Chapter 24: Finding Strengths

In order to use ninjutsu, having chakra alone is not enough.

There's one more crucial element: seals!

Or more precisely, the hand-seal techniques of the twelve basic ninja hand signs!

Each different seal represents a unique flow and operation of chakra. By combining different seals in various sequences, and adjusting for slight variations, you can release different ninjutsu, provided there's enough chakra and the right attributes.

For instance, the lightning-style ninjutsu released by the Kumo ANBU after tracking him through the forest was made possible by these very seals.

The hand seal for Clone Jutsu is relatively simple. The most basic version requires just one seal. As long as the hand sign is precise and the chakra flows correctly, the Clone Jutsu can be performed.

Shenren mentally reviewed the Clone Jutsu and the twelve basic seals, making sure he had a solid understanding of the necessary hand signs.

He took a deep breath.

The first technique he would try was, of course, the simplest: Transformation Jutsu.

He raised his thumb and stacked it with the other, left thumb on top, forming a seal.

This one simple seal was all that was needed for Transformation Jutsu.

Shenren carefully controlled his chakra, making sure it flowed smoothly and correctly.

Feeling like he needed to pump himself up a bit, or maybe add a touch of flair, Shenren shouted, "Transformation Jutsu!"

He immediately followed with the seal…

Bang!

A puff of smoke appeared, and… nothing happened.

Except for Shenren, who was left a little disheveled by the failure.

"Of course… even the gods are jealous of handsome people…"

The first attempt at Transformation Jutsu had failed.

However, Shenren definitely felt the chakra moving inside him when he attempted the seal earlier.

Ninjutsu, after all, is about using hand seals to channel chakra and convert it into a technique.

Finally, he spoke to himself, "Let's try again, Transformation Jutsu!"

Bang!

Another puff of smoke, and again, nothing happened. But this time, Shenren was able to rule out one possibility.

He didn't stop.

After multiple unsuccessful attempts, Shenren remained undeterred.

The chakra cost for Transformation Jutsu wasn't high. In fact, Shenren noticed that, compared to his total chakra reserves, the amount used for this jutsu seemed negligible.

He remembered reading that newly refined chakra was often too weak to perform a single jutsu, let alone this one.

"Focus, stay calm, keep the hand seals as precise as possible, and make sure every tiny flow of chakra is correct!"

He took a deep breath and tried again.

"Transformation Jutsu!"

This time, his movements were perfectly synchronized with the seal as described in the manual.

Bang!

The smoke billowed out, but this time, it felt different. The mist that emerged seemed thicker.

When it cleared, Shenren's appearance had completely changed.

He now looked exactly like the Kumo ANBU who had been tracking him!

A black-skinned ninja with a white mask and gray ninja armor appeared in front of him.

The surrounding ANBU, who had been secretly monitoring him, all tensed up. Some reached for their weapons, while others immediately started forming hand seals.

The leader of the group, however, did not act. He simply stared at Shenren, signaling for the others to remain calm.

They weren't afraid of the Transformation Jutsu, but as ANBU, it was an instinctive response.

The Kumo ANBU were well-known, and there were constant struggles between the various villages' secret forces. Seeing this transformation made them wary.

But they quickly realized this wasn't an actual Kumo ANBU member—it was just Shenren using his transformation jutsu.

Shenren walked over to the lake and looked at his transformed appearance in the water. He sighed and shook his head.

The white mist appeared again, and he returned to his normal form.

"Hmm… it's much better to see myself looking handsome. Still, this transformation jutsu doesn't seem too difficult. Why is it such a big deal in ninja schools?"

He clicked his tongue, muttering, "As expected, it's just because of my incredible talent. Simple jutsu like this are too easy for me!"

Successfully using Transformation Jutsu confirmed that the mysterious energy flowing through him was, in fact, chakra.

"Well, while it's extremely difficult for others to refine chakra, I was able to gather so much just by sleeping last night. Guess it's all thanks to my good looks," Shenren thought to himself.

A small, warm smile crept onto his face.

When he used Transformation Jutsu earlier, he hadn't felt any interference from other chakra inside him, which was why it went so smoothly.

"Talk about not wanting it, but the body always betrays you…"

Shenren muttered to himself with a slight grin.

He remembered clearly that Naruto, the future Hokage, had massive chakra reserves due to his connection with the Nine-Tails and the Uzumaki clan, but the presence of the Nine-Tails also caused him to struggle with controlling his chakra.

The Clone Jutsu, which had been difficult for Naruto, had nearly caused him to fail his exams.

Later, when Orochimaru used the Five Elements Seal to reinforce the seal on the Nine-Tails, Naruto managed to control his chakra, though he lost the Nine-Tails' chakra in the process.

Shenren believed his own seal was much weaker than the one Naruto had at that time.

And as for the chakra of the Two-Tails inside him, it hadn't interfered either. That meant the Two-Tails had likely consciously suppressed its chakra.

"So prideful..." Shenren smirked.

He sat down by the river, reflecting on his earlier attempts.

He didn't try the other two techniques from the Clone Jutsu—he was more curious about chakra itself.

Back when he was escaping from the Land of Lightning, he had thought long and hard about how to survive, how to refine chakra, and how to quickly improve his strength.

This world was one where strength spoke louder than anything else, and creating a rapid growth plan for himself seemed essential.

After all, not everyone could improve in every area—there would always be some weaknesses.

His task now was to identify his strengths and maximize them.

It wasn't about becoming an elite jonin or surpassing the Hokage, but about honing one particular skill to a high level, something that could rival the abilities of a special jonin.

Finding his strengths and developing them to their maximum potential—that was the key to rapid growth.

For example, making Lee focus on ninjutsu and genjutsu, having Kurenai specialize in taijutsu, and letting our handsome Itachi focus on… well, never mind…
