Chapter 6: The Battle of Sanyou(2)

It took less than 7 minutes for the 2nd Wave Commander, Ei Bii to appear. Shouting information regarding our charge, which would happen soon enough.

On the way, he stopped by both me and Shin. Warning us of the deaths plaguing our side, mainly the new Commanders.

"Second Wave, Charge!" Ei Bii shouted, as the cavalry charged forward. Starting the Battle.

Roku and Ishiro charged forward first, followed by their 300-man cavalry, charging to the left-flank. Followed by our infantry.

I rode in between, overlooking the battlefield. As we rode forward, the great hooves of horses made the ground rumble, and the feet of the infantry sparked up dust as we charged forth.

Ishiro was the first to slam into their lines, at the same time as Shin, only that they were on opposite sides of the left flank.

Luckily, although the heavy hooves of horses and the shoes of the infantry created sound, the Wei troopers weren't precisely expecting us. And therefore there was no wall to soften up, and Ishiro wasn't as needed. But he led the Cavalry Wedge from its tip, cutting down any troops in his way, as the cavalry followed after.

Hozu and Tetsuji were right behind, I had decided to leave the backline of our lines open, meaning I would have more of a half-encirclement than a full one, but it would work fine. I assumed that the lieutenants or officers remaining with the Qin´s remnants would retreat there, when our encirclement was completed.

As we pushed forward, small squads of 10 were left behind, to form the encirclement. Creating a double layered line, with each man connecting his shield with the man beside him, and another wall was created behind him, saving the encirclement from flanking.

Now, we wouldn't be able to fully encircle them with our troops. But we just needed to start it, and I had to get some assistance from the remaining Commanders.

And if the intelligence remained the same, there should be 2 Commanders left, both with weakened, but existing forces. Whom I´d use to my advantage.

We continued, pushing into their lines and making waves, our cavalry, and the Hi Shin Cavalry had created a momentum, we had not only held the Wei Forces back, which no other unit has yet to do, but we were pushing them back.

Halting and turning the momentum which the Wei Forces once had, and it was inspiring other units to take up arms again, fighting to the full extent which their body allowed.

"Order the existing lines to begin pushing in, we´ll tighten the circle! And get any stragglers to join the encirclement!" I shouted at a messenger, who nodded. Rushing towards the Sergeants and Corporals.

Ishiro was having the time of his life, he was dominating the Battlefield. His horse and glaive breaking the Wei Forces, with Roku backing him up.

I focused on the Hi Shin Force, to see them doing as well as us, if not better. Their Heavy Infantry had begun creating the encirclement wall. While it´s chaotic, the Light-Infantry, consisting of the 300 original members, were following behind Qin, their specialty in all-out brawl shining through.

And with Shin and Kyou Kai, both of whom could rival Ishiro, they had an unstoppable momentum. And they were about to push through, ending up behind the Wei Lines.

Luckily, Ishiro had the same pace. The Infantry was beginning to fall behind, but I had my 300 elites at the forefront of that, and they worked similar to the cavalry, an unstoppable force.

That's when I spotted a Qin Commander, Shi Ho, I believe his name was. Commander of the 3rd Division, commander of a 1000 men.

I quickly rode up to him, followed by 2 guards. He sat on his horse, with about 350 or so men close by, fighting against a large Wei Force.

I caught up to them, and I was let through due to my armour and the approval of the commander.

"Commander Shi, I´m Hyou Ren. A 1000-Man Commander." I said, as the older commander turned towards me.

"It´s good you rookies finally turned up, but your kind has yet to impress me. Your rapid promotions are what got us in this situation." He said angrily, he hated the rapid promotions I and my three competitors received.

"Well, the Hi Shin Unit and the Ginryu Tai are performing a synchronised encirclement. You can decide whether you want to be in front of the wall, or beside it." I said, as his eyes widened.

"It will never work, we´re being pushed back if you haven't realised." He said. But I simply pointed towards both Shin and Ishiro.

"We´re pushing through, we've got their sides encircled, and their back will soon be as well. But there's no wall behind you, which is why I need you to form one, and link up with our walls. Can you do that?" I asked, and the man began thinking. Grumbling and throwing a few insults under his breath, before he looked up.

"Fine, I´ll follow the plan. But it better work, or I'm coming for your head." He said, and I ignored him. Simply riding off. I had accomplished what I wanted.

With that, the North, South, West, and East sides of the left flank would be surrounded, meaning a total encirclement. Now, the South part. Or the part formed by Shi Ho might not have a rear-guard, but I doubt they´d be hit.

And with that, I returned to my lines. As I found a slightly elevated position, atop a hill, in the middle of our encirclement, it would work perfectly.

And with that, overwatch over the Battlefield, my eyes quickly got to work. Attempting to discern any commanders from soldiers, which was more difficult than necessary. Due to the dust which was being blown up by the footsoldiers.

However, I found a man. Wearing the standard armor, with an intricate helmet and a cape. Standing on a horse, a noble breed. And shouting orders, most notably pointing at Shin. Perhaps wanting to break through there.

He was approximately 270 meters away, close to the Hi Shin part of the encirclement, which was within my range.

I drew my bow back, as my breathing slowed and my eyes narrowed. I positioned my bow vertically to the man, before aiming slightly above and releasing it.

The power of the release sent rumbles through my bow. But the arrow flew true, piercing the back of his head, through his helmet, supplanting itself in the back of his head, and ending his life.

That happened just in time for the Hi Shin and the Ginryu Tai to link up, and I smiled.

The encirclement was completed, Hi Sho was lacking slightly, but he would have formed the wall by the time any hostiles reached him.

And as such I turned towards a messenger.

"Order all troops to advance, no surrender is to be accepted, and do not stop till you meet the opposite side of the wall," I said, and the man bowed. Before rushing off on his horse, as I focused back on the battlefield.

However, out of the corner of my eye. I saw smoke beginning to form a few hundred meters behind me, or to the West of the Vanguards.

If my memory served me. They´d form a smoke-screen, and then utilise the sounds of bells to notify the archers of our position. Allowing them to accurately track us, and decimate the majority of our vanguard.

Which we would not allow.
