Chapter 13: A Strange Young Sorceress? The Enchanted Dagger
Lucas hadn't expected a young girl to remain so calm after such an incident.
Soon, the police officers came and handled everything.
With the video evidence and the bakery owner's testimony.
It was certain the man would be enjoying prison meals after his hospital stay.
As for Lucas, he received special recognition and was named a "Young Hero."
Reporters even came to cover the story.
Sarah rushed over in a panic, only to be pulled into photos, cameras clicking away, surrounded by praise, leaving her rather dazed.
When she got the call, she thought her good son had been kidnapped and felt her world collapsing.
Instead, she arrived to find her son had beaten up a kidnapper and was now on TV.
"Lucas, could you please not do such big things without warning? You'll give mom a heart attack!"
Sarah held Lucas's hand as they left the police station, patting her chest in lingering fear.
Lucas remained completely calm throughout, comforting his sensitive mother with a few words before noticing the beautiful girl standing by the road.
A gleaming black luxury car was parked behind her.
A Maybach.
A middle-aged man in a chauffeur's uniform stood beside her, wearing white gloves, his manner respectful.
Indeed a young lady from a wealthy family.
Yet, how could such a young lady almost be led away by a sleazy kidnapper?
Lucas found it strange.
The girl seemed to be waiting for him. Seeing Lucas, she walked over and said coolly, "Thank you. What's your name?"
Sarah looked at her son, then at the girl, her maternal instincts kicking in as she responded warmly, "Lucas, his name is Lucas. What a beautiful young lady you are."
The girl looked up at Sarah, responding neither warmly nor coldly, "Thank you, ma'am. You're a kind person. I'm Luna Silvermist."
Seeing Lucas's lack of reaction, she turned to him and said:
"Lucas, let me give you a ride home."
Lucas frowned, not appreciating her commanding tone.
[Having displayed your Dragon Emperor's might to subdue evil, the young sorceress seems curious about you and has extended an invitation to accompany her. Will you accept or decline?]
Lucas shook his head, "Thanks, but we have our own car."
Luna's thick eyelashes fluttered, her bright eyes showing slight confusion, as if not understanding why Lucas would refuse her.
Sarah, seeing her son's cold expression, smiled gently at Luna, "Would you like to come play at our house? It's not far from here."
Luna actually gave it serious thought, then turned to the chauffeur waiting by the car and said coldly, "I'm going to Lucas's house. You can go back."
The chauffeur nodded, "Have fun, young miss."
He smiled at Sarah, "Thank you for looking after our young miss."
Sarah was taken aback but nodded instinctively.
"Ah... sure."
Truthfully, she had only offered out of politeness, not expecting the girl to actually accept...
The chauffeur returned to the car, and the Maybach drove away, seemingly unconcerned about their young miss's safety.
Lucas felt increasingly puzzled by the situation.
Luna looked at Lucas, then at Sarah, before walking to the other side and taking Sarah's hand, saying coolly, "Ma'am, let's go home."
Lucas: ...
Sarah: ...
In the car.
Luna sat properly beside Lucas, her long hair flowing over her shoulders, fair hands folded in her lap, appearing demure and well-behaved.
However, paired with her cold, expressionless face, she gave off an unapproachable aura.
"Lucas."
Luna suddenly said, "Though I'm grateful you saved me, but..."
She turned her head, her clear eyes rippling like water, "Actually, I could have handled that person myself."
Lucas responded with an indifferent "Oh."
He felt no particular fondness for this girl, having saved her purely out of compassion.
After all, he wasn't swayed by looks.
And from their current interaction.
He felt somewhat uncomfortable.
In short... it was strange.
Seeing Lucas's apparent disbelief.
Luna lowered her gaze, clenching her small fist, adding, "I have a black belt in Taekwondo."
"Also."
She suddenly lifted her dress hem, revealing a porcelain-white ankle where a small black strap was fastened, holding a sheathed dagger.
"I have a dagger!"
Lucas was startled.
Sarah, driving in front, was also shocked.
"I didn't know that man was bad, I just asked for directions."
Luna said very calmly, "But he couldn't have beaten me. If he had tried anything, he would have been dead."
Somehow.
Despite coming from a young girl, her words carried an inexplicable killing intent and intimidation.
Lucas: ...
He felt this young lady might be a bit too confident...
Sarah was already regretting bringing her home, as carrying a dagger at such a young age hardly seemed normal.
"Um, little Luna, it's really dangerous for girls to carry daggers, our Lucas is very well-behaved, he won't..."
Before she could finish.
Luna suddenly reached down, unfastened the dagger strap, and offered it to Lucas, "Here."
[As expected of you! Without any effort, you've made the young sorceress willingly offer her enchanted dagger. She seems to have decided you're trustworthy and lowered her guard - truly a heaven-sent opportunity!]
Sarah was confused.
Lucas found Luna's behavior increasingly incomprehensible.
Seeing Lucas not moving.
Luna tilted her head, confusion appearing on her delicate face. She seemed to remember something and pulled out a credit card from somewhere, offering it to Lucas.
"This too."
"Father said this is to thank you both."
Lucas remained silent.
Sarah opened her mouth, unsure what to say, only managing a forced smile, "Luna, dear, Lucas doesn't need a dagger."
Hearing this, Luna seemed to understand something, quietly putting away both the dagger and credit card before sitting properly again without another word.
At home.
Lucas returned to his room.
Luna curiously examined the house.
Sarah briefly entertained her before heading to the kitchen to prepare dinner.
Truthfully, she had grown somewhat afraid of this strange yet beautiful young girl.
Luna sat alone on the sofa for a while before lifting her dress and coming to Lucas's room.
Seeing Lucas writing something, she moved closer, but lost interest upon seeing it was a "Junior High Physics" textbook.
Luna sat on the bed's edge, hands folded, completely silent, just watching Lucas's back.
After a while, Lucas got up to get water.
She followed him out.
Lucas returned.
She followed him back, continuing to sit by the bed, lost in thought.
When Lucas ate fruit, she took some too.
But she only took one piece each time, trying the taste before eating no more.
Sarah checked on them anxiously from the kitchen several times.
Seeing the two children sitting quietly and properly, she gradually relaxed.
The afternoon passed slowly this way.
Lucas continued doing his own things throughout, never interacting with Luna.
Luna seemed to understand, just following Lucas without speaking or disturbing him, her bright eyes filled with serenity.
Finally, dinner was ready.
The three ate in silence.
Sarah accompanied Luna downstairs, wanting to pat her head but withdrawing her hand, only smiling gently, "Luna, I'm sorry if our hospitality wasn't the best today."
It was now dusk.
The chauffeur waited in the Maybach by the road.
Luna stood still like a serene porcelain doll.
The lingering sunlight filtered through the treetops, casting her cold face in a golden glow.
"Thank you, ma'am, and Lucas. Today, I was very happy."
After speaking, she waved toward the upper floor before slipping into the car door held open by the chauffeur.
With the roar of the engine, they disappeared around the street corner.
Lucas stood at the window, silently turning away.
[You sense the young sorceress's mysterious background, explaining her behavior beyond her years. Throughout the afternoon, she tested you in various ways, but your steadfast spiritual core prevented her from discovering your Dragon Emperor identity.]
[However, the consequences of this encounter remain uncertain.]
