The Next Morning – Makunouchi Residence

The morning sun cast a warm glow over the Makunouchi residence as Alex stood outside, helping Aunt Hiroko plant the new flowers she had bought. The soft scent of fresh soil and blooming petals filled the air as the three of them—Alex, Ippo, and Hiroko—worked together in the small garden outside their home.

Alex, dressed in a casual white t-shirt and black sweatpants, dug a small hole in the soil and placed a flower inside before patting the dirt down. He glanced at Hiroko, who was humming to herself as she carefully arranged the plants.

"You're really happy doing this, huh, Aunt Hiroko?" Alex remarked with a slight smile.

Hiroko looked up, her expression warm. "Yeah. I don't have a lot of things to do in the house these days, so I find this really enjoyable."

Ippo, who was kneeling nearby, adjusting another flower pot, nodded. "It's peaceful, isn't it?"

Alex wiped some dirt off his hands and stretched his arms before looking toward the backyard. "How about we make a house garden over there?" he suggested, pointing to the open space.

Hiroko shook her head immediately. "That's too much trouble, and it must be expensive. Besides, it doesn't really fit the space."

Alex smirked. "Then I'll just buy the neighbor's house, demolish it, and make a proper garden."

Ippo chuckled and added, "Yeah, and I can buy a tractor too while we're at it."

Hiroko let out a small laugh but then gave the two a concerned look. "Isn't that too expensive? I know you boys are earning money now, but I want you both to save it for your future—especially you, Alex." She paused before giving him a knowing smile. "You have a girlfriend now. You might want to settle down with her one day."

Alex raised an eyebrow but then shrugged. "Don't worry about the money, Aunt Hiroko. To be honest, I could buy you a mansion right now and still have enough saved for the future."

Hiroko's eyes widened in shock. Even Ippo paused and turned to look at Alex, surprised by how casually he said it.

After a few moments, Hiroko let out a soft sigh, then smiled. "If you say so… Then, let's do it."

Alex smirked and nodded. "Alright, we'll start planning later."

With their morning gardening session finished, Alex and Ippo cleaned up before getting ready to head to the gym.

 Later That Day 

Alex and Ippo arrived at Kamogawa Gym, pulling up in Alex's 1991 Porsche 911. The sleek, black sports car came to a smooth stop just outside the entrance, catching the attention of a few gym members.

As the two stepped inside, the familiar sounds of heavy bags being struck and jump ropes whipping against the floor filled the air.

Coach Kamogawa noticed them immediately and called out, "Alex, you're just in time! I have good news for you."

Alex smirked as he walked toward the center of the gym, taking off his sunglasses. "Oh? Let me guess…" He paused and grinned. "Did Aoki finally get a girlfriend?"

Aoki, who was in the middle of punching a sandbag, froze mid-swing. "Oi! Why am I getting roasted first thing in the morning?!"

Kimura burst out laughing. "Because it's true!"

Even Ippo couldn't help but chuckle.

Coach Kamogawa shook his head with a sigh before looking at Aoki. "For you to get a girlfriend, Aoki, we'd need a miracle."

The entire gym erupted in laughter as Aoki turned red. "Oi! Coach, you too?!"

After a few moments, the laughter died down, and Kamogawa's expression turned serious.

"Alright, enough joking around. Let's get to the real reason I called you here." He crossed his arms and looked at Alex. "I secured your next fight."

Ippo's eyes widened. "Wow! Is it another title defense?"

Assistant Coach Yagi stepped forward with a big smile. "Even better."

Coach Kamogawa took a deep breath before revealing the news.

"We got you into the world rankings. You'll be fighting the number five-ranked lightweight in the world—Sharmba Mitchell."

Alex's eyes narrowed slightly, and a smirk formed on his lips.

"Sharmba Mitchell, huh…?"

Ippo, Kimura, and even Aoki looked stunned. A world-ranked opponent? This was a huge step forward.
