Chapter 10: Sexy and Beautiful Su Mengxin
Ye Chen watched the woman sleep peacefully and decided not to wake her. Instead, he went to check on the mercenaries. When he arrived, he found them all dead, each with a wound on their neck. Everything was still in place except for the bald man—he was nowhere to be found.
Examining the ground, Ye Chen noticed fresh footprints. It seemed the bald man's accomplice had come and taken him away. Judging by the depth and direction of the tracks, they had been gone for over twenty minutes. They must have gotten far by now. Ye Chen considered chasing them but ultimately decided against it—he still had to guard the woman. Besides, if they had any sense left, they wouldn't dare cross him again.
With that decision made, Ye Chen turned back toward the tree where the woman was sleeping.
"Oh, I almost forgot my roast chicken," he muttered to himself.
Retracing his steps, he found the chicken still untouched, spared from wild animals. Relieved, he picked it up and made his way back to the tree. Climbing up, he saw the woman still asleep, her expression serene. Ignoring her for the moment, Ye Chen focused on his food. Sitting down, he tore off a chicken thigh and began eating hungrily.
Just then, the woman's eyelashes fluttered slightly before she slowly opened her eyes. She blinked a few times, taking in her surroundings. Finally, her gaze landed on Ye Chen, who was devouring his meal with enthusiasm.
"Who are you?" she asked, her voice soft yet cautious.
Ye Chen, caught mid-bite, turned toward her. His face froze for a moment. The blanket that had been covering her had slipped down, revealing her exposed chest. Quickly averting his gaze, he felt an awkward tension settle between them.
The woman frowned at his silence. Annoyed, she repeated more firmly, "Hey, I'm asking you a question!"
Ahem… Before anything else, cover yourself. I can see everything clearly," Ye Chen said, his voice calm but firm.
The woman froze for a second before finally realizing what he meant. Her face turned red as she let out a panicked scream.
"Ahhh!" she shrieked, quickly grabbing the blanket and pulling it over herself.
"Turn around! I need to cover up properly," she ordered, glaring at Ye Chen.
Ye Chen smirked slightly. "Heh, I've already seen everything. What's the point of hiding now? Oops…" He immediately regretted letting that slip.
"Pervert! Turn around, now!" she snapped, her eyes burning with fury.
Seeing her murderous glare, Ye Chen quickly turned away. As he did, he muttered to himself, "The books I've read were right… never provoke a woman, especially a beautiful one."
That thought led him to another realization. If a mere mortal woman reacted this strongly, what would happen if he ever angered a powerful goddess? Wouldn't he be instantly obliterated? No wonder his teacher had sent him to Earth instead of the God Realm.
Behind him, the rustling of fabric signaled that she was getting dressed. After a moment, her voice came again, this time calmer.
"It's done. You can turn around now."
Ye Chen turned back to see the woman wrapped tightly in the blanket, wearing it like a towel. Her undergarments were neatly folded in her hands.
He couldn't help but glance at them, and before she could scold him, their eyes met. She had been preparing to yell, but something made her hesitate.
Her heart pounded unexpectedly.
Su Mengxin had grown up in a world of wealth and power, surrounded by countless handsome men. Yet, compared to Ye Chen, they all seemed utterly insignificant.
Seeing the woman's slightly dazed expression, Ye Chen hesitated before calling out, "Miss, are you alright?"
His voice pulled her out of her thoughts. She blinked a few times before responding, her cheeks tinged with red. "Sorry, I was a little lost in thought."
"It's fine," Ye Chen said with a small nod. An awkward silence settled between them, neither knowing what to say next.
Wanting to break the tension, the woman finally spoke. "Thank you… for saving me from those people."
"It was nothing. People should help each other when they can," Ye Chen replied casually. Then, after a brief pause, he added, "By the way, what's your name?"
The woman straightened slightly. "My name is Su Mengxin. And you?"
"Su Mengxin… So, Miss Su, my name is Ye Chen. Nice to meet you." Ye Chen extended his hand toward her in greeting.
Su Mengxin glanced at his outstretched hand before shaking her head lightly. "No need to be so formal. Just call me Su Mengxin." Then, with a teasing glint in her eyes, she added, "You're quite the gentleman for someone who just saw—" She stopped herself, cheeks flushing even more.
Ye Chen chuckled. "Then I'll call you Sister Su Mengxin." He flashed her a warm smile.
Her face turned as red as an apple. For reasons she couldn't quite understand, she felt strangely drawn to Ye Chen. However, her pride wouldn't allow her to admit it.
Noticing her flushed expression, Ye Chen suddenly grew concerned. "Are you feeling unwell? Could the aphrodisiac still be affecting you?"
At his words, Su Mengxin's face burned even hotter. Even though she had been under the drug's influence, she still remembered how Ye Chen had taken care of her. He had seen almost every part of her body, and while he hadn't taken advantage of her, the memory alone was enough to make her feel mortified.
She lowered her gaze and muttered, her voice barely above a whisper, "Please… just forget what you saw."
Ye Chen barely caught her words but nodded anyway. "Alright."
He didn't want to make the situation even more uncomfortable. But in reality, forgetting what had happened—or what he had seen—was easier said than done
