Chapter 232: The Cavern’s Finishing Touches (2)
'Easy does it, Aoni; carefully place it on the ground, and the Array Creation will automatically trigger.' Remembering the in-depth explanation he'd received from his Dad, Aoni fully understood that this living tattoo would act like a one-time use STAMP.
Wherever he touched, the Array would be constructed, and it was a permanent fixture; no second chances, no wanting to move it without destroying the Array.
Crouched on one knee, he slowly and carefully hovered his tatted-up left hand above the wooden floor, measuring it perfectly before.
Thwack
Fooooooooom
Smacking his hand down with enough force to cause a slight vibration in the wooden flooring, the spell circle was transferred into the ground, where it began rapidly expanding, rotating, and imprinting itself into existence.
Then, after several seconds, a soft humming sound and a bright flash of orange light, the First point of the Teleportation Array was complete.
Spanning across 80% of the Cave's floor was the most intricate spell circle Aoni had ever witnessed. Characters and runes he couldn't read, beautifully crafted swirls and lines, just a casual glance at the Array was more than enough for Aoni to get lost in its awe.
"How crazy would it be just to have the ability to draw out something like this?" He mumbled while taking a step back and making sure not to brush the back of his hand against anything accidentally.
After all, he still had the second part of the Array imprint tattooed there.
It's merely a 3-Star Array
'Oh, don't even start with me; let me guess, you know a billion 9-Star arrays and could easily walk me through how to create them?' Tone laced with sarcasm, Aoni huffed and was about to turn to leave the Cave when the Attribute Notice's response froze him in place.
Something like that
'Waiiiit,' Insinctually holding up a finger and ready to retort, Aoni was silenced seconds later by a snarky remark written in the ethereal chatbox.
The Host shouldn't even consider dreaming about Something at that level; drop the concept and keep progressing
'No, no, no, you don't get to drop bombshells like that and run away; explain yourself this instant.' Walking through the open cave door and nodding at Nyria, who was perched atop the fort waiting to escort him down to the Cavern, Aoni was quick to interrogate his AN.
Although the host is extremely dense and often times dumber than Summon: Glacia, even they should have noticed the Barrier that was created after the collapse of the Newbie Territory was formed solely through Arrays; it wasn't as if it manifested from nowhere
At this, Aoni found himself unable to come up with a response because he had, in fact, seen the massive Array in the sky that generated the new Barrier.
And it wasn't just one either; there were at least 20 different array circles that had merged into the new Barrier surrounding his territory, but if he was transparent with his thoughts, Aoni hadn't ever put a whole lot of thought into it, after all, you aren't supposed to look a Gift Horse in the Mouth and all that, right?
While he would often times question the words and revelations dropped by his AN, Aoni had long since understood that his Attribute was FAR from normal and had, along the way, given up on trying to figure out its secrets.
No matter what he did or said, at best, the chat box would give him minor hints or breadcrumbs, so he couldn't see any reason to push for more information, as all he would be left with was more annoying questions and a headache.
If the AN wanted to say Something, it would, and nothing he or anyone else said or did could coerce it into answering. That much was a well-established fact.
Resisting the urge to massage his temples with both hands, lest he accidentally turn his head into the Teleportation Array's Point B, Aoni, with Nyria close by, swiftly traveled down the mountaintop and looped around toward the Cavern.
Once inside, he sent Nyria off to check if any monster had snuck in while they were out before heading to the Upper Ring's Southern District.
Considering his Manor was located to the North in the Cavern, and he needed some distance between the Array and his Flume, it made sense to put it there, and so, after careful consideration, the Gathering place in the Upper Ring's South District, was where it was meant to be placed.
In this way, not only would newcomers get a great view of the territory upon arrival, but it would also allow for easy regulation later on down the line.
---
{'A little to the left, no, no brother, that's too far, okay great, now three big steps back annnnd PERFECT!'} Flying high above, Nyria expertly guided Aoni to the direct center of the fenced-in space and watched in amazement as he slammed the back of his hand against the ground, locking in the second transfer point.
To her, it looked as if someone had dropped a bucket of paint on the ground, with Aoni being the focal point.
With each passing second, lines and squiggles darted around in a dance of sorts, merging in on itself, connecting with others, forming strange shapes unlike anything she'd ever seen before; it was quite wonderous and, most importantly…
{'Pretty, it sooo pretty, brother, wow wow,'} Nyria chirped while circling around and examining the Array's creation, then heading down to join her Lord.
"Pretty??? Of all the things, alright, sure Nyria, if you say it's "Pretty," I guess it is," Chuckling as he stood outside the fenced-in area, Aoni looked over at his birb as she landed and gushed about the Array.
{'Shiny lights, squiggles, shapes, ahhh, prettyyyy'} Nyria continued while fluffing up her feathers and observing the Array as it went through the automatic process of linking up to the one in the Cave above.
"Okay, okay, you can stay and watch it finish setting up; I need to go and close off the Cavern now," reaching over to scratch Nyria under her beak, he heard her confirmation before leaving and going to the sole remaining tunnel leading outside the mountain.
"Well, I guess this is the beginning of my life as a real Territory Lord. To think I'd start like some kind of cave-dwelling dwarf or Something."
Dwarves live significantly deeper into mountains, preferably tens of miles below the surface
"Yeah yeah, it's a fucking analogy, you ass."
