Labeled as an Intruder in a Another World

Chapter 2: First Gate!

*Din-Don-Dong!

The moment the bell announced the end of classes, Reisou, as a member of the go-home club, headed straight to his room, eager to prepare for exploring his first Gate.

He intended to gain experience (EXP) and complete missions to earn rewards because, by gaining experience, he could level up, unlock additional system functions, and obtain attribute points.

These attribute points would be essential for him to grow stronger and if Reisou completed missions, he would receive more experience, a random reward, world points, or system points, which would help a lot.

Upon arriving at his room, located in the public male dormitory just a few minutes away from the academy's main buildings, Reisou checked his rewards again, eager to put them to use.

He began by equipping the armor set, which, thankfully, could remain hidden from others and only be visible in his inventory menu. The downside, however, was that if someone hit him, they would notice they struck something.

The armor set he received was quite simple: a light metal chestplate, reinforced leather pants, leather gloves, lined boots, and a hard leather bascinet, all low-grade.

Although it seemed worthless, the armor was surprisingly light and would be effective against weak monsters. Moreover, the extra attributes it provided were valuable, increasing defense points.

The chestplate alone added two defense points, while the other pieces each contributed one. Combined with his basic lance, which increased attack speed by two points and added one to attack, his stats weren't too bad.

"Well, it's better than nothing," Reisou muttered, sitting cross-legged on the bed. "Now, I just need to test my skills, though I don't think it's a good idea to do that here."

His two skills awarded by the system would definitely attract attention. He couldn't see their descriptions, but judging by their names, using them randomly didn't seem like a wise choice.

Reisou then decided to test them inside the Gate and unequipped his armor to take a quick nap so he wouldn't feel too fatigued while exploring.

The night fell quickly, and Reisou was already awake, gathering essential supplies to store in his inventory, preparing for his small adventure into the Gate.

As technology didn't work inside, bringing a phone or watch to track his time was pointless, making it challenging to keep track of it. He didn't want to be late to class and ruin his perfect attendance record.

Still, if necessary, skipping class would be more bearable than missing this opportunity.

With everything prepared, he took the GK card from his pocket and tore it in half. His vision blurred for a few seconds before returning to normal.

As Reisou recovered from the minor side effects of teleportation and looked around, he was stunned by the sight of a bright blue sky, towering trees surrounding him, and the distant chirping of birds filling the air.

[Ding!]

[A mission was generated.]

Then, a system notification caught Reisou off guard. When he checked it, he realized a mission was already available.

+++++++++

Mission Name: First Gate!

Objectives:

- Kill twenty monsters of any level (0/20).

- Extract thirty low-quality monster cores (0/30).

- Eliminate the Gate Boss: Corrupted Boar.

Rewards: 5 System Points, 30 World Points, 1 Energy Key and 500xp.

Good Luck :)

After reading the objectives, Reisou frowned upon discovering he needed to defeat a boss. Despite being in an E-rank Gate, taking on a boss typically required a team. However, the rewards were quite tempting, including five system points, making the risk seem worthwhile.

"Goodbye, my perfect attendance record," Reisou said as he equipped his armor and pulled his lance from the inventory.

He then started walking around, determined to find his first monster.

Minutes later, while walking through the dense forest, Reisou came across a group of low-level green goblins, considered among the weakest of monsters. Without hesitation, he readied his lance and adopted an attack stance.

As soon as the goblins spotted what they thought was dinner, they grabbed their crude stone weapons and charged at Reisou.

Instead of feeling fear, he saw it as the perfect opportunity to test one of his skills.

Instantly, a bloodthirsty aura engulfed the small group of six goblins, causing them to tremble and drop their weapons in fear, as if they were standing before a true predator.

Reisou charged toward the goblins, his mind recalling parts of the intense training the original body's owner had endured. With a precise swing of his lance, he pierced the heart of one goblin, ending its life instantly.

Seizing the opportunity while the other goblins were still stunned, Reisou swung his lance with precision, severing the neck of another. The force of the strike caused the body to spin, colliding with two more goblins and knocking them to the ground.

