It was then that the Red Child noticed that the girl was actually wearing a Kasaya!
But the intelligence quotient of someone in love is never high, let alone for a youngster!
So, he didn't think too deeply and assumed she was a nun in temporary vows. He added, "Remember, find her and have her bring you here, got it?"
The pig-headed monster brightened at the instruction, recalling the usual ways of his king. By "bring," didn't that mean to threaten and abduct by force? Simple! He knew the area and method well!
With a smile, he said, "Great King, I understand! You have a crush, right? No wonder you had us clean the cave, you're setting up a bridal chamber!"
The Red Child's face turned red instantly, and he snapped, "Since you understand, stop the chatter and hurry up and find her for me!"
The pig-headed monster, receiving the order, rushed out heading straight toward the depths of the mountain to find the so-called beauty.
Meanwhile, at Tang Sanzang's location...
"Gurgle..."
Tang Sanzang patted his stomach and looked up at the midday sun, muttering, "Time for lunch."
As he spoke, a pig monster charged towards him. Upon seeing Tang Sanzang, the monster paused, then scrutinized him closely before pointing and shouting, "That white-haired person in the Kasaya over there! Come with me!"
Tang Sanzang was fine until he heard the last part, his eyes then turned fierce, "Little piglet, what did you say?"
The pig monster retorted, "Hey, who are you calling little piglet? If it weren't for our king fancying you, do you believe I would stew you?!"
"The previous one wanted to grab me but at least did it personally. You, on the other hand, send either children or little piglets. Isn't this disrespect? You're not even treating me as a person!"
Tang Sanzang was furious.
The pig monster said, "What are you mumbling about? Hurry up and come with me, our king is waiting!"
"I'm waiting for your grandma's leg!"
Tang Sanzang threw a punch...
The next moment...
A bonfire blazed on the top of the mountain, and a four-meter-tall man was roasting a delicious big wild boar, occasionally slicing off a piece of meat to share with Tang Sanzang, Sun Wukong, and the White Dragon Horse. Then he would ask, "Second Brother, are you sure you won't have a bite?"
"I won't!" Zhu Ganglie grunted.
Sun Wukong laughed, "You were just born to a sow, you're not actually a pig. Honestly, this pork is delicious!"
The White Dragon Horse suggested, "Second Brother, how about a pig's ear?"
"Buzz off!" Zhu Ganglie instinctively protected his own ears and his piggy eyes sneakily glanced at Tang Sanzang.
He refrained from pork partly because of kinship but more so because he feared that once Tang Sanzang got a taste, he might start fancying him!
Tang Sanzang, however, was too occupied to bother about him, as he muttered, "Why are the monsters on this mountain so outrageous?
They either send a child to trick me or a pig head with barely a few years of practice to boss me around.
"They don't regard us as human beings!"
When Sun Wukong heard this, he also got angry, "Master, to tell the truth, this is the first time I've encountered such an arrogant demon in all my life."
Sha Wujing said, "Elder Brother, if you want to know what kind of demon it is and why it is so arrogant, isn't it simple? Just summon the mountain god and land god to ask them."
Sun Wukong thought about it and then took out Jingu Bang and tapped it on the ground, "Earth gods of this place, appear before Old Sun immediately!"
With that tap, it was as if he had hit right where the land and mountain gods were nesting, and whoosh, sixty land and mountain gods burst forth!
The point is, the attire of these mountain gods and land gods was more tattered than the next, one could say they hardly covered their bodies—some draped in a piece of cloth, some hanging a cloth patch, some with no crotch, and some even without trousers. If they hadn't sprung from the ground, Tang Sanzang and the others would have suspected they were beggars.
Zhu Ganglie exclaimed, "My goodness, this mountain isn't that big, but there sure are a lot of mountain gods and land gods! You're not from nearby mountains coming to con food, are you?"
Sun Wukong also said, "Old Sun has seen many land gods before, but to see land gods in such poverty, you are the first!"
A disciple dressed in only a piece of cloth stepped forward mournfully and said, "Great Saint, we are the mountain gods and land gods of Mount Number Six Hundred."
After finishing their words, the land and mountain gods just stood there stunned, staring straight at where Tang Sanzang with oils dripping from his mouth as he ate. After a while, they collectively rubbed their eyes...
A young land god couldn't help but ask, "Is meat-eating now allowed on Mount Ling?"
Sun Wukong knew this matter couldn't be cleared up in a short time and hastily changed the subject, "Don't worry about that, I'm asking you, why are there so many mountain gods and land gods here?"
The gods replied, "Great Saint, this mountain is called Mount Number Six Hundred. Here there is one mountain god every ten miles, one land god every ten miles, so there are thirty mountain gods, thirty land gods. Today, upon hearing the Great Saint had arrived, we wanted to come out to greet you, but there were too many of us, and it took a while to gather, which is why we arrived late, please forgive us, Great Saint."
Sun Wukong waved his hand, "Forgiven, forgiven... I ask you, how many demons are there on this mountain?"
Upon hearing this, the gods almost cried, "Oh Grandpa, there's only one demon on this mountain, and it nearly drained us dry. Look at us, now bare of clothes and starved of food, barely alive. How many demons... if there were a few more, we would just smash ourselves to death."
Sun Wukong then asked, "Where does this demon live?"
The gods replied, "There is a streamlet in this mountain, called Withered Pine Streamlet, next to which there is a cave called Fiery Cloud Cave. Inside that cave lives a demon king, with great divine skills, who often captures us mountain gods and land gods, lights a fire on our heads, and then uses us as lanterns.
"Those lesser demons are even worse—they pester us for money every few days.
"Sorrowfully, our own offerings have been cut off due to their mischief, where would we get money for them? We can only catch pelts and deers as substitutes.
"And that's not the worst of it. When they encounter the ruthless ones who do not accept these, it's inevitable that our temples get smashed, our clothes stripped off, and we are paraded around the mountains, making our lives unbearable.
"Now that the Great Saint has arrived, please help us eliminate this demon and save the creatures on this mountain."
Sun Wukong frowned and said, "This demon has indeed gone too far, what is his name?"
The gods replied, "Speaking of this demon, Great Saint, you should know him. He is the son of the Bull Demon King, his milk name is Red Boy, known as the Saint Infant King! He has cultivated in Flame Mountain for over three hundred years, mastering the Samadhi True Fire, and his divine skills are not small. It was the Bull Demon King who stationed him here in Mount Number Six Hundred."
"Wukong, who asked you to ask that? Focus on the main point!," Tang Sanzang could no longer bear it and urgently interjected.
Sun Wukong quickly asked, "Is there a she-demon riding a red cloud on this mountain?"
At this, Tang Sanzang, who had been eating meat, immediately stopped, turned his ear, and stretched his neck to listen.
