Chapter 151: 151 BGM
The High Victory Sword was not Lefiya's magic, but rather the magic of Riveria, the vice-captain of the Loki Familia and the strongest mage in Orario. However, Lefiya's [Fairy Ring] allowed her to directly use the magic of other elves, meaning she could wield all the spells Riveria was capable of.
This was also why Riveria had designated her as her successor.
A towering inferno erupted, completely engulfing the massive body of the dragon Cadmus and dealing tremendous damage. From within the flames came Cadmus's agonized roars, though it didn't die just yet.
"Lefiya, one more time!" Finn commanded, his eyes fixed on Cadmus.
"Yes, sir!"
"Wait a moment."
Altair raised a hand, interrupting Lefiya just as she was about to begin her chant.
"Mr. Altair?" Lefiya looked at him, puzzled.
"I'll give you a buff," Altair said with a grin, activating his skill [BGM Warrior].
A melody suddenly filled the air on the 51st floor, audible to every member of the Loki Familia.
"What's this?" Finn turned to Altair, confused. He knew this strange, sudden tune was Altair's doing, but… how? And why?
"Mr. Altair, this is—!" Lefiya and Ais had once ventured into the dungeon with Altair and another companion. Back then, Altair had played Freesia, and their friend, a mere LV1, had slain Goliath single-handedly. Lefiya remembered the sensation of overwhelming power coursing through her, so she understood—this was Altair enhancing them.
"Start chanting!" Altair ordered.
"Yes, sir!"
As Lefiya began her chant, the music's rhythm grew faster and more intense. To the others, it felt as though some grand figure was about to make an entrance.
[BGMuincy'scraft]
[Buff Crescendo]
[Effect: When this BGM is active, all allied units within range, including the caster, will have the attack power of their chanted spells doubled.]
This BGM hailed from the world of the Reapers, first appearing when a certain archer debuted. Its urgent tempo carried the unmistakable air of a major character's arrival. Later, it accompanied the Reapers' chants of their spells, so this buff likely drew its power from that same energy.
"Soon, the flames shall be unleashed!"
"Silently advancing warfire, unavoidable destruction."
"The horns of battle resound boldly, encircling all in tyrannical chaos."
"Come forth, crimson flames, merciless blaze, thou art the incarnation of hellfire, sweeping aside thousands of foes, bringing an end to grand wars."
"Burn all to ash, Sword of Surtr—my name is Alf!"
"High Victory Sword!"
With the BGM's enhancement, Lefiya completed her chant. A massive red magic circle appeared beneath Cadmus once more. This time, the flames were even more terrifying, surging skyward and illuminating a vast area around them.
"No way, this is Lefiya's magic?" Tiona exclaimed. She'd been the closest to Cadmus earlier, taking hits in place of Bete, who'd been knocked away. Though she'd retreated, she was still near enough to feel the oppressive heat washing over her—so intense that she swore the tips of her hair were starting to singe.
"This power… it's stronger than Riveria's!" Finn said, astonished, glancing at Altair. Altair merely offered a faint smile in response.
Was it because of that music?
Finn didn't voice the question, but he was certain of it. Despite being only LV2, Altair possessed such a potent skill. Combined with his ability to grant power through mere words, he was the ultimate support any major familia would dream of. He didn't need to fight or carry supplies—just bring him along on an expedition, let him play a tune and say a few words, and victory was all but assured. Too convenient.
Unfortunately, he belonged to someone else's familia.
It seemed they'd need to strengthen their alliance with the Hestia Familia moving forward, Finn resolved silently. On the battlefield, Cadmus had been reduced to ashes. The enhanced second casting of High Victory Sword had finished off the already-wounded dragon, leaving behind a pile of cinders and a massive magic stone.
"Alright, Bete, go collect the spring water. Everyone else, recover in place," Finn instructed.
"Got it."
Bete, having chugged potions to recover, dashed off with a specialized flask to gather the spring water. The Loki Familia's commission for this expedition was now complete.
"Once Bete's done collecting the water, we'll head straight to the 52nd floor to begin exploring the [Dragon's Urn]. Understood?"
"Understood!"
While Bete worked alone to gather the water—a task that didn't take long, but gave the high-level adventurers enough time to rest and down recovery potions—the others took a breather. For them, chugging potions during a dungeon expedition was routine. It was just how things were.
Some of the group, still recovering, crowded around Lefiya, peppering her with questions. That final spell had been so overwhelmingly powerful, surpassing even their image of Riveria, the familia's top mage.
When Bete returned with the filled flask, Finn took it and handed it to Altair.
"Thanks for your help, Mr. Altair."
"No problem."
Altair casually stowed it in his spatial pocket.
"Let's move out!"
With the flask secured, Finn gave the order. The group quickly rallied and pressed deeper into the dungeon, their sights set on the 52nd floor. They weren't there yet.
The remaining monsters on the 51st floor paled in comparison to Cadmus, the spring's guardian. Though each still boasted LV6 strength, they weren't all decked out in physical armor that rendered them impervious to attacks.
Of course, Lefiya's magic continued to shine. According to Finn, during their last expedition, Lefiya couldn't even complete a full chant—she'd been too timid. But now, she could unleash spells with precision as needed.
This was all thanks to the [Lefiya User Manual] Altair had provided. Lately, though, Loki had been a bit grumpy. Her precious Ais had been monopolized by Lefiya—at Riveria's request, no less—and Loki's protests had fallen on deaf ears.
Unbeknownst to Ais, she'd been showering Lefiya with affection during this time, boosting the elf's confidence. Lefiya was growing increasingly convinced that the better she performed, the closer Ais would become to her.
Altair was oblivious to this dynamic and unaware of whether Lefiya might warp under this training regimen, perhaps even turning into a yandere. After all, this kind of nurturing could easily produce one, couldn't it?
The elite squad pressed on, swiftly clearing the 51st floor. They encountered a few monsters along the way but dealt with them efficiently. After traversing the level, they reached the 52nd floor, stepping into the ultra-difficult [Dragon's Urn].