He felt an overwhelming sense of power as he swung his lance, moving with the grace of a dancer in a ballroom. Each step was deliberate, every strike landing on a vital organ, and he felt in complete control of the fight.

The six goblins stood no chance, and Reisou breathed a sigh of relief, confident that he really could handle weaker monsters easily.

As he prepared to check the bodies for monster cores, a notification from the system popped up, marking his progress.

[Ding!]

[Your level has increased: 0 ⇾ 2]

[2 attribute points are available to reallocate.]

His level had increased, jumping straight to level two. Surprised by the sudden level-up, Reisou checked his status and decided not to use the attribute points for now.

Reisou wanted to test his limits first before upgrading his attributes, to determine which areas he should invest in first.

Then, he pulled a kitchen knife from his inventory and began cutting open the goblins' chests, carefully searching for any monster cores.

These monster cores are typically found inside the monsters' hearts and can be exchanged for money or used to craft equipment. Their value increases depending on the difficulty of the monster.

After harvesting six cores, the system mission screen updated as he placed the items into his inventory. He was thankful that identical items could stack in the same slot, preventing his inventory from filling up too quickly.

Resting his lance on his shoulder, he decided to venture deeper into the forest, determined to find more monsters and complete the mission.

Half an hour of exploration later, Reisou climbed onto a thick tree branch to take a break and have a quick meal. His stamina was draining faster than expected, but it wasn't enough to wear him out completely.

He didn't even need to use Nano to kill the monsters, relying solely on the system's energy points.

Nano, or Nanocrylitics, is the energy Hunters use to combat the Gate monsters.

Once a person awakens, their body naturally develops and stores a fixed amount of Nano reserves, which is extremely difficult to increase. Furthermore, every Hunter gains an affinity with one natural element after awakening, such as Earth, Wind, Fire, Water, Ice, Thunder, Darkness, Light, or Void.

Most Hunters have limited Nano reserves and couldn't be compared to those with larger ones. The latter hold greater advantages, enabling them to use elemental magic more efficiently, awaken Innate Skills, or, in the rarest cases, receive a Blessing.

Hunters with limited Nano often concentrate on basic techniques to boost their strength while maximizing the efficiency of their small energy pool. As a result, guild leaders commonly assign them to the frontlines, equipped with swords, spears, bows, axes, and other weapons, often treating them as cannon fodder.

Meanwhile, those with large Nano reserves and an good Innate Skill are treated exceptionally well, enjoying numerous privileges, as they have the potential to reach greater heights, such as achieving the coveted S-rank.

Still, when compared to someone with a Blessing, their achievements seem insignificant. An individual with a Blessing holds the immediate potential to earn the title of National Hunter, a prestigious rank reserved for only a select few, as possessing such power is extremely rare.

For now, Reisou didn't think about it too much, as his focus was on getting stronger at his own pace.

He was calmly resting on the tree branch, mentally reviewing how to use his abilities more efficiently. Earlier, after checking their descriptions, which had unlocked upon leveling up, Reisou noted the strengths and limitations of each one.

Intimidation, when activated, consumed ten points and could stun enemies weaker than Reisou for ten seconds, those of similar strength or stronger for five seconds or less. To use it again, he would have to wait a twenty-second cooldown.

Fury, on the other hand, consumed fifteen points to activate and drained five points every three seconds. It provided a significant five-point boost to attributes like strength, agility, attack, and attack speed, along with slight damage resistance.

The major drawback was a one-minute cooldown, and prolonged use of the skill could gradually drain a significant amount of his stamina.

Since his skills were so effective and relied solely on energy points, Reisou really hadn't needed to use Nano at all, which made him curious about something.

'Wait, what would happen if I used my Nano technique and my system skills together?' Reisou mused, curious to see the result.

Upon standing, he focused on using the only technique he knew with Nano. Then, something surprisingly happened.

A system notification appeared.

[Warning! A new type of energy has been detected, initializing conversion...]

[The conversion was a success!]

[Congratulations! Your EP1 increased by 50 points.]

[Congratulations! The technique Enhancement (1⋆) was successfully integrated into the system.]

"Well, this was unexpected."
