Legendary Shelter Survival Guide

Chapter 120: Venturing outside with a new party

"Are you sure you want to do this now?" John asked a guy who was 6 feet in height.

Lucas was in front of John with his order of leaving the shelter on his own.

"Yeah and I am taking Haley with me, don't worry."

"How do I not worry!? Taking Haley, when did you decide that?" John was fuming, he knew there was no stopping Lucas from leaving and it wasn't bad either.

Lucas was pretty strong and with the fights to the last strand of consciousness, Lucas was looked to be the strongest when it came to melee combat. But taking Haley with him was not right.

"I just thought of it right now, let me ask her if she would like to go." Lucas didn't even wait and went to the two sisters to ask, leaving John behind with wide eyes and a dumb expression.

"After the banter in the morning, I don't think he will ever listen to you, John," Ella said while holding her laugh.

"You are enjoying this too much, now it looks bad," John grumbled under his breath.

"I don't care, as long as you stop nagging my sons and just focus your attention on Lucas."

John understood what she said, lately he had been training his kids in fighting as they were being too useless when it came to survival on their own. Whenever John thought of the scenario that Barney and Sean are on their own and they have to survive.

The scenario always ends up in them dying in very dumb ways so he had started training them forcefully in the ways of hand-to-hand combat making them gain the unarmed fighting skill.

It was a risky move but they needed to have something of their own.

"Do you think I am doing all this because I like it?"

"I think so."

"They are my kids too! I am just doing all this for their well-being."

"Well, then you should be a little more careful. Both of them get very bruised and I don't like that." Ella said with an angry pout making something awaken inside John but he let the impure thoughts slide and sighed.

"Ella, listen to me... while this is a risky time and we have to level up our skills quickly. There is also an upside to all this, we can make our sons forcefully get their skills high and in the long run, if things go right, it will make them become good independent people.

Not like now when we just spoon-feed them and you should know that even when Lucas is a bit weird, he gets things done and I want my sons to be like that."

John stopped and Ella kept looking at him, her expression had changed again and again throughout the talk and now she was concerned, after a few seconds, she nodded in approval making John hug her tightly in return.

"I didn't know you were thinking that ahead... thank you."

While things were getting okay between John and Ella, Luca had gone directly to the two sisters and without making any conversation with Sandra, he directly asked Haley if she would go with him.

"Let me guess, you need my storage skill to do your bidding."

"Okay, if you say it like that, it feels like I am saying something wrong... Whatever, will you come or not?"

"Alright," Haley said and for the first time in a while, she showed a small smile.

"Wait, what? What about me?" Sandra asked in a panic, it would be the first time when she would be away from her sister in this whole change of the world.

"I can't protect the two of you together, Sorry Sandra, I can't take you this time."

"But what if I am as useful as my sister?" Sandra asked with a smirk making Haley surprised.

It was the first time Lucas talked to them nicely from the front and also the first for Sandra to smile after their brother died.

"How so?"

"I can feel the dead." She blurted out as if it was facts that everybody would know clearly.

Lucas just tilted his head showing his confusion making Sandra click her tongue at him.

"I mean in that fucking natural graveyard of a place, don't you think I can be useful?"

Lucas could now think of the usefulness, She could tell him if there were dead creatures that some predator hid so that they could take it. Or other information that may be useful but he could not think of right now.

"Alright, you can come too but now I have to take one more fighter with me. Ugh, this is nothing like a solo trip I aspired!" Lucas shouted with a slight roar and went to find one last member of the group.

Both the sisters looked at him and then at each other and burst into laughter after seeing Lucas's silliness.

Lucas went on to ask everyone but the first one he asked approved of his joining.

"I am responsible for those girls, you would have to take me even if you didn't like it, Lucas," Jerry said after keeping his arm around Lucas's shoulder.

"Sure" Lucas was already raging from inside as things always had a way of playing opposite to his view.

In 20 minutes, the four of them were ready to leave.

"Should we make a new party?" Jerry asked at the shelter's gate.

"Yeah, that would be great. I will do it right now." Lucas took the suggestion and they all first got out of the big party and then as Lucas the party maker, they got in a new party.

"Jerry, take good care and remember what I told you, okay?" John shouted from inside the shelter.

"Yeah Yeah, I remember!"

"What did you talk about? Was it some useful information? Tell me." Lucas asked with an excited voice as if he desperately needed the information quickly.

"Nothing much, he just advised me of how to take care of you."
