Chapter 19 Battle with Tianpeng
Hearing Lu Yu's reply, Liu Qingyun immediately let go of his worries and let out a thunderous roar, his robust mana exploding, instantly parting the waters of the Celestial River around him, creating a not-so-small whirlpool.
The onrushing Celestial River Naval Forces were instantly thrown into disarray, unable to stand their ground. Taking out his Silver Spear, Liu Qingyun's fighting spirit surged, as he hadn't experienced such a hearty and exhilarating battle in a long while. Experience exclusive tales on empire
With an unstoppable momentum, Liu Qingyun killed his way into the midst of the naval forces, single-handedly keeping the multitude of naval heavenly soldiers at bay. His spear moved like a dragon, sweeping across all directions, and no soldier could match him in combat. At the height of the battle, stars shone grandly upon him, and it seemed as though a Silver Spear manifested behind him.
"Destroyer Star? Aren't we fighting against the subordinates of that Star Lord?" someone asked, puzzled.
Liu Qingyun's style of combat and the vision it evoked were indeed reminiscent of the Destroyer Star Lord's style. If it were not for the fact that Liu Qingyun possessed a fleshly body, they might really have hesitated to attack, after all, that Star Lord was not known for his benevolence, and his followers were all war maniacs.
It was indeed no wonder they mistook his identity; Liu Qingyun was originally a Heavenly Star-ordained warrior, who, had nothing gone wrong, should have enjoyed a lifetime of glory and wealth before his soul ascended and was taken under the wing of the Destroyer Star Lord.
However, Lu Yu unexpectedly emerged, and now Liu Qingyun had completed the task of the Destroyer Star, resulting in a neutralization of karma. Having successfully completed the Heavenly Gate Foundation Establishment, he was already out of the Star Lord's reach.
Of course, if Liu Qingyun himself wished to join the Destroyer Star Lord, the latter would likely be delighted to accept him, as after all, this was a seedling of the Celestial Immortal Dao, with a boundless future ahead.
Liu Qingyun fought with increasing fervor, his Silver Spear like a stormy wind and rain descending from the Nine Heavens, scattering the Celestial River Naval Forces in disarray.
Tianpeng sat irritably aboard the tower ship, feeling strangely off recently, beset by an inexplicable annoyance, as if an unnamed fury was accumulating in his heart, desperately needing release.
Just then, a naval heavenly soldier hurried in, reporting, "Reporting to the Marshal, the intruders outside are too strong, and our brothers can no longer hold them off."
At this, Tianpeng flew into a rage, "What a bunch of useless trash, you can't even beat two smugglers, you've lost all face for the Celestial River Naval Forces!" He kicked away the heavenly soldier with one foot and picked up the nine-toothed rake that was by his side and stepped off the tower ship.
As he exited the tower ship, he saw Liu Qingyun pushing back the Celestial River Naval Forces single-handedly, his unnamed anger rising. He roared at the heavenly soldiers steering the ship, "Set sail, crash into that smuggler and kill him."
The heavenly soldiers looked at Tianpeng in surprise, seemingly astonished by his decision, having never seen their marshal react this way before. Today's behavior felt a little off, but even so, they still carried out the order and steered the tower ship towards Liu Qingyun.
However, as the massive tower ship was about to reach Liu Qingyun, a blue figure instantly appeared in front of the ship—it was Lu Yu, who had been watching the battle.
Lu Yu, standing in front of Liu Qingyun, lightly braced against the tower ship with one hand. Huge waves parted from his sides and the oncoming waves were swept to the surroundings, instantly halting the ship's advance. Everyone stared dumbfounded at this scene, those who patrolled the river for a long time had never seen such a personage.
Lu Yu, however, did not cease his actions. The Great Dao Treasure Vase flew out, and the people on the building boat felt the scenery before their eyes change, only to find that the entire building boat seemed to have entered a mysterious place, below was a vast sea of churning waves imbued with a mysterious aura.
When the building boat had just touched the surface of the sea, everyone felt as if the boat had lost its buoyancy, sinking rapidly into the sea at a tremendous speed. The splashing water struck them, hitting their bodies like stones, causing them physical pain.
Looking up, they saw a familiar face that seemed to occupy the entire sky—it was the stowaway who had blocked their building boat earlier. He appeared to be examining a bottle, and they were inside that bottle, a realization that made their scalps tingle and their bodies tremble uncontrollably.
"Roar, break open for me!" Tianpeng bellowed, his mana surging throughout his body, his nine-toothed rake emitting a dazzling light as he struck towards the body of the vase, and then, to the naval heavenly soldiers' surprise, they found themselves back on the Celestial River, once again seeing the stowaway holding the Treasure Vase.
Lu Yu let out a slight sigh. He had just tested the capabilities of the Treasure Vase, which were very good, but unfortunately the material of the vase was not strong enough. If Tianpeng's strike had hit the vase just now, it might have damaged it, so he released the building boat immediately, causing Tianpeng's built-up strike to miss.
"You cunning thief, you indeed have some skills. No wonder you dare to wreak havoc in my Celestial River Naval Forces," Tianpeng said angrily, brandishing his nine-toothed rake and charging at Lu Yu. Lu Yu was not willing to show weakness either, drawing his Treasured Sword to block Tianpeng's assault.
A massive wave of energy emanated from the two of them at the center, dispersing in all directions, stirring up towering waves. The huge building boat swayed in these giant waves as if it were a solitary leaf on the water.
The heavenly soldiers hurried to stabilize the boat, to prevent the building boat from capsizing, and, seeing the magnitude of the clash between the two combatants, they quickly piloted the building boat away from the center of the battle to avoid the repercussions.
Liu Qingyun watched, dumbfounded. It was his first time seeing his master strike with full force, and the power on display was indeed astonishing. Any pride he had felt from battling the Celestial River Naval Forces on his own disappeared.
However, at the center of the battlefield, neither of the two combatants had any spare attention to devote to the reactions of those around them. As soon as they clashed, both realized that the other's strength was far greater than they had anticipated.
Not daring to relax in the slightest, both were completely absorbed in the battle. Waves surged in the Celestial River, the aftermath of their fight stirring up the river. Even the escaping stowaways were affected by these ripples. They watched the direction of the battle in amazement, thoroughly shocked, uncertain who was clashing.
Tianpeng wielded his nine-toothed rake, each blow carrying immense power. Yet, Lu Yu was not the least bit intimidated, his Sword light shimmered, neutralizing Tianpeng's offensive one by one. In the midst of their close-quarters combat, Lu Yu pulled out a Fire Brick and, taking Tianpeng by surprise, smacked it squarely against his face.
The blow landed right on his face, leaving Tianpeng with a bruised nose and swollen cheeks. Enduring the pain on his face, Tianpeng charged forward again. Sword light dazzled, endless Sword Qi enveloped the heavens, trapping Tianpeng in the middle. Lu Yu occasionally pulled out the brick to launch a surprise attack.
Although Tianpeng was not afraid of the Sword light—he had fought Sword Immortals many times—the brick was extremely troublesome. Its timing was hard to predict, and for a moment, he found himself at a disadvantage.
At this point, Tianpeng grew more and more anxious as he fought. After all, as the Naval Marshal, it was somewhat embarrassing not to quickly defeat a mere stowaway. Frowning slightly, he suddenly came up with an ingenious idea.
