Kaijin Fighter: So I Have to Make Monsters, So What?

Chapter 1284: Slavish Acting

^Wait a minute...^Lythero whispered yo Olstenna. ^Isn' that unconscious slave—^

^Hush,^ Olstenna interrupted. ^I think this is another of his weird plans...^

^And that involves him getting cap... actually that makes way too much sense for him.^

...

What pleasant words you preach, Arbalest. So tell me, who is this exactly and why did you think him necessary to bring him to me? He doesn't look like much.

When his other kaijin brought back vicious looking warriors who had managed to cycle them all in their own, the Kaijin Lord was impressed with both their appearances and abilities.

In his mind, surely they would be able to handle being uplifted better than any other warriors he had tested on in the past. And in the worst case scenario, they could make excellent workers or gladiators either before or after they had undergone the process.

This new human that Arbalest was decidedly unimpressive though, in his eyes at least.

The mortal brought before him appeared to be a half-breed of some kind, part Stampeder and part Tideborn, a mudborn if he had to guess the original naming convention.

But other than this unusual appearance, he couldn't detect anything else noteworthy about this young man in the slightest.

Well, other than the fact he didn't seem to be able to cultivate aether.

[When you sent Mauler after that young man who summoned those aether puppets, he had led him to a whole group of what appeared to be warriors from the Roaring Tide continent,] Arbalest explained. [They were fairly normal warriors but our standards, but there was someone odd among them.]

Odd?

[Among their number was an old man who radiated Chaos and could summon even more of those strange puppets that came in shapes that were more wild than what we saw that young man ha tossed out. If I didn't know any better, I would've said they were Kaijin like us.]

The moment Arbalest said that last statement, the Kaijin Lord's aura suddenly flared up as his face twitched as if he heard something that offended him on a personal level.

In a way, this statement was offensive.

What did you just say?

[I didn't mean to make that comparison, it's just that they were carved in ways that resembled some of my colleagues here. Ugly and malformed,] Arbalest quickly responded in an attempt to diffuse his creator's temper.

[What did you just say?!]

[Say that to my face! I'll be sure to eat yours first.]

Silence! You were saying?

Evidently, Arbalest's trick worked. Well, Zhen Liu's words worked.

...

'Holy shit, he did clock the boss's behavior. Then I guess he'll believe this next part no problem.'

...

[Anyways, boss, Mauler managed to fight those puppets and that group fo Roaring Tide warriors to a stalemate that ended with him getting cycled. I took over shortly after he got bodies and proceeded to force them into a retreat. Left a fairly nasty gash through the leg of one of that old fucker too.]

But you couldn't capture him?

[Unfortunately no, but I did manage to secure this guy,] Arbalest answered while gesturing to the unconscious young man. [From what I could observe, he's either a servant or that old guy's kin.]

Why is there such a big disconnect in that assessment?

[All mortals are meat in my eyes. Doesn't matter how high quality they are.]

Hmmm. Understandable.

Curiosity replacing rage, the Kaijin Lord squatted down in order to take a closer look at this would-be slave or scion.

Callouses yet hygenic. Clothes of middling quality and signs of exhaustion...perhaps a craftsman of some kind. Well, I won't know until he's conscious. Shocker, get over here.

[As you command.]

A shambling amalgamation of an electric eel, an echidna and a hornet walked over to the prone form of the young man and proceeded to smack him on the back with an electrically infused palm.

"YOW!"

...

"YOW!"

Zhen Liu's Yelp of pain was actually genuine in this moment, as he wasn't anticipating getting his ass electrocuted by [Chaos] at this time.

Regardless of the pain though, this did help enhance the performance Zhen Liu was about to put on.

"Oh! Why did I just get shocked!" Zhen Liu cried in a strangely accented version of Hoof Speech. "In what ways have I displeased you this time ma—Ah!"

