Journey to the West: Treasure Vase of the Great Dao

Chapter 340 Ghosts

Countless specks of dust were stirred up, causing Cui Heming to cough incessantly. Then with a boom, Chen Xiang's fist pierced right through the Taoist's body, leaving a deep impression of his fist on the wall.

Cui Heming was shocked and dumbfounded by Chen Xiang's punch. He looked at the delicate-looking young man in front of him with disbelief, unable to fathom how such a body could harbor such immense power.

Not only was Cui Heming surprised, but even Chen Xiang couldn't believe his eyes as he looked at his own fist. Although he knew his strength had been increasing constantly during this past period, he had no idea just how powerful he had actually become until now.

This was the first time he had unleashed his full power, and the commotion it caused took him by surprise.

As both of them were still in shock, they were astonished to find that the Taoist, who was supposed to be dead, underwent a bizarre transformation; the corpse on the ground instantly turned into a straw man.

Chen Xiang inwardly cursed, realizing that this sinister Taoist indeed had many tricks up his sleeve and even possessed such a treasure that could serve as a substitute for death.

At that moment, a cold glint flashed. A small silver snake suddenly darted out from the side, as quick as lightning, with its mouth open revealing sharp teeth glistening with a sinister green sheen, clearly indicating extreme poison. It was a venomous snake that had been carefully cultivated to perform silent and stealthy attacks under control.

However, Chen Xiang's body was far from ordinary. His body had been continuously strengthened by the nameless technique, and further enhanced in the village by the awakening of the Divine Bloodline. He had also consumed many precious medicinal herbs meticulously prepared by the Taoist. These forces infused in his body had long since removed him from the realm of mortals.

Therefore, even the slightest movement around him couldn't escape his keen ears. The moment the silver snake lunged out, Chen Xiang had already detected it. As the snake neared his body, an aura of light emitted all over him. The snake was swept by the light and instantly hurled away, its fate upon landing unknown.

The nameless technique whirled crazily inside Chen Xiang, granting him boundless strength. His senses had become incredibly sharp, and he quickly sensed the heavy breathing of someone hiding outside the cave.

Thus, he leaped out, flying towards the hidden spot of the Taoist with a momentum as imposing as mountains and oceans placing immense pressure on the Taoist secretly watching.

When he saw Chen Xiang's glowing body, he knew he had capsized his boat in the gutter. This was clearly a case of a sheep in wolf's clothing; such strength, such a body—it was no different from that of a Divine Spirit.

Watching Chen Xiang rushing towards him, the Taoist gritted his teeth and reluctantly took out a deep black pottery jar. It contained a ghostly entity that he had spent many years cultivating, who, due to its volatile temper, cruelty, and defiance, was imprisoned within the altar. But now, with the situation so dire, he could no longer afford to worry about the consequences.

He threw the pottery jar onto the ground, and as it shattered with a crisp sound, a ferocious ghost enveloped in pitch-black energy appeared out of thin air. Its blood-red eyes scanned the surroundings, filled with mania and a lust for killing. This was a ghostly entity that had cultivated successfully, having devoured countless people, and was surrounded by a dense aura of resentment.

As soon as it appeared, the whole weather changed. Chen Xiang could clearly feel the temperature around him dropping rapidly, with even a thin layer of frost forming on the lush vegetation.

The Ghostly Entity had barely appeared before it couldn't help but let out a loud, mocking laughter. The ghastly wail instantly spread through the forest, and countless animals, sensing the hatred for living beings within it, began to flee towards the outskirts of the mountains, creating a substantial wave of beast tide.

With just a light inhale, the surrounding flora withered instantly as it plundered every bit of Life Force, a most peculiar Ghostly Entity that, if allowed to grow, might very well become the next Ghost King.

The Taoist stared at the fearsome Ghostly Entity without giving commands or uttering unnecessary words. The creature was defiant, and carelessness could result in the Taoist being attacked, hence his silence.

For, compared to himself, the rich Vital energy and vigorous Life Force of Chen Xiang were far more likely to draw the Ghostly Entity's attention.

And indeed, the Ghostly Entity noticed Chen Xiang right away, its crimson eyes brimming with envy. It envied all living things, especially those brimming with life, which incited a greater and more powerful jealousy within, fueling its strength.

The Ghostly Entity let out a blood-curdling scream, the piercing sound causing disorientation. Chen Xiang circulated the nameless technique to withstand the disruptive noise, only to look up and find the Ghostly Entity had already closed in on him.

Out of instinct, he threw a punch, but the formidable force felt like it struck air, as this Ghostly Entity lacked a physical form, rendering ordinary attacks ineffective against it.

Upon seeing this, a faint smile appeared on the Taoist's face. He knew that someone with great strength like Chen Xiang feared nothing more than an intangible opponent, and he seemed to already foresee Chen Xiang's eventual failure and dire fate, for few could face such a Ghostly Entity and die with dignity.

Chen Xiang, too, showed concern. Such an adversary was indeed difficult to confront, but as the grim Ghostly Entity approached, he gritted his teeth and decided to treat a dead horse as if it were alive, channeling the nameless technique, feeling his body grow hotter, and once again, a glow appeared on him.

Upon seeing this light, the Ghostly Entity displayed discomfort. Although weak, the glow was disconcerting to it. It howled loudly, the scream stabbing at the eardrums, making Cui Heming, who was observing from the side, involuntarily cover his ears.

Chen Xiang, however, paid no mind and continued to accelerate the cultivation technique. The nameless technique circulated faster and faster within his body, triggering a strange transformation: Vital energy surged from his body, further awakening his bloodline, and the robust Vital energy formed a cloud of red in the sky.

At that moment, the Taoist felt as if a mountain bore down upon him, the power emanating from Chen Xiang's body oppressively bending him over involuntarily.

The same powerful force made the Ghostly Entity wary. It extended its hideous claw towards Chen Xiang's head, but to its surprise, the Vital energy became like a blazing sun. As the claw neared, a scorching sensation instantly enveloped the Ghostly Entity, eliciting a gruesome cry from the malevolent creature.

Chen Xiang took no chances, bringing his fist down upon the Ghostly Entity's head. The dark Martial Fog hissed as it approached Chen Xiang's fist.
