in debt?!"
Flame Fosset patted him on the shoulder with a gleam of trust in his eyes.
"From now on, Chaos Sect is all yours! My good disciple, it's a heavy responsibility ahead!"
Orson's face turned green with rage.
"I'm going to chop that old bastard into pieces!"