Acting as panicky as possible, Zhen Liu jumped into the air like a scared cat before suddenly backing away like his legs weren't working and his butt was weighing him down.

Off to the side, Zhen Liu could feel the judgemental gazes of Olstenna and Lythero piercing through the belly of his appearance.

"Oh woe is me, woe is me! One moment, I am attending to my master's needs, the next, I am surrounded by a horde of monsters!" Zhen Liu yelled in an exaggerated voice. "Please have mercy upon this humble son of an animal handler!"

...Meanwhile, at a certain library...

<Ya know...I had doubts about whether or not is a stupid idea for our lord to suddenly present himself as a slave to a clearly hostile Kaijin Lord knock-off...but you have to admit that the man has a knack for...Logos, what the fuck are you doing?>

=Abusing the fact that our lord has managed to come in contact with this pretender in an intimate manner and provided us a chance to analyze him without worrying about combat interference. Now shut up and help me make this array.=

<Huh...I forgot how weirdly obsessive over dealing with fakes and pretenders...>

...Now back to the grovelling...

When Zhen Liu dug through Constrictor's mind, he got his first impression of the guy who made him...and he hated him on sight.

Visually speaking, this Kaijin Lord appeared to be a native to the Dozing Salamander continent and had objectively handsome features.

Sharp jawline, scholar's brow and a surprisingly muscular yet wiry frame. Combined with the fact that this guy was rocking powers equivalent to an Aether King, this guy would've been considered quite the bachelor in more civilized regions.

Alas, none of these factors did very little to mitigate the fact that this man radiated an aura that caused people to feel and act in the worst ways possible.

Literally.

Zhen Liu had no idea what kind of [Chaos] formula this motherfucker had, but it caused this intense feeling of [Disgust] to radiate around him.

Zhen Liu's aura seemed to cause people to become increasingly more casual and act more on their own impulses to do whatever they wanted in the heat of the moment.

This guy's aura though...Zhen Liu wasn't entirely sure how to describe it other than he increasingly wanted to hate and injure everyone and everything around him because he was disgusted by their very existence.

If Zhen Liu wasn't used to being exposed to such things via the kaijin and his own [Chaos], a part of him was certain that he would be stabbing someone by now out of disgust.

Making this whole thing worse though, this prick only spoke by enhancing his voice [Chaos] like an asshole.

An animal handler? You?

The Kaijin Lord looked up and down Zhen Liu's person, not necessarily doubting his words but finding them odd.

Why would they bring along someone like you? And worry not about needing to change your tongue, I am able to understand all languages.

'So do I, but I ain't bragging about it,' Zhen Liu thought to himself while maintaining his pathetic facade.

"I was brought here by my most beneficent master to help in caring for a rare aether beast cub, a Golden Scarlet-Eyed Tiger King," Zhen Liu Lord while pulling up a memory from his father's lesson on the type of aether beast cats from around the world. "Well, he wanted me to anyways..."

Wanted you to? What do you mean by that?

As soon as Zhen Liu heard those words, he inwardly smirked.

'Ah, like a child in search of shiny new toys...let's see how this goes.'

"Well..."

Zhen Liu first acted with hesitation, to really convey the idea that he was a humble and loyal servant as opposed to an opportunistic bastard. After all, overlord types definitely preferred the former over the latter when it came to striking deals.

And from what Zhen Liu could tell, this guy was the overlord type. At least, that's the impression he got from this dude's slick ass looking smile.

Ah, someone with loyalty. How...quaint.

'Is that all you got to say?'

Ya know...I don't think your master is coming back for you. Wouldn't it be better for you to just...trade such information for your life?

'Why would you open negotiates like...like...oh that's we're gonna play.'

Evidently, the moment this other Kaijin Lord posed that question, he cranked up his aura.

Zhen Liu could feel the outside influences encouraging him to be disgusted over the bonds he had forged with others, to cast them away for no reason other than pure distaste.

Fortunately, he was a bit stronger than that.
