Legendary Shelter Survival Guide

Chapter 107: First Potion Brewing commenced

"This is where the real plan starts," John explained, a determined look in his eyes. "We need to create a natural airflow to feed the fire and prevent it from exhausting. I call it the Ventilation Tunnel."

With a swift motion, John used his spear to draw a line in the ground, extending from the pit in a westerly direction. He then proceeded to dig a shallow trench along the line, about 3 feet long and a foot wide. The trench acted as a channel to direct the airflow into the fire pit.

"Now, we need to make sure the trench connects with the pit," John continued. "We want the wind to be channeled directly into the fire to enhance its strength."

Lucas nodded, starting to grasp the concept. The other hole that John was calling a 'trench' would make winds come inside the hole directly enhancing the fire in the process.

By directing the airflow through the trench and into the fire pit, they would create a continuous supply of oxygen, promoting a more vigorous and sustainable fire.

With John leading the way, they carefully adjusted the position of the pit and aligned the trench accordingly. They made sure that the trench had a slight downward slope towards the pit, allowing the wind to flow smoothly.

"Alright, it's time to test it out," John said, his voice filled with anticipation. He tossed another leaf into the trench and watched as it slowly moved inside the trench, reaching the fire pit and eventually settling inside it.

The winds were moving slowly but they still entered the trench meaning that the winds would directly come inside the trench and blaze the fire further.

"Perfect!" Lucas exclaimed, impressed by the effectiveness of the Ventilation Tunnel. The leaf's journey confirmed that the airflow was now directed precisely into the pit, ensuring a proper oxygen supply for the fire.

"Now, we just need to ignite the fire inside the pit," John said, a smile playing on his lips. "With the Ventilation Tunnel in place, we'll have a reliable and controlled fire source that won't exhaust easily. That way, you can go on with your process without thinking that the fire would exhaust or the smoke will come out.

The only thing you need to do is provide the fire with dried leaves and twigs through the ventilation hole."

Lucas grabbed some dry twigs and leaves on the shelter's territory and placed them inside the pit, carefully igniting them with a small flame with the help of the man fire tool. As the fire began to flicker and grow, the wind from the trench moved the slow but fresh air flow directly into the pit, fueling the flames.

The Dakota fire pocket, with the Ventilation Tunnel, was a success. The controlled airflow and efficient burning would allow Lucas to concoct a potion without worrying about a stand for the cauldron or the source of the fire.

John and Lucas exchanged satisfied glances, proud of themselves to make something like this. With the Dakota fire pocket in place, they had secured a reliable and practical fire source, further enhancing the functionality of their shelter.

"This thing will help us form better fire pits later. Why didn't you tell us about it before, Uncle John?" Lucas asked with curiosity as he couldn't believe that information like this that could bring further prosperity to the shelter was hidden his long.

"I just remembered when I heard about your problem. And after knowing the success, I will be sure to make one in front of the shelter. So, do you need more help?"

"No, you will be sure to get surprised later," Lucas said with a grin and shifted the cauldron above the firepit where flames were coming out vigorously.
Your journey continues at empire

It felt satisfying to see a makeshift stove in this primitive world. The air was still getting inside the pit even when the first hole was completely closed.

As the flames danced and the wind flowed through the tunnel, Lucas couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment.

He may have not come up with the idea and nor did John but still, making this was something very productive.

With the cauldron in place, Lucas turned his attention to the water. Sandra had kept buckets of water in the shelter's storage, and he poured it into the cauldron, filling it halfway. The water made a satisfying sizzling sound as it came into contact with the hot surface of the cauldron.

Within moments, the water started to boil, creating a bubbling motion within the cauldron. It was the perfect time to add the Regaldis petals and leaves, the key ingredients for Lucas's potion.

With precision, Lucas carefully dropped the Regaldis petals and leaves into the boiling water. As they immersed, the cauldron emitted a pleasant aroma, a mix of herbal essence and rising steam. He could feel the potency of the ingredients being released, infusing the water with their magical properties.

The liquid was still simmering, its magical properties slowly infusing into the water. He knew that the final result would be a test of his efforts.

The petals and the leaves were nowhere to be seen within the huge bubbles and the water boiling.

Lucas threw the stem and the roots in too thinking that he had to go all in to get the results.

In the end, he knew he had to infuse his own mana inside the cauldron to finally complete the concoction.

He thought about activating the 'Potion Brewing' skill and moved his hand near the cauldron until he couldn't contend with the heat any further.

Soon, he started feeling something coming out of his body. He couldn't look at it but was sure that the mana was getting out and moving inside the cauldron.

Lucas wanted to activate his 'Perceptive Eyes' but reluctantly rejected the idea. The mana points were getting devoured like small candy pieces and activating such a taxing skill right now was like inviting the illness on his own.
