Legacy of the Dragon Lord

Chapter 4: Chapter Four: The Awakening Within

The library was silent save for the occasional rustling of pages. Shira had found herself returning night after night, desperate to uncover more about the Dragon Lords, but the knowledge eluded her. Every text seemed to end in speculation and mystery.

She reached for another book when a voice interrupted her thoughts.

"Interesting choice."

Shira turned sharply, her fingers tightening around the book's spine. A young man stood a few feet away, arms crossed, his piercing gray eyes studying her. His presence was strong, confident—but there was something in his expression that felt… knowing.

"I'm Darin," he introduced himself smoothly. "And you are?"

Shira hesitated before answering. "Shira."

Darin smirked slightly. "You seem awfully interested in history. Most students focus on battle tactics or magic theory. What is it about ancient myths that fascinates you?"

She felt a flicker of suspicion but forced a casual shrug. "I like to know things."

He hummed, his gaze lingering for a moment longer than necessary. "Knowledge is power, after all. Maybe I'll see you around, Shira."

She watched him leave, a strange unease settling in her stomach. Darin knew something—she was sure of it.
