Chapter 31: Undercurrents II
When the couple got to the downtown area, they were surprised at the amount of people around, some even had cameras on them.
"Is everywhere so lively today?" Claire uttered out, while Chris shook his head.
"There's no mention on the news…"
Luckily, there were people nearby that were talking about the very thing, and the couple couldn't help but listen a little.
"What's up with them?" One person asked, and the other looked at him with a gossipy expression.
"Apparently, Kaize has been spotted around here a couple of hours ago."
"Whoa, really?"
"Ah! I knew I shouldn't have worked overtime!"
"That was around noon, wasn't it?"
"I could've left work early!"
The two looked at each other in interest. They were both fans of Kaize and had bonded over his music since his debut. It was really such a pity to have missed the chance to take a peek.
However, they had each other, so they didn't feel too sad. Ignoring the scurrying crowd, the two just held each other's hands and left to resume their date.

Ryo looked out at the quickly blurring scenery around him as they rushed out to the location.
Hours later the scenery changed from tall buildings, to the concrete suburbs, and finally to the wilderness. It did not take long for the familiar metal fence of a military facility to become visible.
Ryo and his team were relative newcomers, this was their first big mission, and they were frankly a bit nervous.
The several trucks entered the gate after the routine checks and they were directly to the air strip, where several cargo planes were already waiting for departure.
They went to park with the other trucks, and saw there were about a hundred others ready for deployment.
"Line up!!"
The soldiers immediately went to formation, quick and disciplined, and soon a dashing tall man walked to their direction. Unconsciously, everyone straightened up their spine as the man approached.
The man was extremely handsome, his short ebony dark hair framing his chiseled face akin to Adonis. His well-built body exuded strength, and every step his long legs took was controlled and powerful.
"Today you will be heading to Houlenver, a small town in the south." He said, his low baritone voice echoing in everyone's ears. "We received news that a plague started there and an order is required to deploy the lot of you.
"A commanding officer would be there to give you your tasks, and I hope you do them well. Let's keep this plague from spreading, understood?"
"Yes!"
"Be sure to take all the safety requirements to heart.
"Remember: Sacrifice is admirable, but death through carelessness is stupidity.
"I don't have stupid soldiers. Understood?"
"Understood!"
The soldiers lined up in neat even spaced queues to enter the carrier plane, Ryo and his team, and some of the later ones to arrive, were at the back of the line.
As they lined up, Ryo heard a call. "Captain Mogi. A word?" It was their commanding officer, his deep voice catching everyone's attention.
Ryo blinked before doing the standard salute. "Understood!"
***
The two separated from the crowd and walked several meters away.
When they were alone, Ryo looked at the handsome man only 5 years older than he was, but was 2 ranks ahead. "Uncle."
The man nodded. "I promised your parents you wouldn't die." He said, a matter of factly, and his lips twitched.
"Yes, uncle, I won't die."
"Be sure to follow all precautions well."
"Yes, uncle."
"Sacrifices are useless if they are just due to carelessness."
"Yes, uncle, you told us that."
Kylo nodded with that usual stoic tone of his. "Go, soldier."
And he saluted again. "Sir, yes, sir!"
***
Kylo's deep green eyes watched as the planes took off. His eyebrows were furrowed, feeling this plague was even bigger than people thought.
But he had yet to discover a basis, so he couldn't take action yet.
However, before he could begin planning his next step, his phone rang. It was the general, calling him for a report about an issue that had just been passed on him a day prior.
He massaged his temples and went to the man's office. After knocking, he entered the room, and behind the wooden desk was a powerful man in his early 50s.
"Any news on that guy yet?" He asked, rubbing his beard.
"No, sir. His weapons channel was very secretive." Kylo said. He had just been assigned this task from several predecessors. Just 22 hours prior, to be exact, but the general didn't seem to care.
He seemed to really want those weapons.
***
The aforementioned guy was currently lounging around in his mansion, wearing a golden robe with his sexy eight-pack visible. He had dark skin and sharp features characteristic of the people from middle-eastern countries. He had natural blonde hair, an unusual combination, but he was extremely handsome and unique.
At the moment though, he was watching a certain video on his tablet. He had a soft smile on his face as he gave out another set of rewards.
It was a rewatch but he couldn't help but give our rewards again.
Click.
Somewhere out there, a person's phone would receive a notification that said: [Received reward from KaizeCantSing: +10 Airplanes]
She was seriously beautiful and sexy, and had such a wonderful voice. Just hearing it got him hard. He wanted to get a hold of her.
Sleeping with her must be akin to heaven.
Not to mention, this was a very good rendition of the song. Even better than that jerk Kaize.
He looked at the clock. Speaking of, that guy promised to send him that limited edition watch he received from a product sponsorship, signed by his idol watch-maker Mr. Tanaka.
He had been calling him for an hour now, and there was no answer. It wasn't even six o'clock. He was not fondling with some woman, was he?
Did he finally get it to work again?
Where the heck was he?
But then the video replayed again and his annoyed mood got better again. He quickly pressed the reward button again, hoping to make the girl in the video happy even while they were still apart.
For now.
